ChicagoCaseyParticipantIf i’m the Kings I would take the rumored trade offer from the Lakers in trading Demarcus Cousins for Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, and the number 2 pick in the draft.
It’s pretty hard to do a trade when you’re trading a superstar and you get better because of it. This trade is a massive win for the Kings. First, because they aren’t winning in the near future. And second, they might get the better end of the deal between the two team.
The Kings could have Jordan Clarkson, Mario Hezonja/Justise Winslow, Julius Randle, and Jahlil Okafor as it’s core. And the team still have young players in Nik Stauskas and Ben McLemore as young players that have potential. That team wouldn’t win right away and might get another top 10 pick that can result in another good young player. That’s a scary core to build on and I would argure that’s the best young core or at least top 3 in the league (Minnesota and Milwaukee).
I just believe if this trade rumor is true the Kings should jump on it because they would win this trade long term. And potential lineup of Jordan Clarkson, Mario Hezonja, BLANK, Julius Randle, and Jahlil Okafor looks and sounds intriguing.

jaycee24ParticipantThere is no way I depend on a big like Cousins to bring my franchise back so I hope that offer isn’t true. Id give the 2 and 27 picks period. Julius Randle is a cornerstone you either develop and then move when he has more value same goes for Clarkson. These are guys with at minimum decent potential definitely starter material. Why give up all that when you’re the Lakers??? This is a move Detroit or Orlando or Memphis makes for a star not a free agent destination like LA. Too much risk for a guy with serious character defects to give up so much for no thanks if im running the Lakers.

TONYDABOSS77ParticipantI disagree, respectively. He had back to back 20/20/10 games. I just don’t think you trade a 24 yr old that’s averaged 24/12 for 2 straight years. There’s only been 16 guys in league history to do that…the other 15 are HOF. He has as much talent as any center to ever play. Randle, Clarkson & Okafor doesn’t equal Cousins. If you’re gonna deal him, be patient & get a better deal, but you can’t deal him for scraps.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantYou can make a case that Demarcus Cousins was putting those stats up due to the fact that his teams are that bad and that he have no talent around him so he puts those stats up. Let’s be real here this Kings team have zero potential to get better and make the playoffs. He putting those stats up and he’s not winning. The Kings finish last season as the 13th best team in the western conference. He only got along with one coach out of 5 and that one coach is gone. Do you really believe the Kings going to make the playoffs in the next three years because that’s the lengh of DMC contract.
Which team do you believe that the Kings can get a better deal the Lakers? The Celtics can only offer dead picks that won’t get you a franchise player. The Knicks who best asset is the number 4 pick. There’s no other team that can offer a deal that can put up a package that any other team will do. The Kings is not going to get a Minnesota/Cleveland deal when Minnesota clearly won that trade by a mile.
I highly diagree with that Okafor, Randle, and Clarkson not equaling Cousins. I view Jahlil Okafor as a franchise center that will average 20/10 for his career, I view Julius Randle as a double double machine for his career, and I view Jordan Clarkson as a servicable point guard that can get the job done. I believe the Kings win this trade by having the better overall players, but also by putting together a great young core.

SinaParticipantCousins is good, but not that good. He is not on the same category as Davis or Griffin are. Otherwise, Kings won’t want to part way with him. He is a true low post force. However, he isn’t a good passer and defensive present as Davis and Griffin are which limit his influence to the game. Besides, he is lack of range and will stuff the cutting lane. It’s not good to today’s uptempo, guard favourite style. Besides, he is more expensive than Okafor for about 10m annually for coming 4 years. That’s big money and can used to sign another impact player.

FutureNBAGMParticipantWhy are the Lakers so allergic to actually KEEPING players they draft?

CameronCrazy11ParticipantTo the OP, I’d fill in your "BLANK" with Ben McLemore

jaycee24ParticipantI think everyone wants a Laker blockbuster deal but doesn’t think it through. #1 have you watched Cousins and his antics? #2 Is that the guy you want as the FRANCHISE player and defacto leader of your team. #3 Knowing all of that would you even want your franchise player to even be a Center much less one with Cousins’ personality/minus defensive effort. Id say No, No, and No. Not for the right price I wouldn’t because if they suck next year which they still will if this trade happens you’re basically looking at an LA version of the 14-15 Kings. LA keep taking the talent through the draft until you get that FA uperstar…THEN reload
