will it happen?0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/01/2009 - 12:51pm #194222
Celtics341I dont think so. I think LBJ and Durant will be the 1-2 guys in the NBA in the next 3 years. But Durant will never be number 1 in the NBA. LBJ is a walking Triple-double.

don042488ParticipantWhen Kobe get’smore up and up in age, LeBron will take # 1 and Durant will take # 2, as the best players in the league

jerb2011ParticipantIt could happen, depending on this year for KD, because LeBron became “the King” his 3rd year and if KD can have a better, greater impact on the NBA (ppg-rpg-apg wise, as well as efficiency) he could be. It is unlikely to me that it will happen, but did anybody at Michael Jordan’s high school think he would be the best basketball player ever after being cut from the team his junior year?

JNixonParticipantThe only way Durant gets better than Lebron is if LeBron’s knees get bad from carrying all the muscle he has and wears down. Durant also could be better when Lebron gets over the hill, because Durant doesnt rely on athleticism (which you only have so many years of) to be effective, while Lebron does for the most part. Also if Durant sures up is overall game (mostly passing, defending, and rebounding) to LeBron’s level I could see it happening.

B-ball fanParticipantLeBron will be better for the next five years, but Durant will be better for longer because of his shooting prowess will help him when he is older and his joints are carrying much less weight

IndianaBasketballParticipantWow… I understand this is the offseason and people are looking for something to debate about, but… Come on now. This shouldn’t even be a topic of discussion. This is silly.
This article mentions that KD is only 20 years old. Well, are they forgetting that LeBron is only 24? It’s not like as KD improves, LeBron will be at a standstill. LeBron is a gymrat too. LeBron has been so good so soon, that a lot of people take him for granted. I mean, just look at this man’s regular season and playoff career numbers. The thing about LeBron is his potential is unlimited. Literally. I don’t think he has a ceiling. KD will be an AMAZING offensive player, but can you really say his potential is unlimited? No way… Can you see KD ever averaging 30 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game in one season? That’s what LeBron did in 2007-2008, when he was only 23! KD will be nice, maybe a better pure scorer than LeBron, but he’ll never be on LeBron’s level.
LeBron has gotten a lot of criticism lately. There are a few people on this site that have been criticizing his weaknesses to a point of pure disgust! “He’s not a great rebounder.” “He’s not a great shooter.” “He’s not a great on-ball defender.” “He has no go-to move.” “He’s not a great free-throw shooter.” After the loss to Orlando I even read comments like, “He doesn’t make his teammates better.” LOL… What?!?!?! I’ve never seen another player at such a young age make his teammates better like LeBron does. Is he a great rebounder? No, but he’s a very good one. He gives you almost 8 a game. He’ll average 10 soon enough. Is he a great shooter? No, but he’s improved each season. He also shoots a very high field goal percentage (47% for his career). Is he a great on-ball defender? No, but he improved LEAPS and BOUNDS last season. He was GREAT off the ball and weakside. Does he have a go-to move yet? No, but I can guarantee you that he’ll get one! Is he a great free-throw shooter? No, but last season he shot 78%, which was the best of his career!
I suggest people quit being so quick to criticize! He’s 24 and he will get better. He’s met everyone’s expectations so far. Truth is we ain’t never seen a player like him.

sheltwon3ParticipantI like Durant and while it is possible for him to overtake Lebron, I dont see it happening anytime soon but I think in the next few years it will be debateable who is better.
