 Committed to PITT for 2012.  Way to get it done Jamie Dixon.  Finally landing a top recruit other than Dante Taylor.  Can’t wait to see what he can do for PITT.

Another huge signing today, two of the top 3 prospects in the next two years classes announced on the same day. Birch is an amazing prospect, he can jump out of the gym, and with a little more seasoning, he could be a truly special 4 man. Great instincts as a shot blocker and he has fantastic energy. When I saw him play, he also had that great nose for the ball, he was always around it and that led to rebounds and blocked shots. He definitely has a ways to go offensively, but he has tools you can not teach, great length for his size and appears to be an elite athlete for someone his size. He still will need to bulk up some and strength could be an issue initially in the Big East, but I think he is improving in that area and does not seem to get thrown around. He might very well play Center down the road. Now, he is in no way similar to DeJuan Blair, but he could be the most exciting NBA prospect to play for Pitt since Blair held it down for the Panthers. Lucky school, big time prospect.
