I know they had a players only meeting recently and the front office is probably getting desperate after the slow start, but this is surprising nonetheless. What do Houston fans think about this?

 it’s not surprising at all tbh. Mchale is not a great coach, all he runs is Harden ISO and dosent press the team to play defense. His rotations are also pretty suspect. No idea why he dosent have Ty Lawson run the second unit. Him and Harden do not mesh well at all

I really am not surprised by this move. McHale is a great guy and a class act, but hes had absolutely no control over this Houston team the last few years. They play like a glorified AAU team.

They play like a glorified AAU team yet were a few wins away from making the NBA Finals in a rediculous Western Conference. McHale got the most out of this team, had them defend and play a combination of "Morey Ball" and read-and-react basketball, and I think they will struggle without him.

I really am not surprised by this move. McHale is a great guy and a class act, but hes had absolutely no control over this Houston team the last few years. They play like a glorified AAU team.

 Magic Johnson said they made a ‘Big Mistake’.And Dallas coach Rick Carlise calls the Firing of McHale ”Preposterous”. GM Daryl Morey said the team wasnt responding to McHale.But he feels they’ll respond to Bickerstaff..Morey should take part of the blame.Becuz for 1 reason he brought in Lawson and he has zero chemistry with Harden.They have the 2nd worst defense in the league,Dwight was upset and said he wanted more touches,their offense wasnt clicking and dealing with injuries to key players..You could tell by the expression on McHale’s face the past 2 weeks that he was ready to get out of there.

McHale does have the Highest Winning % for a Rockets coach at 59%..Got them to the Western Conference Finals this past season.In his 5yrs he had 193 wins & 130 losts.
