Reptilian MonkParticipantMarc Stein is reporting that the Timberwolves are trying to bring KG back to Minnesota. The trade would be potentially for Thad Young. I dont know how realistic this is but it would be great to see KG fininsh up his career in Minnesota. After all his great years there of leading the Timberwolves and aspirations to eventually owning the team it would be a great story.

BiggysmallsParticipantIf we can con them into taking Budinger, I loooove this trade. Otherwise it’s just a salary dump and I think Thad carries some value to a contending team and would think someone would be willing to fork over a 1st round pick into the 20s or a young player.
I was hoping Toronto would swing and miss on West and maybe offer up Ross or their pick for Thad. I wouldn’t if I’m the raptors, but ya never know.

MopgrassParticipantI assume the Wolves get some sort of draft pick for it. They’d be taking on more salary, getting a (currently) better player, and they can get more value than Garnett for Thad. There must be something else in the trade.

nzsiderParticipantI think it is a great move for the Wolves.
Gives a veteran presence in the locker room and opens up the PF spot for Adrien Payne and Anthony Bennett to log some minutes.
Brooklyn still have some other assets that could be thrown in – Bogdanovic, Plumlee…

OverTimeCrunkParticipantAll i know is… that I’m buying tickets if KG returns to the Wolves and Target Center for the season and so on. Fact, To see the future Wolves young stars and Kevin Garnett on the court would be something a true wolves fan couldn’t miss in their life time. Would be something awesome that a Timberwolves fans could see. It would be like Jordan going back to the Bulls for his last year, but for a T’Wolves fans. And KG could even, just maybe, have one more season in him, for the older great wolf.

sitlbitoParticipantDon’t see a point here.I love bringing a veteran presence, but for less than 2 months I really don’t understand it. I think KG would vet that. He knows he doesn’t really have an impact on games today, the only ipact he has on the Brooklyn nets must be the improvements of Mason Plumlee.

HitsterParticipantIf Thad Young is likely to opt out this summer and the T-Wolves really want to tank to the maximum effect then the trade makes sense and if Thad did opt in then they will have saved salary. KG is playing very reduced minutes in Brooklyn and to make a two month homecoming would be a nice story.
The T-Wolves are a young team and KG as the senior pro would be a good presence plus his long term early career link up with Flip Saunders could lead to a mentoring/coaching/front office role for KG.
It has been stated to KG has been a good mentor to Plumlee in Brooklyn, KG could help polish Pekovic’s game a bit and with the T-Wolves having a likely very high draft pick. If they ended up picking one of Okafor, Towns or Turner etc then Flip could almost do what the Lakers did with Kareem and Bynum and turn the prospect over to KG post draft and say give him all the good advice you can. It would not be like Bynum not playing much in his opening year but the young big having KG to guide him would have an excellent mentor.
KG might even be able to do something with Anthony Bennett!
Back to KG returning as a player, I know it would be a sentimental run but he is fast approaching 50,000 minutes in his career and to reach that in the T-Wolves last home game and have him bow out then would be a great story. Plus the return of KG would generate ticket and merchandise sales, his first match back and last match would likely be hot tickets. The team are currently bottom of average NBA attendances this season so KG’s return would make an instant finacial boost to the franchise.
