HobbyOGParticipantnba.nbcsports.com/2018/04/19/rumor-lakers-kawhi-leonard-share-mutual-interest/
If your the Lakers do you trade for him or wait until next season when he’s a FA. I think they trade for him, they tried this last off-season with PG and he’ll prob stay with OK, so I think they go after him and try to beg Bron to come to LA with him..Thoughts?

220ParticipantI’m sure the Lakers will inquire, but I don’t see it happening.

Miko4rm206ParticipantIf they get LeBron during free agency I would absolutely make a trade for kawhi. My home boy went to middle school with him in Moreno Valley about a Hour from LA. Soo Funny seeing him in the yearbook his Braids never grew since middle school lol.
If kahwi really wants out and LA gets LeBron as well I can see Brandon Ingram and Sign and trade with Julius Randle and I.T along with a future pick would be a pretty solid haul for leonard

cohenbc1ParticipantI don’t know if I would give up that much for a player who either 1) has a really weird injury that’s not responding to treatment or 2) quit on his team.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThe lakers would have to give up a lot to get Leonard, with no guarantee that he would resign next offseason. Any offer the spurs would consider would undoubtedly have to include Ingram as well as either kuzma or a future first just as a starting point. Who knows if Leonard will be fully recovered for next season or if he will fully regain his pre-injury form? That’s a pretty big gamble to take.
On the other hand, landing a marquee player like Leonard would probably make the lakers a much more appealing destination for lebron as well as other free agents. I’ve said all along that for lebron to consider the lakers, he’s going to need at least one other marquee player to come with him. All along i assumed that player would likely be George but if Leonard is available that could open up another option.
I’d say it’s unlikely leonard winds up with lakers this summer but wouldn’t call it completely out of the realm of possibility. If he’s available I’m sure they will at least inquiry, if they haven’t already.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantAs the 3 players the spurs would be interested in are off limits:
Ingram,Ball and Kuz.. Which leaves very little for the Lakers to trade that would make legit sense to the spurs..Even if they were open to moving Kuz and Randle I don’t see it being enough to get the spurs to bite, when a team like Phoenix could offer way more(Booker would be the only untouchable and maybe one of the pick or Jackson)..

SmooveKRYPTParticipantThere’s no such thing as untouchable on a 35 win team unless the player is a borderline all-star (Booker for ex) for a player of Kawhi’s caliber, these guys can and will absolutely be discussed. I see Ingram being the guy the Spurs would want to build a package around if they wanted to do business with the Lakers.

BeastMode716ParticipantBut we’d have to Gut the team of at least 2 of our Young core players b/c we do not have our Lottery pick
And if we do that Why would Kawhi sign an Extension?
I just feel like a team like Boston or Phila can offer way more but still have a Monster Core of Talent remaining

That being said, if there is a chance Kawhi would sign an extension I’d give up Whatever we have to in order to get a player of this caliber
We are talking about a 26 y/o MVP candidate / DPOY candidate Every year for the next 6 or 7 seasons

Ahkasi ClayParticipantI would love for the Lakers to give up assets. Then have him Dwight Howard them.

HitsterParticipantWith rumours that Kawhi wants out, teams will come sniffing but with his contract running down do they go all in and offer up a big package with the knowledge they may be able to get him via FA next summer or another team could snap him up.
With his contract running down and his injury issues – his trade value will be lower but the Spurs would never give up a key asset cheaply. The Lakers could send future first rounders but Spurs would likely want Ingram. With Ball I wonder if Spurs would want any part of the LaVar Ball circus or I’m sure Popps and Burford would keep him well away from the team.
Philly have cap space so may well look at FAs but if nothing came off they may go back in for Kawhi.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantTrade Ingram for Kawhi straight up. Compares to the PG for oladipo deal.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantThe Lakers haven’t signed or traded for anyone with Real value in close to A decade(Gasol was the last fleeced Deal they made) They’ve actually been hosed in the trades they’ve made since the Gasol heist (IDC what Marc became, he was a fat unproven prospect at the time of the trade, he made himself a great player, he wouldn’t have been able to do so in the Lakers system)
Every trade they’ve made since then has blown up in their face or been flat out bad(Nash, Howard, The MCW draft pick swap with Phoenix)
They’ve even whiffed in Free Agency, signing Loul Deng and Timofey Mosgov for example, the only good Move they made was for Lou Williams who bolted as soon as he could
Where they’ve been modestly successful they want to abandon and trade away, the Draft Picks like Clarkson, Nance, Kuzmaand Hart, toss in Randle who they’ll lose this summer and Ingram who they’ll trade for any Star willing to join the ShitShow
The only player I haven’t heard being bought in a trade scenario is the one Kid I’d want to jettison out of my Franchise ASAP, that’s Lonzo Ball, who shouldn’t have any trade value because of the Circus he comes with, not to mention he ain’t that good to begin with…
The Lakers are all of a sudden going to turn all these bad deals and missteps to collect the assets they need to make ANY deal for Kahwi and/or Paul George before attempting to lure LeBron James, who’ll need to guarantee that he wins 50 plus games in the Regular season and a legit shot at winning 3 more rings, the Lakers can’t promise him that with the Roster they have, and gutting the team for Leonard, who could be hurt is not a guarantee, look at the other teams around the league and ask yourself this…
What’s special about the Lakers besides their rich history of Stealing Picks and Players during a long period between the late 60’s to mid 2000’s…A run that’s ended pretty abruptly and without a return to form, meaning the other GMs around the league making The Lakers better in spite of what it does to them in the long run…
Popovich will not make a deal with LA knowing it makes his team worst while propping up an enemy the likes of The Lakers…Sorry not Sorry, it’s not happening

weballin.netParticipantinstant leadership to the Lakers. He fits well with Ball and Kuzma, two players the lakers should try to keep. Every other player could be part of the package like Ingram of course, but also Randle or Zubac. Only thing is that the Lakers have to be sure about Leonard’s health.
