christebasParticipantThere are rumors all over the internet that Love has said he would sign a max extention with the Cavs should he be traded to Cleveland. Sure, who wouldn’t want to play with Kyrie, Lebron and Wiggins. However, there are rumors that Cleveland has offered Wiggins, Bennett and Waiters plus picks which I just don’t believe.
In my mind, that’s totally insane. The deal I would offer Mini if I were Clevleand’s GM would first make Wiggins ‘untouchable,’ then I’d let Mini choose 2 or the following 3 players – Tristin T, D. Waiters and Anthoney Bennett. In addition I would offer them 2 number 1 picks – 1 from Miami (which may be a lotto) and the other via Memphis – another lotto potential.
Giving up 2 up and commers of the 3 (Tristin, Waiters, Bennett) seems fair plus the 2 number 1s likely to be in the lotto seems more than fair.. If Flip Saunders turns this deal down he’s insane.
What else could he possibly get that’s better? Remeber he can ONLY do a deal ith a team Love’s willing to sign with so that really limits his options. A package from Boston I don’t thinkwould come close as Rondo couldn’t be part of it – he’s UFA after this season and has no interest in MINI. It seems Cleveland should would wait until the trade deadline as MINI’s going to get desperate.
What do you guys think? Who else could give Mini 2 nice young players and 2 number 1s, hell I’d ever throw another number 1 Cleveland pick. We can play with the name and which draft picks might be included, but i would NEVER trade Wiggins as part of a deal for Love – I don’t care how good Love is now.
What do you guys think is the best deal Mini can get? Harrison Barnes and Lee (GS won’t move Klay no matter what). Looks like Mini’s choices come down to the Cavs, GS and who else am I missing?

festar35ParticipantIf I am them I dig my heels in and say no Wiggins then no Love, that simple. I would not be settling for Waiters and Bennett.
The Cavs could wait till free agency but then they are one of many teams trying to get Love, if they make the trade this year the chances of locking him up long term is far better. To me this is the angle that Minnesota will go for.

christebasParticipantThere’s no way in hell I trade Wiggins for Love, no chance no how never…Wiggins is one of the best prospects to come out in over 10 years. If Golden State won’t deal Klay and the Cavs won’t deal Wiggins, you really think Flip will let Love walk for nothing? Waiters and Bennett plus 2 number1s via Memphis/Heat seems very fair considering the demand Love has which is very very soft. If he’s only willing to go to 2 or 3 teams (maybe the Lakers), what’s the benefit of ‘digging in.’ It’s not going to get you anywhere as I dont see the Cavs dealing Wiggins under any circumstances. What else is out there for Love other than GS???? Any ideas?

SpartanGloryParticipantYour value of Wiggins doesn’t really make sense to me, since Wiggins hasn’t even played a game yet, an love is a top ten player in the league. Cleveland would have a big three that was better than Miami’s, so wouldn’t that be worth trading a guy who has no garuntee of even becoming an all star? This Cleveland team as constructed is good, but is really young and might only be the third best team in the east now, depending on how the rest of free agency plays out. Lebron’s only on a two year deal, so I would think that they would be more desperate to surround Lebron with a championship team. Love is worth wiggins, the picks and at least another young asset.

christebasParticipantLebron only took a 2 year deal as the TV revenue will be re-negotiated under a new CBA (both the leauge and the players have an opt-out in 2 years). His 2 years has the benefit of getting more money in years 3,4,5 and has nothing to do with the possibility of leaving as an UFA. He’s staying in Cleveland and the players will clearly win the next CBA as ratings have gone through the roof, not to mention an NBA team that plays second fiddle to the Lakers, DOESN’T own it’s own areana, gets no percentage of concessions (food or parking) and was just sold for 2 BILLION! Balmer is getting a terrible deal but he doesnt care as he thinks he’s some sort of savior after Sterling’s rantings, not to mention he’s worth 20bil. I think it’s pretty clear the players win this 1.

trelos6ParticipantSaunders needs to take the best package because Kevin Love is not re-signing with the Wolves.
They need to flip him when he still has good value.

christebasParticipanti totally agree that he has to do something before the trade deadline, but the problem is his hands are tied behind his back as Love will only sign with very few teams (GS, CAVS, Clippers, Lakers). Loves value decreases signficiantly becuase he so limitied Fip’s options as to where he can trade him too. Of course Flip could do nothing and let him walk like Ferry did with Josh Smith (yes Love is a million times better), but he might be stupid enough to let him walk for nothing just go prove a point. I hear what you guys are saying about Wiggins, but Love’s value has diminisihed because he’s very limitied in who he’ll sign with. That clearly factors into his fair market value. If he says, "I’ll go anywhere, just get me out of here," it’s a very different situation. Untimately the Cavs won’t have to give up Wiggins for Love. What’s he gonna take Barnes/Lee over 3 number 1s (2 lotto) Bennett and Waiters? Come on, let’s be logical. And yes, Love is a top 10 guy in the NBA, but why should the CAVS give up Wiggins to get him when they have plenty of other assets to offer a better deal than anyone else in the NBA

