I see a lot of flack going towards the NBA and Kevin Durant because he decided to go to the Warriors. People are saying that they won’t watch the NBA anymore because of the decision, the NBA is pointless to watch for the foreseeable future, this is a bad look/move on the NBA, and more in the line of that. I disagree with the whole thing that this move hurt the NBA for a various reasons. Do the Warriors look unstoppable and the clear cut favorites? Yes. But, we said the same thing throughout last season regular season and when they were up 3-1 on the Cavs.

This move does not make the NBA less watchable. The NBA viewership keep increasing and their ratings keep increasing. I believe this move actually helps the NBA because it gives the NBA another villau in Kevin Durant, seems strange that KD is now the villain. Also, their are tons of great young players in the NBA and great young teams in the NBA. The Timberwolves, Lakers, Sixers, and etc… will be fun to watch. Anthony Davis/Buddy Hield, Ben Simmons/Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, and more great young players will be exiting to watch next year. Also, you have the Knicks who brought in ton of familiar faces that can draw intrigue.

People say this will hurt the parity of the game of basketball, no it would not. The parity was not there last year, the year before that, the year before that, and many other years. Every year there are about 4-6 teams that have a realistic chance of winning the championship or going to a conference championship. Everyone knows that. The Thunder just got elimated from that group, that’s all that happened. The Cavs, Warriors. Spurs, Celtics, Raptors, Clippers, and Memphis are the ones that fit that catogory. Also, people need to stop using the NFL as an example a parity because the NBA have more different conference championship teams than the NFL over the last 10 or so years.

This is not a bad look on the NBA or does this make the NBA less enjoyable to watch. There’s exiting young teams/players to watch. There’s always the same number of teams that can realistically win the championship each year. No one knows what will actually happen in the foreseeable future. You do not have to watch the Warriors to have an enjoyable time watching the NBA.

This is not the first or the last time that there will be a super team. We just had one in Miami, that didn’t "hurt" the NBA, it made it more enjoyable. We had one with Boston with their big 4, that didn’t kill the NBA. And the don’t say "back in the day they didn’t have super teams" and that "Magic and Bird would never form a super team" because they had like 4 other hall of fame players playing with them when they won their rings. The Celtics does not have all those numbers retired because of nothing, they had super teams. Lakers had a hall of famer on the bench. The Kevin Durant to Golden State move is not new or it won’t be the last super team in the league. If you don’t like the idea of super teams that’s cool, but having super teams does not hurt the league or make it worst.

Same people who clog up the freeways looking at a car accident. Doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. The kardashians get ratings too.

I get were you coming from and i agree that super teams are necessarily bad for the league but i think this team has the potential to be. Lets say they walk through the west with ease, smoke the cavs in the finals and go on to win 3 or 4 straight championships, if no legitimate threat were to emerge that kind of dominance could definitely hurt the NBA.

I also disagree with this situation not being unique to the NBA . The Warriors went 73 – 9 and were less one minute away from being back to back champions, they were already a super team. I can’t ever recall a superstar joining an already existing super team.

As far as parity goes this has definitely hurt that as well. At least in the west because the Cavs will most likely cruise to the finals agian.  If Durant had stayed with OKC the west would have had 3 or 4 teams that had a realistic shot at a championship with the Spurs, OKC, and the Clippers having a punchers chance of beating GS but now its hard to imagine any of the teams beating the warriors in a 7 game series.
