I know that there aren’t that many of them leaving, but does anybody think that this could grow into a bigger problem for the NBA? IMO, it’s just like a revolving door: one guy leaves, and another guy comes in/steps up. I miss Earl Boykins, though 🙁

Nah. I think it could help. Some role players can go over there and flop while another guy steps in his place. This helps to weed out the weak players and keep a strong NBA. I dont miss Boynkins or Childress really. It will only hurt when a guy like Iverson leaves, gets ludacris amounts of money, and causes younger superstar to start leaving for more money. I think it would help to have some NBA teams play some overseas teams in the preseason. That is just a lil idea of mine.

Earl Boykins should fire his agent. Two years ago, after averaging 15 pts with the Nuggets, Denver offered him a five-year deal at about $6mil per. He didn’t take the money. The Charoltte Bobcats signed with with about 20 games to go in the season at the verteran’s minimum! After the season, he traveled to play overseas. He’s a classic example of what not to do. Latrell Sprewell pulled a similar move and turned down $35 mil from the Timberwolves because he had to “feed his family.” It’s nice to know how that turned out.

Dhamp…the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.

NBA Teams do play overseas teams occasionally. I think the Knicks played Maccabi Tel-Aviv in 2007, and the Raptors played Andrea Bargnani’s team in 2005. I would like to see a team play Olympiacos this preseason.

I think it will help the NBA in the long run if the right people go because most likely they are coming back. I like younger guys going. Not guys like Iverson going overseas

I think it only helps the NBA because you have some guys that get a chance to play and maybe add to their games and come back. It increases the overall talent of the game at a global market and will help some young overseas talent get used to playing with NBA caliber players. There is just too much talent and guys are taking care of their bodies so they are playing longer.
