valentineJay Williams said Isaac Humphries is a future #1 pick.
Strange…I recall saying that on this website about 4 times and everyone was like ‘wtf is Isaac Humphries?’…
So for those who didn’t pay attention the first 4 times….think Marc Gasol.
I believe my exact words for his absence on the 2017 mock was ‘bush league scouting’
What else went down at the combine aside from fabricated verticals?

Rip256Note to fans of basketball scouting….when a guy is the best player at the entire FIBA U17 World Championships and hes between 12-24 mths younger than everyone else…its probably a good sign that hes pretty good.

kazamParticipantHumphries was great at that U17 competition. I don’t know if he’s a future #1 but he will be a lotto pick without a doubt.

Rip256Correct you are Genie Shaq.
Hes the most skilled 7footer in the class. Those dudes generally go top 3..Eg Kat, Okafor etc.

Normally the negs dont bother me….but this time it does.
Because it means that the first thing youve done wasn’t researching a future #1 pick..which you all need to do since you clearly dont know the first thing about him.
Only competition for the #1 pick in 2017 is Thon Maker.
Aussies ftw.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantYou must be the biggest troll on here (besides T-Rex…. or you T-Rex with a new name), or you are not informed about the talent level of the 2017 class. The 2017 class have Josh Jackson, Malik Monk, Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum, and plenty more that’s more deserving than Humphries as the number one overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Rip256Im not actually sweating on your comments all that much cos I know you’ll be watching Kentucky games weekly.
Before then, have a look at where other Kentucky Big men have gone in the last few drafts.
Ahh forget it…thats probably just a coincidence.

CDPHParticipantI’ve wrote about the Humphries situation a decent amount on my site (www.deepishthoughts.com) and I’m actually very high on him as well. I don’t know if he ever reaches the peaks Gasol has (and I think came along 10 years to late), but I do think he projects as a guy who can become a very good NBA center.
Rip256 hits the nail on the head when talking about Humphries performance at the U17’s, that isn’t easy to do and it’s something that needs to be taken very seriously when projecting forward. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s practicing against Skal, Marcus Lee, Derek Willis, Poythress, etc… and in a couple months Tai Wynyard will join that group as well.
He’ll need a couple years, but I believe he’s going to be very, very good.

NBAjunkie81Participantnice signing by Kentucky to add to 5 star recruits Jamal Murray, Isaiah Briscoe & Skal Labissiere… I luv that the 6’11” 250 lb Humprhies signed w/ Kentucky & is not avoiding the loaded talent pool & heavy competition for playing time…
If he’s a special talent, he will rise to the top… Afterall, this time last year D’Angelo Russell was not even ranked in the top 60 for the class of 2015 – translated, w/ only 60 Draft slots, no scouts thought he would be drafted… Thx for the post, I’m always eager for Any info on foriegn players…

Rip256I like the Cut of your Jib Junkie.
But if he’s 4 star…they need to ACTUALLY WATCH HIM PLAY! Hes a 5 star big man in every sense.
Cos like the wise post above states…hes a very talented player.
Hes not a ‘mix tape’ kinda guy…sad how much that actually matters theae days.
If he had a mix tape though, i would be like eating a whole box of vanilla donuts. Awesome…yet vanilla.

Rip256Rips scouting report
Pros –
Size (could be biggest guy in NBA around 300lbs when 22yo). Loves to bang. Doesnt miss hook shots.
Touch – Out to mid range, and high FTs. Expect 60% fg
IQ – Great passer. Dude is actually an awesome piano player too (side info) and sounds nerdy lol
Cons
Not an athlete (too big). Nice footwork though
Smart defender…but not explosive with long wingspan
Younger than everyone else
Floor: Chris Kaman (already been ripped for this)
Likely: Marc Gasol
Ceiling: Arvydas Sabonis
Prediction: First center chosen in the 2017 draft.

ncballerRip,
I don’t believe that people are negging you because of the content of your post, but the way in which you framed your declaration. Most logical people would agree that you and Jay Williams could be right, but at this time Humphries has not played a division I college basketball game yet. For the most part it is a bold prediction at the moment, which is fine. I for one love bold predictions, and I love pulling for the under-the-radar guy.
I believe had you framed it something like, "Hey guys, it might be early, but Jay Williams sees in Humphries what I see and just said that he is a future number 1 pick. Check out this link to see his playing style (with a youtube link)", that your points feedback would have been a lot better, simply because you aren’t making a sweeping declaration while pseudo putting down other posters in the process.
Logically speaking, it does not make any sense to crown him the number 1 draft pick without playing a single game yet. However, boldly stating a prediction such as "it may sound crazy, but I think he could be number 1 in 2017" comes across as a lot more professional and respectable than what you posted.
Just my two cents. Again, love the prediction bro, but if you are looking for better feedback points wise, than I would work on framing the bold predictions a lot more professionally.

ChewyParticipantbut what do you guys think UK’s starting line up/ minutes distribution are going to be this year?
Excited to see Ulis with an increased role.

SkalAndJamalParticipantHe really didnt do much at La Lumiere and he apparently has a terrible attitude. He is pretty soft too from what I have heard. 2017 #1 pick is forsure either Josh Jackson, Dennis Smith, De’Aaron Fox, Harry Giles or Jaylen Brown. Just watch.

Rip256Haha that is a top 5 worst post ever for accuracy of talent evaluation. *screenshot*
I got called a troll earlier in this thread too. If you can send me a single credible source that backs up those claims, I’ll buy you a beer.
Hes better than Labissiere. Sorry to throw salt on your boy. If youre a Kentucky fan…Im not sure you quite know what a talent you have here.
Jamal Murray recommended him to Kentucky after he lit Canada up for 41 points!

SkalAndJamalParticipantCalipari, his own coach, compared Humphries to Josh Harrellson, and you say this kid’s floor is Chris Kaman, a one-time all-star.

You need to stop thinking the NBA is in Australia. No one just comes here and just runs ish.

Rip256Platoon. Its a good concept to attract recruits.
Guarantee prospects 16-24 mpg.
If they play well…top end of the range.
Probably not that good for winning big games.
Cal only cares about the stock of his players though.
