halfdecayedParticipantNow that they lost to the T Wolves tonight, The warriors need to win their last 4 games to beat the Bulls record.. This means that Kerr probably couldn’t afford to rest his starters before the playoffs.. They will face the Spurs twice, and we are not sure if Pop will sit his starters.. But let’s not forget the Grizz play hard nosed basketball and have alot of dummys on their roster; if one hard foul injures someone like Curry, Thompson or Green, their championship hopes are over IMO because of how good the Spurs are…
So the question is : Would you sit your starters or go for the record ?

Hype MachineGo for the record. No question
All time wins record + championship = greatest team ever.
Every basketball fan in the world knows the Bulls have the record. And everyone knew the Lakers had the record before then. Its as memorable as a championship.
Its making history…dont pussy out over a few extra minutes.

CanadianGMParticipantI could see Pop resting his starters in Golden State but going for the win in SA and try to finish undefeated at home. If I’m Golden State and I happen to lose 1 of the next 3, then that game against Memphis, I’d see if the backups can win me the game. Even if Golden State loses, it might mean the difference between playing Memphis in the first round or playing Houston. I d be angling my way to play Memphis in the first round if the record is out of question get some rest before a tougher second round matchup and Golden State can do exactly that with 2 of 4 against Memphis.

D7H7NParticipantThe goal is to two-peat. If resting your starters will help toward that goal then you need to do it.

NBAjunkie81ParticipantThat 96 Bulls team featured 35 y/o Rodman; 33 y/o Jordan & 31 y/o Pippen…… These Warriors are 23 to 27 years old…. They are going to be Great for a Long time yet……..
It seems like it’s grinding on them……. And honestly No one considers that 96′ Bulls team even the Best Bulls team of All Time….. Any Teams that wins over 65 games is up there w/ All Time Greats……
IMHO I’d rest some of these guys…. Physically I’m sure they are fine but the playoffs are a Mental grind…….
A big part of getting the #1 seed is being able to mentally Veg out for 2 to 3 weeks before that brutal playoff run……..

SubZeroParticipantHonestly I’d want to go for the record, but I’m not the one getting paid to make those decisions. I’m sure the players would rather get the record than rest, and I’m sure Kerr’s torn because he’d probably love to break (partly) his own record. But the smart thing to do would be to rest his guys once they’ve secured the #1 seed

StraightOuttaMyMineParticipantWhat do you mean by Memphis has a lot of dummies on their roster??????? Gs will split the games with Spurs and fall short of the record!!!!!!! GS warriors beat Memphis earlier in the season with a healthy Grizzlies roster!!!!!!!! Memphis has signed every point guard imaginable the last two months!!!! I heard Dylann qualls is up next!!!!!

Jr. ROXASParticipantI’d still want for them to go for the record. I mean, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to have your names immortalized in the history books.

benny15Participanti dont think its even a question, you go forward with eyes on the play-offs and championship. yeah the record would be great, but if it happens it happens. you always put your team in the best possible case to win it all. im hoping the warriors sit klay, dray and steph in the next game, which happens to be against the spurs, to show that they have their priorities straight.
and besides, just resting those 3 doesnt mean that they are giving up on the remaining games this season. if they play exceptionall deffense we know they can and execute on offense they can still win games.

Hype MachineMan, you guys are way too conservative.
It’s killing me…..Are you guys all tax accountants, safety inspectors and crosswalk attendants?
Where’s your sense of excitement. Give the people what they want! It’s not even that much risk, and the reward is glorious!
I know I’m the hype machine, but I wouldn’t need to play it up so much if everyone on here wasn’t so damn sensible.
Remind me never to go to your parties…it would consist entirely of celery sticks and mineral water.
If it was a dress-up theme, we’d have 30 Captain Buzzkills and Mall Cops.
The record is there for the taking and may never be beaten in our lifetime. GO FOR GLORY!

D7H7NParticipantAn arbitrary record at this point is worth the risk of getting your star players get injured, okay.

r377ParticipantIn all seriousness. Pop and the spurs are so crafty they will prob rest their own starters against them in regular season and let them win, then come back to beat them in the Western Finals…..

CynthiaParticipantWhile the record would be nice, in the grand scheme it doesn’t mean jack. The goal of a season is to win the championship.
Either way they’re in a win-win situation, if they get it they will be praised. If they fail to get it, they will simply blame it on needing to rest before the playoffs and claim it was "not important" and the fans will of course believe their lies. So they have an easy out if they don’t end up getting the record.

goddagParticipantCurry looked real tired in the 4th quarter last night. Dramond fouled out and is slower now. I kind of agree with what Shaq said at half, the record is nothing, compared to the goal of winning the Championship. That’s the goal of every team when the season starts. The starting five for GS has been playing huge minutes all year long. And it’s starting to show. Look at his shooting percentage the last month. MN forcing them into overtime last night sure didn’t help matters, forcing them to play Curry more yet.

Toronto16ParticipantWhy go for the record while burning out your team? You’re only the 4th team in NBA history to win at least 69 games, just be happy with that, rest your starters and hope your B team steals a game or 2 against Memphis.

tuck243ParticipantAnd they DON’T know what the future will hold. So saying "they’re young" is dumb as hell. Go for the record… If you have an opportunity to be considered the best team in history you take that. Jordan and them didn’t do that. They had enough confidence in their ability to not only win the record, but having enough energy for the playoffs as well…
Pop is a great coach, but his formula isn’t the only way to go about it. Spurs are already out of the running for the record and can’t get first place. So, it’s no point for him to play his players right now. GS has a reason to play though…
