I just want to start off by thanking Geoff Petrie for having what seems on paper to be an amazing draft. We got the dominant interior presence we needed in Cousins and followed it up with what I believe is an absolute steal in Hassan Whiteside. Cousins is going to contribute right away while Whiteside polishes his game and maybe in a few years they will make up one of the most dominant front courts in the NBA. Although we got a lot of talent in Whiteside, we didn’t address our positional need for another guard. Besides guys like Mike Miller and other veterans, there are a few undrafted guys that we could really use, such as Jerome Randle.

    Your thoughts?

Finally, I sincerely feel bad for fans of Minnesota and New York. I hope Knicks fans can get one or two of the free agents they wanted, and for T-Wolves fans, I really don’t know what to say… Hopefully Wes Johnson works out well with the rest of the team.

I know everybody seems to be praising the selection of Whiteside right now but honestly I felt the Kings should’ve drafted Armon Johnson.

Honestly I wish the Magic had taken Johnson instead of Orton.

You do have a point (no pun intended) with Armon Johnson, he would have been a very solid pick. Him and Tyreke in the backcourt sounds good. However point gaurd may actually be Tyreke’s more natural position, even though he is more of a scorer than passer.

At the end of the day though, they got a legit 7 footer with athletic ability, proven shot blocking skills, and a sky high ceiling…in the 2nd round! Can’t complain about that. It wasn’t too long ago that Whiteside was projected as a top ten and even top five pick. In some drafts with less big men Hassan would have gone way higher. This could end up being a huge steal, and if not, ow well it was only a 2nd round pick. See what I’m saying, I love the pick.

Anyone else notice that Hassan Whiteside turned into the second coming of DeAndre Jordan?

I agree. I would love to get Reddick on the squad. Who do you think will be our starter at shooting guard this year?

yes, this looks like a great draft for the kings, that said both picks are considered a possible busts
I am a big fan of both but my point that we should wait how will they end up in the NBA

I thought they would take Armon Johnson at 33 – that’s who I had them taking in my mock – but I agree that Whiteside’s upside was just too much to pass on.

I like Reddick as a FA for the Kings – they need someone who can stroke the 3-ball.

I also expect them to be looking at a number of the undrafted guys. They’ve got some roster spots open still, and any young backcourt player would have to look at Sacramento as a good opportunity to stick.

Bring in as many of these guys as you can, throw them in the summer league, and see who steps up: Sherron Collins, Manny Harris, Ben Uzoh, Denis Clemente, Jon Scheyer, Mikhail Torrance, Sylvan Landesberg, Jeremy Lin, Aubrey Coleman, or Ryan Thompson (Jason’s brother). That’s just off the top of my head – I’m sure I forgot someone – but there are still some pretty solid guards out there.

I really like what the Kings have done already, but it would be off the charts if they manage to find a diamond in the rough to go with the new bigs.

They really need to bring in those guards who were undrafted and focus on what they do best, spotting young players with potential.

i think scheyer would be a nice compliment off the bench with tyreke, a big guard who can hit the three off of penetration from tyreke
