ChicagoCaseyParticipant1)As most know there been a report that if Kevin Durant to leave Oklahoma City the main cities that he would go to is Los Angeles(L), New York, Miami, and Washington(D.C). Kevin Durant have since denied the Stephen A. Smith report and straight up called Stephen A. a liar given that he will go to LA, and that he did not speak to anyone close to him.
I do not like the fact that Kevin Durant called out Stephen A. Smith due to the fact because Stephen A. didn’t actually say what Kevin Durant believe he said. He actually said what he heard around the league. And to what I know is that Stephen A. Smith have sources and he was one of the people that broke the LeBron James to Miami and in the NFL the Tom Brady cell phone debacle. I fell like it was an overreaction on Kevin Durant and he never came out against anyone else that made a rumor about him.2)I been hearing that some of the LeBron James finals losses shouldn’t count on his resume. I find that laughable because if you make excuse about them losing in the finals you should make excuse to why the made it to the finals and make cases to why some of his finals wins “shouldn’t count”. That’s all I have been hearing this summer about his loss to the Golden State Warriors, and his first finals loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Nothing is mentioned about the fact that he’s playing in a horrible conference and only about one team each year for the east could challenge LeBron teams in the playoffs. Should that take away from LeBron success? No. But, we shouldn’t give LeBron a “pass” and take away his losses in the finals to build on his legacy.

OhCanada-ParticipantLebron is amazing people gotta stop nitpicking. This is one of the best basketball players ever. He would give any of the all time greats a real run for their money including Jordan, Bird, or Magic.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantNot nitpicking and not saying he isn’t great. I’m just stating what I heard all summer long that we should put an asterisk by his finals record because of the team he’s playing on and the team that he’s playing against. I’m just saying that why we don’t do that for why he got to the finals and who did he actually beat getting to the finals and who was injured on the way to the finals on the opposing teams.

Greek-Ballerno asterix but the Warriors title run is so overrated, its ridiculous. They have played injured team their whole playoff run, how is this supposed to be impressive? They beat Lebron, big deal. OKC and the Spurs could have easily taken the warriors out, they got lucky thats it.

SkalAndJamalParticipantItS cause they’ve had like 40 straight years of bad luck, it had to come around for them eventually 😛

frogmanParticipantWhat dumbfounds me is that Lebron is getting punished for making it to the Finals. Noone brings up the fact that he lost in the 2nd round in 2010 just like the fact noone brings up how Jordan lost numerous times in the 2nd round/Eastern Conference Finals. Isn’t that less of an achievement than making it to the Finals which Lebron constantly gets roasted for?

NBAjunkie81Participantever saw but none of them won anything alone…. Jordan never won a single playoff series w/o both Pippen & Grant / Rodman. In the 3 years in between Shaq & Gasol, Kobe’s Lakers averaged 38 wins & also failed to win a single playoff series…. Jordan only made 6 Finals. Magic made 9 Finals in 12 years in the League, I think that’s crazy amazing, but I’ve had people look me right in the face & say "but he lost 4 Finals" – they don;t mention that he lost those 4 Finals to the 3 of the Greatest teams to ever set foot on planet earth: Sixers, Celtics & Pistons. Had Magic played the teams Jordan’s Bulls played he would have won 9 Rings in 9 tries. Larry Bird had 9 healthy year s in the NBA – he finished in the top 5 for MVP his Rokkie year & over the next 8 years, he finished 1st or 2nd Every year for the MVP, he won 3 Rings & was the greatest clutch shooter I’ve ever seen but people will drag him down too…
We can pull down anyone we want to & it’s foolish b/c this is a team game… Obviously Lebron leading teams 6 times to Finals & 5 years in a row is an Insane accomplishment – Blake Griffin talked about how his body was destroyed this summer b/c the Clips made the 3rd round for the 1st time so James dragging injury riddle Heat & Cavs teams to the Finals is amazing.
What people don’t realize is that he’s being attacked b/c he’s on top right now. If Steph Curry leads Golden State to 3 straight Rings people will Hate on him… For people who are younger, I remember Jordan being attacked mercilessly as a guy who could never win before he won & then after he won he was a gambling degenerate & haters ripped him apart. Before Jordan, Bird & Magic would get ripped apart by haters… Isaiah Thomas & Detroit were the lovable team that took the big, bad celtics to the brink before losing but as soon as they started winning people hated them… This is just the way it is…. Any player who won even One Ring & One Finals MVP is considered – by NBA standards – an All Time Great… That’s not an opinion it’s a fact… Kobe was hated on relentlessly, Shaq was hatedon, Kareem, Wilt… It’s our culture, we build people up, but we louv to knock them down & when they beg we lift them back up…
No matter what anyone does in Life there are two reactions from two types of people – the negative people who hate to see anyone enjoy success & seek to pull them down & the postive people who marvel at the achievments of greatness & take inspiration from their efforts…. Both groups of people are happy to be where they are (I’m not judging) & there’s no point arguing b/c no one is ever going to say "wow you made a great point, I was so wrong…" So if you are a Lebron fan, just enjoy him while he’s playing (I do) & rest assured that when he retires he will Loved & the haters will move on to a new target…

Robb_CParticipantLol at the Warriors being overrated, they’re ELO rating during the season was one of the best the NBA has ever seen.. Golden State had the best team in the Nba last year.. LeBron is a great talent but his fanboys need to stop making excuses for him when he loses

SkalAndJamalParticipantELO rating lol? The same rating that has the 2009-10 Magic better than the 2000-2001 Lakers? Look we get that Golden State happened to have a great regular season, but you have to watch the games and realize Curry was going up against Dellvedova and Jason Terry the final rounds of the playoffs and clearly those two at this moment are borderline NBA players. Like come on, it’s like if Kobe back in the day didn’t have to play against Bruce Bowen and RayAllen but instead Matt Carroll

DolanCareParticipantI’m one of those that believe Lebron’s losses in the Finals shouldn’t be counted against him- to be specific, shoudn’t be used as a reason to rescind his earned place as a top 5 player of all time.
As you eluded, he wouldn’t have been to that many Finals if he played in the West. Simultaneously, it is statisically more likely that he would have a better team/mangagement if he played out West to begin with. For whatever reason, no legitimate one has been made yet, the East is disproportinately filled with bad teams with cruddy owners- doesn’t help that many have trouble selling out areans. (i.e Magic, Bucks, Bobcats, and Hawks until recently). The cold weather probably doesn’t help either frankly- besides Minnesota, no West team has a horrifically cold climate.
The fact that Lebron was able to will the Cavs past a veteran Pistons team when he was a child is ridiculous. The fact that the Cavs won two games against the Warriors last season is preposterous. The only real blemish on Lebron’s resume are the few times he choked. The time he underperformed against the Celtics was understandable since he was so young.
The passive no-shows against Dallas are the real knocks against the man. Surely not an episode that Jordan, Bird, Magic or Kobe had…. but his accomplishes have dwarfed that moment in his life to just that- a moment in life.
