Why doesnt anybody hire this guy??? I know hes Director of Player Personnel for the Pacers but he deserves a GM job somewhere. I thought he did a GREAT job rebuilding the Blazers so fast and so well. The only thing he did wrong was NOT pick Durant but it really wasnt his fault that Oden has been hurt his whole career. Besides i think most people wouldve taken Oden (not me) so i will give him a pass. He took a JailBlazers squad and turned them into a respectable playoff team in a short time. Why wouldnt teams like Cleveland, Minnesota, or Orlando hire this guy in a heartbeat? Thoughts?

I’ve been thinking the same thing for a while now! his one mistake was one that had everyone silvating at the tought of alridge, oden and roy for the next 10 yrs until the knee injuries to roy and oden. I know in another thread everyone was talking about howd theyd start a team with doward because there arent many centres left that dominate like him. well oden was supposed to be that next guy. hes played well when not hurt. im a toronto fan and since it seems like we’re always in the lottery, id love to grab him as our gm since this guy works the draft like a champ

I heard the Raptors were interested in him to replace Bryan Colangelo as GM. Bryan Colangelo would be holding the president title still.

KP has always been one of the most popular GM’s on this board as he always seemed to be a great creator of deals. With respect to what front office title he does hold on any team, he’d always strike me as the sort of guy you would want running your draft room on draft night. But with many teams there are often many opinions on who they should draft amongst the front office so even if KP did go to say Toronto and Bryan Colangelo was still there then I’d guess that Bryan would probably want a say on player affairs.

KP can help the Pacers to develop and could be the sort of guy who could put together a deal to perhaps help them get the couple of final pieces to compliment Grainger, Hibbert, Collinson, Hill and co.

"Why doesnt anybody hire this guy???"

because quality of work and bball knowledges are not the first factor that help you being hire in nba.

    evidence :

-clippers are awfull (a 20 years truth)… whoever are the players

    -david kahn…. what else….

    -isaiah thomas (knicks period)

    -jon kuester

    -johnny buss (futur will tell)

I often wonder the same thing as to why he has not been scooped up as a GM.  he knows his stuff, but the Darius Miles situation left a really bad stain on him

I think Pritchard did a good, not great, job as GM of the Blazers. I think he was more sizzle than steak… Hyped up (mostly self-promoted) for his exhaustive work ethic and aggressive moves during draft time. I mean, he deserves credit for getting the Blazers out of the "JailBlazers" stage, but I’ve never bought into the "Golden Boy" hype.

I mean, he had a great 2006 draft getting Aldridge and Roy. Even though Roy’s career has gone down the drain, I won’t blame Pritchard (even though Roy did suffer two meniscus tears before being drafted). I also thought he did a great job bascially robbbing Houston of Batum.

I thought the move to acquire Camby and then sign him to an extention was a great move. Miller and Roy never really meshed, but I thought Miller was a solid signing. I thought putting Utah in the crunch by signing Millsapp and forcing them to match the offer was a good move as well.

I mean, like I said… He’s made some good moves during the draft and picked up some solid free-agents, but I just think he didn’t have what it took to get the team over the hump. I thought he held on to picks/young players too tight. I also think he wasted a lof of Paul Allen’s money. Thank God Turkoglu decided to go back on the deal he signed with Portland and go to Toronto… That’d have been a disaster. He managed the Miles situation very badly as well. Epic fail there regarding Miles’ medical retirement. Signing Roy to a max deal despite the fact he lacked a meniscus in one of his knees and was missing more than half in the other was obviously a bad move as well… But the whole organization should be smacked for that one.

No GM is perfect though. Pritchard is young. I know he was humbled after he was fired in Portland. Hopefully he learned from his mistakes. I was all for the Pacers adding him to the organization.
