The8thDeadlySinParticipantThink about it, where is his competition? With the Nuggets losing 3 players to China for most of the year, that leaves him to compete with Al Harrington for the starting spot.. While Harrington is a good player in his own way, his strength is scoring for a second unit. If the Nuggets can hold on to Nene and Aflallo, they will begin to build around those 2 and Lawson. Faried can be a big part of this rebuild along with Gallo. The vets (Miller, Harrington, Anderson) will serve as a terrific bench. This core of eight could do work. Look at this rotation.
PG: Lawson – Fantastic player who can score whole he gets other players involved. Very promising as a starting PG.
SG: Aflallo – Great defender who showed he is starting to create for himself. Very good spot up shooter from deep. Great wing for Lawson.
SF: Gallo – Great shooter from anywhere on the floor. Has shown that he can do more than score though. A serviceable rebounder and is really good at finding the open man. Maybe a little Hedo in his game.
PF: Faried – Young, exciting big man. Carries springs in his socks. Great defender and rebounder with a developing offensive game.. Well, his offense is bad. However, that isn’t exactly a bad thing. He won’t be taking shots away from guys who need to be taking them.
C: Nene – Scoring big man with the body to be a force. Strong, explosive, and efficient. 20 points a game with 8 rebounds.

JunkYardDogParticipant…. but nene seems to want to taste something new (houston, new jersey, miami, golden state, new york…. everybody will chase him more or less). Mozgov could benefit from this to gain some playing time.
afflalo is restricted FA and some teams are going to chase him too (like the bulls). Denver will have to pay him big money to keep him here.
Lawson has been absolutely horrible in zalgiris kaunas (which was a big surprise for lots of people here in europe)… he will need to prove himself now that felton is gone
… but I’m completely agree with you about ken’ faried who should be successfull from day 1 : boards, defense, heart, run and dunk in transition (lawson will love playing with him).

NCarmean18ParticipantAs a Nuggets fan I really hope (and think that) this will happen. Martin, Chandler, & J.R. Smith are all in China, and won’t be returning until after the Chinese season.
I agree with almost everything you had to say except for Nene. Nene wants to get paid and he wants to win, too. I don’t think we want to spend the money on the center, though he’s only 28, he has been injury prone and he will want a huge contract that he won’t be worth. Am I saying he isn’t worth a nice contract? Absolutely not, but he wants a Team-MVP type contract whenever we have other guys that can contribute just as much as he can in different areas. So, I think we lose Nene and sign a smaller, veteran center from the free agency and have a mix of minutes between that player, Chris Anderson, and young center Timofey Mozgov who has shown signs to be a decent role-playing center coming off of the bench.
Like you said before, all Kenneth Faried has to worry about is Al Harrington who which Denver may try to trade or even cut. Harrington came in last year to help Carmelo in the scoring department which obviously didn’t end the way people would have liked. Especially Nuggets fans. I think Faried will start and even split the minutes with Al Harington. Around 20 minutes per player. Faried can be that spark plug for our team because of his defensive potential, his ability to fight for rebounds, and his overall hustle and athleticism is crazy for a 6’7" PF. Plus, having Ty Lawson there to throw up some alley-oops will never hurt his cause. Faried should make an all-rookie team this year and will be a breakout rookie.

natedogggParticipantthe nuggets will have money to make a run at a PF however. maybe not David West, but Carl Landry’s name has come up a fair.

JayhawkFan23ParticipantI think Nene should stay in denver.

r377ParticipantI think it all comes down to Nene. With him they can prob make a run at the playoffs. Without him they will be in the lottery and might need to rebuild or add a couple more pieces.
Anyway I love Faried, I am looking forward to watching him play….

stifler101ParticipantAs far as Faried…I’ve been thinking this too. Despite the guys they lost to China, theyr’e going to have some offensive players that need to be in control of the scoring. But Faried is the guy on the roster who can really get after it doing the dirty work. He’s a perfect player to have working his tail off getting rebounds and when it comes down to it, do you really think a guy like Al Harrington could put forth the effort necessary to win a starting job over Faried? No.
As for Nene and Afflalo, if the Nuggets can sign them back then I agree with you that the Nuggets will have a nice team that should make the playoffs again. However, if they lose either of them I think they’ll struggle mightily to do so. With the 3 players they lost to China, they just wouldn’t have the depth to compensate anymore.
