SkalAndJamalParticipantI know this beating a dead horse when it comes to a star going to the Lakers but, according to Stephen A. Smith, who is real tight with the NBA superstars, said KD to LA is a real possibility and then Colin Cowherd followed up by confirming that. I think if LA can make a good run this year and make the playoffs, which includes the young talent making a huge stride this year, Hibbert gets back to being one of the best centers in the NBA, it definitely brings a lot of appeal to stars to want to be part of the Los Angeles Lakers again. It’s kind of like when Melo demanded to go to the Knicks, it took that team to be 4th in the east to finally push the Nuggets to trade him.
If he is thinking about this now, and things work out with the young players making a huge leap, Hibbert does a great job being the
last-line of defense, the bench is strong with Lou Will exploding, it would be difficult for Durant to not imagine himself being that missing piece at small forward, and he leads this young team eventually to the top. History does repeatitself though, the 1995-96 Lakers went 53-29, was Magic’s last year, they had young talent with Eddie Jones, Van Exel, Ceballos who all had solid years. The year after, Shaq comes. At the end of the day though this
wont happen if the playersdont prove it on the court.0 - Posted on: Thu, 10/01/2015 - 8:15am #1015896

SkalAndJamalParticipantYou don’t remember the time Isaiah Thomas said he wanted to play for the Lakers last year?

Magic JordanParticipantNot to mention if Kobe does retire, they could have upwards to 60 to 70 million to spend in free agency. That is KD plus room for another max. Or some solid players.
Though any statement that has "relying on Hibbert". Usually isn’t a good sign.
Eventually the Lakers will strike gold as they did a few years back with Chris Paul, then again with Dwight Howard…(hindsight is a mofo). They won’t be bottom dwellars forever.

MopgrassParticipantHas OKC ever tried to bring in a big free agent? Since they’ve gotten good, they haven’t had the cap space. They won’t next year. That extra cap space in LA would allow KD to bring a few friends (someone at the max). Who wouldn’t want to play with Durant? Kobe might agree to a smaller contract if they can swing Durant. A few free agents and some youth makes them a solid team. Still not the top team.

SkalAndJamalParticipantWe’ll really just have to see what this team can do. You can only say "if" so much

SkalAndJamalParticipantSkip and stephen A domt. Know what they are talking about most of the time in terms of what is basketball. BUT it’s no secret Stephen A, despite these guys not teaching him the game, that he knows the right people in this industry.

NBAjunkie81ParticipantK.D. is the a franchise changing free agent though & if L.A. could get him (or Westbrook) it would be a Monster move but one thing the talking heads in the National Media keep neglecting to mention is that the Max free agents really have not been moving – remember last summer & the summer before – ALL that talk & the only guy whose team still wanted him that moved was Aldridge & he is 30 – I’m not criticizing anyone, all I’m saying is that it’s easy to say anything but when you are about to leave $20 Million on the table to go to another team, very few guys can do it… & I realize the Lakers have struck Gold by luring Kareem & Shaq in the past but the Showime Lakers were built through Incredibly shrewd trades that got them draft picks they used to draft Magic & Worthy. Kobe was another Shrewd draft day deal… Look around pro sports at the All time Great franchises: the Yankees, 49ers, Cowboys, Patriots, Lakers & Celtics & what do they ALL have in common? A self made man owned the team… When the children of great men take over their empires they have No idea of the lessons & innumerable failures those men learned to get where they were & Believe me it matters – I don’t trust Stephen Jones in Dallas & I do not trust the Buss children – times change & brilliant successful business people change with them – It feels like the Buss kids think they can just Buy NBA Rings & that is Not what their father did – look up how the Great Celtics & akers teams of the 80’s were built, it’ll blow your mind & then ask yourself if you see that kind of genius in the currect Lakers brass… mind you i LUV the NBA which means I LUV it when the Lakers & Celtics are great, I am not a Lakers hater – I Want them back in the Title mix & I would LUV to see Kobe have another run at a Ring….

CynthiaParticipantI may be bias but I don’t see KD leaving OKC anytime soon. Maybe in his 30’s if they fail to get a championship. That being said, if he does leave it will most likely be to the Wizards or Nets. Wizards because he’s from the area originally and they actually have a promising lineup as opposed to the joke that is LA; Nets are a possibility due to his connections with Jay-Z, but I think this one is pretty unlikely.
I just see Durant as a loyal lifer, unless something goes horribly wrong. If Donovan is a massive failure, or if something happens behind the scenes between him & Westbrook I can see Durant jumping ship. Other than that though I think he will be in Oklahoma for quite a while longer, people forget this team is still incredibly young and will only continue to get even better even though they’re already championship caliber. Last year was a freak injury season, people need to stop acting like the Thunder are all of a sudden a middle of the pack team just because of last years results.

SkalAndJamalParticipantHold up, we don’t know if this LA squad is a "joke". Theyve added like 6 new players in their rotation this year that weren’t there last year.

SkalAndJamalParticipantAnd about Durant, he comes off more as a lowkey type of player, so it’s hard to really get a read about how he feels about OKC cause he for the most part is the type of guy to just hold it in.

Robb_CParticipantHow many small market teams have won a title outside of the spurs in the last 20 years??
figure out that answer and youll realize why Durant wants to leave to chase a title

PulseGlazerParticipantCompete for a title includes making the finals, I’d have to assume… so Clev, OKC, SA, Orlando…
