qDizzle32ParticipantWhich players from this year’s team do you guys think will return? Both of the Harrisons should definitely stay but not sure how much their desire would be even though it would be very smart of them. Karl Towns and Trey Lyles coming in make it hard for Dakari Johnson and Marcus Lee. Neither of those two are anywhere near ready for the NBA and the majority of the top recruits coming out of high school would prefer to not transfer and sit out a year. Alex Poythress would be nothing better than a second round pick if he comes out and since Stanley Johnson didn’t pick Kentucky, he definitely will be the starting SF unless the Harrisons stay and Cal starts Booker at the 3 which is unlikely since he’s another SG. It’s a unique situation playing for Kentucky where one could be a MDAA bound player and still not be a starter by their Junior year, when they could be the star player for other big conference schools. Julius Randle, Willie Cauley-Stein and James Young sound like the only locks to come out for the draft so which players could help Kentucky start next season at #1 for the second season in a row by returning?
Likely declaring: Julius Randle, Willie Cauley-Stein and James Young
Incoming Recruits: Karl Towns, Trey Lyles, Devin Booker and Tyler Ulis
On the bubble to declare: Andrew Harrison, Aaron Harrison, Alex Poythress, Dakari Johnson (Not ready for the NBA but it’s possible)
Likely Returning Rotation Players: Marcus Lee, Dominique Hawkins, Derek Willis

nick5354ParticipantI love how everyone is so quick to post about how good they preseason and the players they are recuirting then once they don’t live up to those insane expectations people move onto hyping the next draft class Kentucky has and the next season.

TarHeelRavenParticipantI have not been impressed with the Harrison twins at all. They were way oberhyped coming out of high school. They need to stay another year more than any Kentucky player has ever needed to. Do they? I think it’s doubtful.

samosasParticipantNobody likes the Harrison twins that I can tell, and that’s coming from a Kentucky fan. They don’t play hard, they’re slow, they don’t play defense and they aren’t athletic. I actually think they will both stay. There were NBA talent scouts buying town homes in Lexington just so they could watch practices. They don’t come to practices nearly as much as they used to. I don’t think they’ll be projected to go first round, or second for that matter.

FastAndFuriousParticipantI agree the Harrison twins were overhyped, because James Young is by far UK’s best perimeter player and it isnt close.

JamesBaker3195ParticipantI think the twins will come back unless they blow up by the end of the year. Poythress will probably stay another year too because hes gotten lost in the shuffle with the recruiting class hype.Derek Willis a no-brainer return. Marcus Lee really wants to play in the league but his stock isnt high so he’ll return. Dakari Johnson returns as well to get the exposure he needs next year.

samosasParticipantPoythress will be back because he’s too big of a wuss to leave. Harrison’s will be back because they won’t get picked up. Randle, Willie and Young are 100% sure going.

HitsterParticipantWith Coach Cal having had so many loaded recruitment classes in recent years, we always tend to link and star HS player to UK. But with UK being a powerhouse NCAA team and Coach Cal’s record of one and done guys, a lot of star prospects naturally have UK near the top of their wishlist.
With UK having a loaded freshman class nearly every year, sometimes it can make it harder for players who wish to return, if there is a star prospect incoming could UK "encourage" a player to declare just to keep the roster place free and maybe not upset the incoming player. Also if a returning player found himself playing behind an incoming player then his draft stock could drop right down.
