How good would the Knicks be if they actually got CP3 and got there own trio of superstars

Because we all know there roster is gonna be full of scrubs if they trade for CP3

BUT if they can get good role players they have the potential to be the best team in the NBA (yes better then the Heat because they actually have pg who can run the team)

So say whats there best lineup can be with CP3 and how good they can be

they be good if there coach is greg popovich,

if mike d antoni, manages there minutes well, then they can be good all through out the season, having Cp3, Melo and Amare would be a good trio, cp3 making crafty passes to Melo and Amare, Melo can shoot almost anywhere in the floor, and Amare, like what he did in phoenix with nash would be bangin the ring,

but what happens if one of them gets hurt?, they have huge contracts that would makes there cap space little, if they still have landry fields, it would be great for them, but fields would likely want more money in 2013,

Wiith no draft picks, and the vet players split between signing with Miami, NY, LAL, and Dallas looking for a ring, they would never be deep enough to go all the way.

This is the best lineup I could see them having:

    PG: Chris Paul/Curtis Stinson/Andy Rautins

    SG: Toney Douglas/Von Wafer

    SF: Carmelo Anthony/Shawne Williams

    PF: Amare Stoudemire/Derrick Brown

    C: Emeka Okafor/Earl Barron

I feel like the Hornets are at least going to want Landry Fields and Iman Shumpert for a deal to go through and probably want Okafor’s contract off their hands as well if they’re going to start the rebuilding process.

The Knicks are going to have to stock their bench with guys making close to the minimum. Barron always worked out pretty well when he played for them and Brown and Williams were guys that got decent PT last year while getting paid less than $1 million. Stinson is a bronx native and the reigning D-League MVP, he might be a half decent option at backup PG so that Rautins isn’t being forced to do to much. Wafer isn’t a world beater but he’s probably the best cheap option they have, when healthy he had shown the ability to be an alright bench player and he’s still pretty young.

I honestly don’t think the Knicks, even with CP3 and a solid center in Okafor, would be that great. Obviously depth is a major issue, but coaching poses a big problem as well. Until they play good team defence this is not a team that can win a championship.

I think you forget the East isn’t that strong, the Celtics aren’t that great anymore though still a 50 win team.

Orlando, Milwaukee, Cleveland have all slipped, Atlanta who knows what they’ll do with the amnesty and Crawford.

The Knicks were already the 6th seed last year and if not for the injury suffered by Billups when they lost 9 of 10 they probably would’ve been the 5th seed.

They are already better than the other teams in the East.

Also they do have their own 1st in 2013, 2015 and I don’t think those can be traded.

    Can always buy a 1st rounder or trade a 2nd for a 1st to a team that doesn’t want to pay a 1st contract.

The mid level and other exceptions are still available too.

Okafor would be another big body if they traded for him and would def. help.

Okafor and CP3 would help the defense a lot.

Thats a pretty damn good starting line up though

To take Paul AND Okafor they would need to send back equal salary. Which is 29mil. Their current total payroll minus Amare and Melo is about 24mil.

    So it’s not possible.

    Paul/ Shumpert

    Amnestied Veteran/Shumpert/Walker

    Melo/Shawne Williams

    Amare/ Turiaf

    Biendrens/Turiaf

First of all it is just my guess that the Knicks will get biendrens. He is probably going to come pretty cheap and is all the Knicks need as a center.

The Knicks are going to have to get a SG from somehwere and the only logical thought is from the amnestied players. There will for sure be some guys who would just love to play with this team.

If the Knicks want to get Paul they are probably going to have to add another team into the deal. I obviously dont know who but they are going to lose a bunch of pieces. Probably Billups, Fields, Douglas, Jeffries. They somehow need to get another team involved simply because the pieces the Knicks have wont get a trade done.
