Didnt know if this was posted already.
Anyways, does anyone see Shannon Brown dipping on the Lakers for the knicks?
He could potentially start there.0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 3:40am #365513
Spurs2020ParticipantDo the knicks really need him? I like him maybe to be packaged as part of a trade, but thats about it. I think teams are bit too enamored with his athleticism, he shot 33% from 3, and turns the ball over a good amount… with felton and douglas, he will prob playing as an undersized 2….
I say whther he leaves LA or not is irrelevant, they should let him walk and concentrate on getting Rudy Fernandez

bkballerParticipantKnicks don’t really need him, they have a 10 man rotation and should start looking for upgrades instead of just adding average players.
Felton/Douglas
Azibukee/Walker
Gallo/Chandler
Amare/Randolph
Turiaf/Mozgovwith most players in the rotation being interchangeable between the 2-3-4-5 when necessary

bishopm.dotParticipantI agree that they don’t NEED him but he would be a nice addition. Especially if you’re not sure what you’re going to get from Walker (with his injury history and lack of focus). I think he would be a good fit with his athleticism, ability to run the floor, and outside shooting.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThe Knicks are in for a ”RUDE AWAKENING” if they’re expecting to get more then 15 solid minutes from Shannon..He has too many holes in his game to be counted on as a full-time starter…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 6:28am #365962
bkballerParticipanthe dont be a full time starter, the knicks have a lot of depth this year
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 6:33am #365964

ghettosermonParticipantThe rumored offer is between 4-5 mil a year. That’s a hell of a lot of money for a guy with no clearly defined position.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 6:34am #365965

JNixonParticipantMike D’Antoni must think he can develop Brown into a Raja Bell-type like he had in Pheonix. Brown is a 15 mpg player like Rudeboy said, a guy who is better on the 2nd unit and provides steady D and athleticism.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 6:35am #365966
McWinningParticipantThe Lakers should sign & trade him for Chris Bosh.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 6:51am #365969

OhCanada-ParticipantFelton/Douglas
Azibukee/Walker
Gallo/Chandler
Amare/Randolph
Turiaf/MozgovDespite what Knicksfans would like to believe this is not a deep lineup. This is not a durable lineup. And depth should always be welcome so signing Brown (who could easily start over Azubuke) is a good idea. Walker hasnt proved himself as an NBA player, Douglas hasnt proved himself as an NBA player, Mozgov hasnt proved himself as an NBA player.
With that said Dantoni also likes to have a smaller rotation so Mozgov and a 5th gaurd would probally only get extended minutes as a result of an injury.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 6:52am #365970

ghettosermonParticipantRaja Bell though was effective because of his ability to stretch the floor at the 3 point line, Shannon Brown while an elite athlete and pretty good defender, he’s a horrible shooter that can’t hit a shot consistently. I think Shannon Brown is more comparable to Tony Allen than anyone.

OhCanada-ParticipantIggy I could see Brown playing 20MPG as an aggressive defender out the gates as a starter but I agree he is best used in short spurts to make the best out of his explosive energy.

D’Antoni also rolls with seven or eight guys in a rotation so this mythical depth Knicks fans want to present is pointless. They are looking at a rotation of Felton, Azubuike, Gallinari, Amare, the starting center of the day, Randolph, Chandler, and Douglas. It will strike fear into nobody, and frankly adding Shannon Brown wouldn’t change anything. It would still be a team that would have to max out and have incredible luck in terms of health to finish .500.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantMan, you really HATE the Knicks don’t you?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 9:50am #366041

OhCanada-ParticipantWhy doesnt anyone see the fact that this Knicks team is no better than last years Raptors.
Stoudemire/Bosh
Galinari/Bargnani
Felton/Jack
Randolph/Johnson
Chandler/Wright
Mozgov/Nesterovic
Walker/WeemsThe difference is Turkoglu and Calderon were on Toronto and New York has Turiaf and Azubuke. In all they are both defensively challanged, offensive oriented teams, with good players out of position and good undeveloped unproven players with high potential. Just like the Raptors I predict a sloppy beggining then a strong streak until All-Star game. When teams step it up New York will crumble and miss the Playoffs at the 9th or 10th seed. Someone is bound to get injured within this rotation. They have less of a rebounding and post presence than Toronto last year.
Although…they did good in rebuilding for the future and hoping they sign another big name FA or somehow make a big trade they could be a very good team. (Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul. That should be enough to keep NY fans happy and watching and spending money on the Franchise anyways.

