Seamo15ParticipantCurrently the Jazz are slated to pick Marshall with their pick. This would eventually, based on the expectations that Marshall will be a productive starter in a few seasons, render Harris redundant. With Harris still reasonably young, and more than likely not keen to take a reserve role, what move will the jazz make with him. He has stepped up his productiveness lately but I still see him on the out. Marshall is the best rated option at their pick, but do you take him and get rid of Harris , or draft for their needs?

dede21Marshall is whoresh1t Doug Gottlieb Pepe Sanchez type, he will be playing in Turkey and Burks will start with Harris backing up both guard spots.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantIt now appears that the Jazz might not have any 1st round picks this year..Becuz the Warriors won the tie-breaker with the Raptors and unless that pick lands outside of the top 7 they’ll keep it…And Houston will keep its lottery protected pick..So maybe the Jazz can target Machado,Bost or Teague in the 2nd round…

Meditated StatesParticipantNot fast and weak on D. Not a big fan of Harris but he has speed and is solid on D.

NihochuParticipantI think a lot will depend on how the playoffs go , if he Harris can play well in the postseason his whole sub par regular season will be forgotton.

SwatLakeCityParticipantSeamo, as Rudeboy said, Utah is more likely to lose their lottery pick than they are to keep it since the Warriors won the tiebreaker with Toronto. Meaning that this site has not updated their lottery yet. So they most likely will not be "slated" to get Kendall Marshall. Furthermore slated is a misused term. This site has not factored in team needs yet and will not do so until the lottery order is decided, which won’t happen until sometime mid May. So what this site has as the current draft lottery is more like a big board. It is not a preview or a prediction of the lottery picks.
So the best chance Utah has at getting a new point guard is to sign one or trade for one in the offseason. They should do all they can to sign Goran Dragic. He can both pass and shoot well. He has learned from future HOF Steve Nash, and deserves to start for the entire season, not just when the top point guard is injured. They have the money to do so because of all their trade exceptions. They still have Dwill’s trade exception as well as Mehmet Okur’s too. (I believe Okur’s is for about 10 million a year!) So they could sign Dragic for 5 years at about 32 mil, which should be more than enough. Dragic is an unrestricted free agent so Utah won’t have to worry about any offer sheets or the chance of Houston keeping him. Of course they want to keep him, but they don’t have that much money in order to do so, because he is looking for a bigger contract now that he has proven what he can do if he starts.
For those that are upset that Utah might not get a chance to look at Lillard or Marshall, don’t worry Utah still has the Warriors pick in the 2013 draft, and that year they could possibly get Lorenzo Brown who should be even better than Marshall or Lillard. He has the size (he’s even bigger than Marshall!), the passing skills (averaged 6 assists this year as a sophomore!), shooting skills, and I believe his defense is better than Marshall’s is too. So by not picking this year Utah is more likely to get a better point guard than they could have gotten this year had GSW lost their pick.

bloodshyParticipantAfter GS won the coin toss it moved GS to the #7 spot and pushed Toronto to the #8 spot. There remains a 28% chance (and 72% chance of it not happening) that a team picking 8-14 in the lotto will move up into the top 3, bumping GS back to the #8 spot, which would give the pick back to Utah.
As UnderKanter said, Dragic is the best fit available for the Jazz right now. He’s a much more proven commodoty than any rookie and the Jazz have a lot of $ to throw around for the next two years. As long as they structure a front-heavy deal with him, Dragic would be an amazing pick-up. He’s a high level shooter, passer and pick pocket.
If the Jazz do get GS’s pick, I just want the best player available. If that’s a 1, take it. The more likely scenario is that it will be something else. I like several 1s in this draft, but none would deserve the keys in year 1 and the Jazz are ready to win now. We need someone w/a more proven track record.
