Saw a lot of good and bad from this Summer League, but solid nonetheless

Good: His talent is undeniable, so smooth and can make things look really easy. A much better ball handler than I saw at Kansas and a confident one, was not afraid to bring the ball up. Jump shot really came along that last game, not much elevation but a very quick and smooth release – streaky but can get hot. He can be as good as he wants to be on defense, incredible length (also looks taller than what he measured out at, maybe it’s the length maybe it’s the Mohawk) and solid lateral quickness. Athleticism is apparent when taking it to the rack, long strides and effortless elevation, not the greatest body control though.

Bad: Has ways to go as a shot creator but that’s been his weakness for a while now. Gets lost defense way too much, simply due to a lack of focus. Can get tunnel vision way too often leading too wild attacks at the rim. Refuses to even attempt to finish with his right hand. 

Overall: I was impressed with his play. Especially after seeing every KU game last season I was convinced that he wasn’t close to being prepared for the league but he proved me wrong. Kelly has great potential to be a solid 3 and D player immediately for the Wizards. With his ball skills and feel for the game still developing, his best basketball is still ahead of him.

He blew away every Kansas performance he had. He played great, but I also noticed the effortless part… by the defense. The team gave him a lot of space and barely threw a hand up after he already made a bunch of 3’s. Come on defense.

I totally agree I had that same thought about Paul Pierce being a great mentor for him, Oubre potential trajectory is kind of an enigma of sorts..he can definitely be a very solid wing but he needs time to mature.. He reminds me a lot of Gerald Green in that sense, anyone who remembered Green in HS was floored by his potential.. But like Oubre lacked the basketball IQ in the beginning of his Career.. I think Oubre could pan out solid but its going to take a lot of trial and error for him due to the fact he’s limited in parts of his game

Man, I was ecstatic that the Hawks finally drafted a wing player with potential because something within their organization just doesn’t like drafting wing players. Imagine if he stayed with the Hawks, he would be put in Bud’s system and be given a lot of playing time with Carroll gone. Well with the Wizards at least he will be getting a lot of easy looks with Wall facilitating.

Regarding his performance, his jumper is just so smooth. Can shoot off the dribble and of screens with ease. He needs to work on his finishing though. I see him being just slightly better version of Nicolas Batum. Defensively is where he could be something special with his length and athletecism and I believe he is already further along as a player as when Batum first came in the league.

 On draft day, or the day before, a new workout video came out for Oubre and it was clear his ball handling had come a long way, improved even from his workout videos from a few weeks earlier.

I was hoping he would fall to the Celtics at 16, pretty passionately, even as I hope the Celtics could trade up for Myles Turner.

I’d rather have Oubre than Winslow, Russell, Booker, and others.

By the end of the college season Oubre was playing elite defense, and taking pride in it. He easily has among the most potential in this draft, as high as anybody.

Kelly Oubre is a perfect fit in Washington due to the fact that John Wall is a pass first point guard that makes everyone around him better, difinitely at the 3 point line. And he won’t be needed to contribute in his rookie season due to the fact they brought in Alan Anderson, Gary Neal, and Jared Dudley.

The two probably have the smoothest jump shots in this draft, and both have great length for SG.

Hunter appears to be turning into one hell of a consolation prize, as his BBIQ closes quite a bit of the gap with Oubre.

 I see him flourishing under the guidance of Wall, Beal, and Porter. Hes a great fit with Washington. Also watching him play NBA talent and speeds he looks so tall and long. Along with his athleticism and scoring ability he just seems like a perfect fit for the NBA style. He will be brought along slowly in Washington just like Porter was and he should become a good playyer.

 Outside of the top 7 players he was probably my favorite player in the draft. If the Wizards invest in his future, he has the potential to be a really good player.
