IMO this is kind of a big deal. This is a Babysitter hire, that guy is no where near qualified to be on an NBA coaching staff and the only reason he would even sniff the league is because they think they need some reinforcements who need him to reign him in.

To be honest, this is how I feel about Cousins. AMAZING talent, I would put him neck and neck with Wall in true potential, but he is going to be problems for at least 5 years or so. He has enourmous character and maturity concerns. Im not sure how increased exposure, millions of dollars, and a less structured environment is going to help that.

Im not sure I would have taken him top 5 if my job was on the line, but you could just as easily lose your job for not taking him. Don’t get me wrong, he is going to be a player but I get the vibe from him that he is going to be a headache for somebody before he inevitably rounds into a player for somebody else.

I compare his game to Al Jefferson if Jefferson had elite measurables.

Honestly, this is a bad move if you want Cousins to become one of your building blocks. The guy needs to mature on his own, and with his HS coach there he’s going to feel like he can get away with stuff he did in HS. Thats not the case, and I know this guy is supposed to keep DC in line but I think it’ll just push back the time until Cousins learns to mature both On and Off the court.

I forget. What did Cousins do off the court that was troublesome or immature? Too much is made of this when everyone has little proof of immaturity.