OhCanada-ParticipantGood point Iggy I agree that New Yorks young players and role players are better fits than Toronto’s. I also believe that Bosh, Bargnani are better than Stoudemire Galinari and Calderon as a backup PG is something NY doesnt have.
At the end of the day I see 35 wins at the least and 45 at the most for New York. I will stand with 39 wins.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipant“Man, you really HATE the Knicks don’t you?”
I don’t, but pointing out facts often seems to ruin the buzz of Knick fans. They won’t be anything more than a .500 team and at no point in his coaching career has D’Antoni gone to a deep rotation. So what is the problem? Would you prefer there be nothing but pom poms and candy in preparation for their epic journey for 35-40 wins?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 11:50am #366111

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWould you prefer there be nothing but pom poms and candy in preparation for their epic journey for 35-40 wins?
No, that’s fair to believe that but I’ve seen you say some really crazy things ( Randolph being dumb, Amare being a terrible signing) that was more NY hating then anything. I don’t think NY is winning 50 games and being a legit title contender but you cannot like the moves NY made realizing they had no first round picks to deal, they had to start from the ground up with that team. The Knicks deplited the whole roster, had little to no pieces to rebuild and are in a prime position to make the playoffs 2 years later. They robbed the Warriors of 3 solid starters. I think Azubikie is a good scorer and should be alright. Turiaf is a underrated defender. He should be on a All Defensive team next season. Randolph if he remains healthy has no reason not to succeed. Amare Stoudemire is a top 15 player in the NBA and Felton ( who they got on a great contract) should be able to help the Knicks next season
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 12:07pm #366124

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantI never said Amare was a terrible signing. All I have ever pointed out is that the best the Mecca could do with all their cap room was outbid everyone else to give $100 million to him when the contract was not insurable. After the 4,729 Knick Dream Team threads that came out, I think it is just fair to point that out.
I said Randolph is dumb, because he is.
If you want to talk up the players they got from the Warriors, please explain why you would want three starters from a 26 win team to possibly start for your’s. You seem to want to talk yourself into them, so have at it.

Golden State had some injuries last season and never got a consistent lineup ( Thus why they played like 8 NBDL players last season). Add that to the fact they moved another solid player ( Stephen Jackson) for cap space early in the season- They had a step back season.
Look at your comments, I think it’s fair to say you just dislike the Knicks. I don’t wanna argue but the Knicks should be better next season. There not a 50 win team but there going the right way in terms of getting pieces who should help NY win games and help earn a playoff birth.
“I said Randolph is dumb, because he is”- LOL, Either he picked on you as a youth or you’re a Hater. Pick one.

canesboy6ParticipantGood idea for the knicks. Dude jumps really high.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 1:17pm #366159

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantHave you watched Anthony Randolph play basketball? His lack of basketball acumen even insulted Don Nelson. He showed no growth from year one to two. All the guy wanted to do was brick mid-range jump shots. If you want to think the guy is great, that is your thing. I think the guy has potential, but it is hard to get it to come out when the guy isn’t that bright.
As for the 26 win thing, if you want to chalk up the injuries and roster turnover to the reason they were so bad, feel free to come up with an excuse for those them being a 29 win team the year before. They got two bodies and a 21-year old who is not more developed than a rookie. Don’t try to make it anything more than what it was.
Also, I have never denied that the Knicks would be better. How is 35-40 wins and being in the mix to race the other bad teams for the 8th spot not acknowledging improvement? I don’t have them down with the Cavs or Nets in the no hope group. I am not putting them in the Indiana group of a team that is just asking for a 60-loss season starting a 2nd round rookie shooting guard at the point. All I am saying is that they are still bad, and Shannon Brown wouldn’t make a difference. Instead of seeing Toney Douglas you’d see Shannon Brown.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 1:37pm #366177

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantGolden State had injuries 2 years ago as well. Azubikie, Turiaf and Watson were the only 3 players to play at least 70 games in 08-09.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 1:49pm #366188

OhCanada-ParticipantHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHA
Turiaf an All Defensive Team honour? Are you serious. How about foul trouble, size differential, and injury problems? He will get you alot of blocks, but man.
What is so great about the Knicks. Is it something they feed the players. Is their a mystical presence that will turn Turiaf into this amazing player? Explain to me how he beats out Duncan Camby and Howard at the 5 position for all defensive.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 1:52pm #366189

OhCanada-ParticipantBTW there is a reason you got Azubuke, Randolph and Turiaf and not Stephen Curry…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 1:53pm #366191

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantOh Canada- Please stick to Toronto and how DeRozan will be the best player in Toronto history.
If he stands out defensively ( Which I can see him doing), I wouldn’t be shocked if he was on the defensive team.
It’s not like the MVP or All-NBA teams where there’s like 5 locks every year.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 2:05pm #366195

OhCanada-ParticipantTuriaf is 27. He is coming off of his worse injury year. His best season defensively is a 2.1 bpg 4.6 rpg season in 7 years. He has never averaged 22 MPG. You expect him to average what to make it on the team?
I said Derozan can be the best player on the best Raptors team ever, and frankly I already am feeling bad for saying that. He is going to be very good but maybe not the best Raptor. If he stays his whole career I think that would solidify him as the best Raptor ever since thats all we really want, someone to at least stay. I doubt that happens to.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 2:20pm #366201

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantPlease OhCanada- Don’t throw Stone in a glass house man. You talking about NY when TOR might lose 60 games next season.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 3:46pm #366223
bkballerParticipantHahaha the guy talks down Randolph, Gallo, Chandler and then says Derozan is going to be the best raptor ever. I hate forums so much because its all stupid homers talking nonsense. Derozan put up Toney Douglas numbers last year. Derozan is at best a slightly above average NBA player and he too will leave in a few years.
