EspressoParticipantLet me start by saying that was rooting for OKC to win it all, with a hard passion!!!!!!
GSW used to be one of my favorite teams when they were 6th seed. I wrote several times that they were such a fun team to watch. Adding to that, I commented very early in the season Curry actually theats Lebron as the best player in the league.
However I started to dislike them this season becuase people went over board with this team, everyone jocking GSW, bunch of bandwagoners!!!!
So throughout the year and specially the playoffs I started rooting for OKC.
I have followed Durant entire career, AND I CAN TELL YOU RIGHT NOW HE SABOTAGED GAMES IN THE PLAYOFFS BY SHOOTING EVERYTIME HE TOUCHED THE BALL. WHY?? ASK CYNTHIA… HE WAS SCARED TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP WITH WESTBROOK PUTTING UP BETTER NUMBERS.
This is not lebron to Miami, Durant to GSW is blasphemy. It’s a joke. Wade and Lebron were best frieends and the Heat were nowhere near as good. Durant just joined the team that beat his a$$.
I am so mad at this move, that as a Heat fan and Wade’s #1 fan, I hope Wade leaves Miami just so he can help Lebron beat that BUM A$$ NI99A DURANT!!!!
I AM SO DISSPOINTED, DURANT WAS MY FAVORITE PLAYER AFTER WADE. NOW HE"S MY LEAST LIKED PLAYER.
HATE ALL YOU WANT YOU BUM BANDWAGONERS.
I NEVER WISH INJURY ON PLAYERS. NEVER. BUT I DONT EVEN CARE ANYMORE, MAYBE KARMA WILL GET ME… BUT I REALLY HOPE THROUGH INJURY OR NOT THAT KD NEVER WINS A RING.
BUMMM. HE HAD THE CHANCE TO BEAT GSW, BUT KD WAS SET ON OUTPLAYING WESTBROOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

joe2324ParticipantIt creates drama and this kind of drama brings in ratings. Now, Durant is the ultimate villian, even worse than Lebron. A Cavs and Warriors finals would be epic.

Toronto16ParticipantI’m not sure, I’ve really lost a lot of interest in the NBA now. Just seems very rigged, and the competitive nature is gone.

markfitz14ParticipantI have to say I will prbly watch less now. I will be routing for GS to lose but I will know they are the best team and will most likely win. Its just stupid by how far of a margin the best team they are. 2 of the top 3 players Durant and Curry. 3 of the around top 15 Green. Its july and the West has been decided barring injuries.

joe2324Participantso, its actually good for the league. They’re not guarantteed a championship. They may have horrible chemistry and it may blow up in their face.

CynthiaParticipantBe kind of funny if LeBron comes to OKC, won’t happen, but I’d giggle a little on the inside.

surveParticipantdont know about the Westbrook outshine theory, but I think it comes down to if you really paid attention, Westbrook is a fierce competitor and alpha dog. Durant isnt. he never was. I have felt for a long time that RWB was OKC’s mvp. look at how he carried the team when Durant was injured over the years. you take RWB away and OKC isnt that good but when you take Durant away, RWB has actually carried the team.
Durant is a passive guy for all of his talent. he defers to RWB for a reason. its this same reason that saw him leave OKC for GS. he doesnt really want to be THAT guy. maybe at first Lebron didnt either but it was forced on him. Durant wants to go and win and have it easy, there is no other way to put it. Was it tough for him in OKC with defenses focused on him? yeah. but OKC was really giving GSW the business. the fact that he left to go to the team that beat him is the worst part of this. if he goes anywhere else, no one cares really.
on one hand it really shows how little of an ego he has….on the other hand it shows that he definitely doesnt have the mentality or competitiveness to embrace an underdog role. he only wants rings and doesnt care how he gets them. and us as fans with the emphasis we put on winning are the most responsible for that mindset.

publius2481ParticipantI never understand why people getting upset when players choose to leave (unless it is your team, then I get you are upset because your team will not be as good). Most of us are not forced to work for a particular company, we can work for anyone who will hire us. Players are forced to work for a particular company for a time. When that time is up, they have every right to leave if they want.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantIf this was purely a basketball decision, it’s hard to argue with it. There is no doubt that gs gives him the best chance to win a championship right now out of all the teams he could’ve went to. From that perspective, it’s hard to criticize his decision.
However, I have to admit I was hoping he would stay in OKC. Not because I’m an okc fan or anything, but it would just mean so much more for him to bring a championship to the team that drafted him and he played his whole career for than to go to a ready made super team and win one. This creates drama and may be good for the league as far as ratings but I know I probably won’t be rooting for gs to win it all next year.
It will be interesting to see how this actually plays out on the floor. Who knows if they will have the same type of chemistry. They gave up several of their glue guys like bogut, Barnes, ezeli who were a big part of their identity. There have been super teams in the past that have failed to gel and meet expectations. They will no doubt be favorites heading into next season but I think it’s a little premature to just annoint them as champions now.

MachettiParticipantKD had me fooled! I really thought he was a genuine person. I didn’t mind him leaving but to join a stacked team and taking the easy way out to a championship the move is weak. He just proved that he’s not a leader and that he can’t carry a team on his back. This shows me he doesn’t care about what people think of him. Anyone who watches basketball will view a championship from Durant as cheap and a little tainted. We will all say oh but he went to Golden State to get his championship that’s what will first come to our minds. KD I’d rather you go to an Eastern Conference team and create your own legacy instead of riding on the coat tails of Steph Curry. Simply a sad day for basketball no point in watching the regular season Golden State vs Cleveland final again can’t wait sigh. OKC needs to trade Westbrook now because he’s gone after next year. Only way things could get interesting if someone like the Celtics could trade there assests for Westbrook jimmy butler or DeMarcus Cousins and form another super type team. I’m also for contraction let’s have less NBA team so we could have more competitive teams.

MopgrassParticipantHe needed to leave OKC. They had stagnated. They weren’t improving. I would have preferred the Celtics, Spurs, Heat, or some of the others. I know Cleveland are the rightful champs, but I still believe GS was the best team. They just wore down with their we-must-get-the-record-for-wins approach. They should have rested their guys near the end. That, and I think the Cavs got in Curry’s head. Still, I thought they’d win in a rematch.
Throwing Durant into that talent pool A) might not work chemistry-wise, and B) It’s giving the already-best team another top 3 in-the-league player. I’d like it if he went to a team that was a Durant away from being title contenders. The Spurs would have been great… a lot of teams. We just concentrated the talent in too small a pool. It also shows lack of belief in your own talent. I heard Magic Johnson say he wouldn’t have joined Larry Bird or Isaiah Thomas in a super team because he wanted to beat them.

HitsterParticipantThe fact that KD has moved on isn’t the issue, it’s that it’s seen he’s almost riding shotgun on an already successful team. Pau Gasol has gone to a 60 win team and everyone thinks it’s a great move, if Gasol had gone to GSW likewise we’d have said great move for both.
My fun idea is with KD having this 2 year deal, 2nd year player option, he’s almost just looking to get his title and then perhaps moving onto a real challenge, could he do an LBJ and go back home to OKC in a couple of years.
Also LBJ and the Cavs have gone from being the butt of jokes for coming up short, chasing titles to being a team the neutrals want to beat GSW.