NeggedNoelSaricI wont trade with them if the only incentive not to wait is OTHER TEAMS may try to get him in free agency. that’s bs other teams have been trying to acquire love since he was drafted that’s not going to scare me if im gilbert or griffen.
golden stats has to give up the pieces that make them attractive for love to resign and theirs no gaurtnee he will
we have watched good player not resign or opt out ( iggy, howard,LEBRON) good teams. If LeBron comes knocking for anyone in this league they will jump on the opportunity who turns down a chance to star with LeBron and co. An up&coming co featuring irving ,wiggins, waiters, and maybe Tristan and Anthony B. plus Andy V.
LeBron already has reeled player to want to play for the cavs.the east has got weaker and if lance doesn’t sign back the pacers lost 2 key players granger once was THE key and lance was a key player in the playoffs .
To the people who say the cavs wont have caproom do your homework and look at the assets they have to move they aren’t horrible assets teams a love to take anything for free the cavs offer. they can clear the cap to out right sign him to deal like lebrons.
then they have two more picks that may end up being 10-20 or high lotto picks.
remember when the knicks gutted their roster to bring melo and did a fail rebuild? now they have to start over and pay him even more? remember they could have waited and signed him but they wanted him now.
why should the cavs trade when they can find a way to sign him.
the warriors signed iggy with no cap space available at all lol so you think if love wanted to come to cle it wouldn’t happen?
the thing is this team can compete for a championship with or without love. LeBron has took far less talent all the way.
irving is no slouch and the improvments that LeBron culture plus talent and blatts coaching a bring will make this young team better. Imagine wiggins hiring a trainer and on his off time training with LeBron basketball and weight room. not to mention blatt teaching. he has the best of many worlds.
I also like waiters off the bench when LeBron and irving are tired dion comes in and holds it down.
I can see him competing for a sixth man award. this is about making the cavs a dynasty its about making them a contender even when LeBron retires this is LeBron looking at the spurs and how loyalty to a franchise can turn out how a legacy in a small town looks. This isn’t just about a ring its about a legacy cle is now for bad luck.you can build here. sign love next year and keep what you have you still can compete with or without him.
sorry wolves fan. gut the roster or wait one year and sign him and have the same players and assets to compete with for the next 8 to 10 years.
its a no brainer love is leaving even if he goes to golden state the west is crowded and you lose lee and Thompson its not a sure bet he resigns we watched howard not resign.
love wanted a place to compete the perfect fit has popped up in cle. if im the cavs I don’t do it I…where else does he sign
the lakers? the warriors have to give up what makes them most attractive the splash bros.
even if they where to get love that doesn’t mean their winning a ship this season.
so why not wait and compete with what you have rather then putting all your eggs in one basket. when you can sign him next summer0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/12/2014 - 2:15pm #935421

christebasParticipantthe only way I do a deal for Love if I’m the CAVS is let mini pick 2 of 3 players (waiters, Bennett, Thompson). All were at least top 4 picks and have definate upside. In addition, the Cavs have Memphis’ pick next year (protected) and Miami’s pick, wich is bound to be in the 12-17 range. Both picks are valuable as next years draft is loaded once again, though not as good as this years. If Flip demanded Wiggins I’d tell him to Flip off. The Cavs by far can give him the best deal.
What else can Flip get for Kevin Love? Harrison Barnes and David Lee or Bogut. Golden State is the only other player in the sweepstakes as far as I can see, unless you want 1st round Picks at the end of the first roound from the Nets or Clipppers. I highily doubt Ainge would deal Marucs Smart but even if he did, he’ll have to pony up 2-3 number 1’s to get Love and who says Love will resign with the Celtics. They have little talent and not much to offer (altough James Young may be an option). I dont’ see any other teams in the Love sweepstakes. Looks like Golden State, Cleveland and possibly Boston. By far the Cavs can offer the most young talent with the best draft picks. No way I deal Wiggins. I’m in Cleveland I stick with my roster and see how it pans out for 2-3 years if no LOVE. Waiters had a great second half, Kyrie is an all star, anything form Bennett would be a plus and you’ve got 2 decent big in Tristan and Varigeo. Put those guys with Wiggins and Lebron and in a year or 2 you’ve got a team that could make a serious run at the title.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantLaMarcus Aldridge tried the same power play with Portland last year. If the Wolves are only offered weak players like you are suggesting they are better off with the capspace and trying to win games like Kevin Love wants.
It isn’t a stretch for the Wolves to win 50 games and make the playoffs and Love being satisfied again.
Cleveland might have already promised LeBron before his signing that they would deal Wiggins for Love. If that is the case Cleveland had better do it since James has only signed for 2 years and there is no way of them winning with their current roster.
