FUTURE GMParticipantJohnny Flynn has way more potiential.. he is like a 5’10 version of Derrick Rose with a more reliable jumpshot.. Kemba Walker is straight but he will never be a lotto pick or more then a backup in the NBA

MagikKnickParticipantThis is a damn good, but I like Jonny Flynn better
But I guess thats just me taking proven over potential0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/11/2009 - 6:18am #199087

Bryant24Participantflynn is better with more potential flynn is a little guy but he is strong enough to take damage kemba walker isnt walker might be faster but flynn isnt slow either so i would take flynn

Untouchable JParticipantThis aint no good comparison git this nonsense outta here. What about Kemba Walker’s game projects that he even makes it to the NBA? Let alone compare him to a top 10 pick.
At this point, he’s quick and from NY. Thats it.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantDon’t forget, Jonny Flynn was a top10 pick in a relatively weak draft. I’m a Twolves fan and I hope Jonny is as good as ppl are making him out to be, but we shouldn’t forget that this year’s draft class was kinda weak, and that being a top10 pick in this class might not mean the same thing as it has menat in previous years… That said, I still think Jonny has more potential than Kemba. I do think Kemba will be a decent NBA player, though. I think he gets overshadowed a little playing on the stacked UCONN squad.

jordanrose13ParticipantI was so surprised at his 40″ vert at the combine. I hope he goes in the dunk contest.

QHaynes20I like this topic. I’m gonna go with Kemba Walker. He will get a chance this season to show how good he really is. He is a projected starter in the NBA his game is very good and in spurts last season, he was talked about as a mid 1st round pick

xbadgerhustlerParticipantwhat makes u say he’s a ‘projected starter’ and is Jonny not a ‘projected starter’? I donno… I don’t think Kemba has the star potential of Jonny, but I do think he’s a very solid player. I think he’s a more pure ‘PG’ than Jonny for sure.

QHaynes20I never said Flynn is not a projected starter….
I saw both play. I saw Walker play a couple time lives (Rice and Uconn) and Flynn (syracuse) Both are good but i think i would want Walker. I’m telling you, he will be a hot prospect this year.

Michael.S.Participantyeah if you dont think this question is legit , your crazy . Kemba Walker will impress a ton of people this year, and i dont get the thing about Flynn having more “star potential” probably a better scorer than Walker , but Walker can get up just as high and is a bit faster, and he is a pure pg

DoubleNickelsDurr55ParticipantI am a die hard UCONN fan but I think Flynn wins this debate. Watching Flynn take it to Uconn in the 7-OT’s and throughout his career at Syracuse was extremely impresive, especially because Uconn is so deep. The kid is 6 ft with shoes on it really will be interesting to see how well he plays in the NBA. His shot is nicer, he is more explosive, hardly ever disapears in a game, Boehiem trusted him and for a hall of fame coach to do that, thats saying alot. He is one of the many reason I hate syracuse. I wouldnt be surprised if both flynn and walker end up NBA back-up pg’s. Star potential? equal.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantExactly mikenike… I don’t think that Jonny is as a Pure PG, as I said earlier, but I think he is the type of guy who could potentially take over games in the 4th… I don’t see that with Kemba. That’s all I meant by star potential. I could see Jonny being THE GUY on a squad, but I see Kemba as more of a sidekick…

Michael.S.ParticipantBadger i wasnt singleing you out
and hahaha yes, i can see Flynn being the guy on a NBA squad and that’s why he is sort of a Combo guard, a true PG like Walker shouldnt be “the guy” on his team

JNixonParticipantJonny Flynn is sooo much better than Kemba Walker. Its not even close, it wasnt close last year and it will never be until Walker shows he has an offensive game that involves anything but outrunning his opponents (sometimes very out of control). He honestly cant shoot and isnt an NBA level playmaker. All he would be in the NBA is a defensive change of pace PG. I mean, Jonny Flynn has soooo much on him.

Meditated StatesParticipantIs going to increase his stock this year no doubt, but with that being said I go with Flynn for now. These two players are very close though, I would not sleep on Walker.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/11/2009 - 12:50pm #199319

Meditated StatesParticipantThat Flynn is the better player. Walker does brake down the D real well though. He will be a good point guard who creates for his team maybe more than Flynn. Flynn is the more explosive scorer yes. He played behind Price and did not get to show it much. He must work on his shooting I agree Iguodala9 his jumper needs a lot of improvment. Walker will be a lot better this year. I still go with Flynn.

MagikKnickParticipantWhen did Derrick Rose join this discussion?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/11/2009 - 1:23pm #199348
xbadgerhustlerParticipantI was wondering that myself, but Future GM said he’s the 5’10 version of DRose…

SupParticipantKemba is waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy faster the length of the floor. Cant shoot yet, but defense is crazy. Johnny ok, but made his whole career in a night against Uconn which he played hard but not spectacular. The answer is Kemba Walker, the fastest player in college last season and this upcoming.

M-DYMESParticipantJonny’s jumper is about as good as Rose’s, it certainly isn’t much better if at all. He is very good at penetrating but he can not finish like Rose. He is an amazingly athletic and acrobatic player but Rose is an athletic phenom. Rose is also much better at managing a game at this point in their respective careers. Its hard to compare the two though when Flynn is being brought into the triangle offense from the get go. Thats a tough job to be placed into especially when your team lacks the players necessary to run such a sophisticated system. What people should really like about him is his willingness to improve, his character, ball handling, and his athleticism. He’s just a great guy and a great team player. Give him a couple years and he will be a very solid player and locker room guy but won’t be anywhere near the player Rose will be.
Jonny Flynn is more like…
Damon Stoudemire
A very very raw version of AI
A shorter version of Jamal Crawford without his shooting ability0 - AuthorPosts
