Solomon9ParticipantAccording to Kevin Jones agent , KJ has recieved a First Round promise from a team. Many sources are saying it is the Golden State Warriors who have the 30th pick in the first round. Or the Atlanta Hawks who have the 24th. There also rumors saying that he outplayed Tyler Zeller and several other probable lottery picks in workouts with several teams according to some scouts.

kobyzParticipantsurprisedly, i belive in this, gonna move him to the first round in my mock.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantHe’s the kind of player that can help any team simply because of his leadership, heart, and of course his skill.

Wahoo757ParticipantReally?!?! I like his intangibles too, but a 6’7 251 pound PF that’s a below average athlete and doesn’t have a consistent 3 point shot nor highly refined post skills is going in the 1st round of one of the deepest drafts in recent memory! I had him as a mid to late 2nd round pick but I’ll need to adjust my mock now.

machu46ParticipantLol at him "outperforming" Tyler Zeller when they play different positions. Jones = Haslem without the defense. Zeller is a legit center.

jacobkeyParticipantI could see him continuing to develop his already solid jumper and becoming a poor man’s David West.

AKOOParticipantIt is definitely not the Hawks. They have Ivan Johnson, Josh Smith, and Al Horford who can all play the PF position. No way they promise a PF. Probably is Golden State.
Finally, the reporting of these promises are just over the top. I don’t believe this at all. Why would someone need to promise a guy that is a mid 2nd round prospect on most boards?

Tiger98Participantwhy? Cause KJ is awesome

benny15ParticipantWilson Chandler wasnt regarded as a first round prospect at all, but Isiah Thomas gave him a first round promise. Same could be said about Rodrigue Beurbois, wasnt regarded a first round pick but gave him a promise. but so that other teams wouldnt get an idea of how good he was, they dint make him shut down his work-outs but at the same time asked him to make it appear he doesnt understand english all that way. guys regarded as second round picks do get promises from late first rounders if they impress them enough in work-outs and interviews.

MalcolmxParticipantKevin Jones is a monster. He just is not a sexy player. We need to not fall in love with what looks nice but instead realize what is nice. He was ripping dudes apart this season. and he has a knack for rebounding, all teams can use some rebounds

TyroberParticipantI had him going 36th. Not much of a stretch to have him in the late twenties.

TMoney617ParticipantI think he can be a very solid role player. Think Udonis Haslem with possibly more range.

lilballa141ParticipantIve seen about 15 promises.. somebody is lying and no way the promise is from golden state…we have D-lee, Bogut, Beans, Jeremy Tyler (played very well the last bout 10ish games).. i think we go for an backup sf or guard at this pick

apb540ParticipantIvan Johnson getting a name drop in this thread

HaleParticipantI see no problem with it. He’s a good player and he’ll be a nice role guy for years to come.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/23/2012 - 6:43pm #686726

JNixonParticipantYou can get better, less limited players in a draft this deep, but he does have the feel of a solid rotation player who competes with high energy and motor

CynthiaParticipantAt one point I actually had him @ 30 to the Warriors, but then I changed it because I thought that was way too much of a reach due to his size and the fact that there are some other nice choices around 30. But this news whether true or not has me tempted to slip him back into 30 again…
Stupid rumors =/

Solomon9ParticipantThe Hawks might be trading Josh Smith just remember that. And he would be a great fit with the Warriors and form a great rebounding duo with David Lee and bring some scoring off the bench.

PrettyBoyPeeWeeParticipantWhat happen 2 the 1st round promise, hell he ain’t even get drafted.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/28/2012 - 6:27pm #690172

Wahoo757ParticipantI feel kind of sorry for Kevin Jones, but I’m not that surprised. I bought this for a minute brcause I thought it was from team sources but when I saw that his agent said this I knew it was smoke. I still though he’d get drafted late in the 2nd though, never want to see a kid, especially one that was this productive in college, go undrafted.
