Really bad for the league when a top 3 player is being petulant child deciding to sit out an entire season because he got his feelings hurt by the spurs and some of his teammates. The league is basically powerless and he’ll most likely get his way and then move on to the lakers next year. 

between this mess and cousins signing with the warriors, i don’t see how this is good for the league.

 I really doubt he’ll sit out. His camp is just using it as a threat to give the lakers more leverage in a trade. But I doubt San Antonio is going to fall for it. And there is really no urgency for LA to trade for him unless they get a deal to their liking now that lebron is committed for at least 3 years.

 believe there is a clause in the collective bargaining agreement that basically says if Leonard would do this he would forfeit his right to become a free agent.

Wow never heard of this before but makes sense if someone is cleared to play and doesn’t, he won’t become a free agent. But does this mean next seasons salary is also the number which carries over to the season after or how does it work? Don’t really see another scenario but do the Spurs have to actually pay him or what is the caphold in this case? 

Cause if the team has to player the player could just extend this for a while and cashing in every year without playing at all. 

If he really boycotts playing cause he is a sissy this is clearly a red flag for any other team who might sign him or trade for him. What a sissy this guy is man. There have to either be incredible stupid people in his ear all day long telling him what to to or maybe he totally lost his passion for the game. We all know he is the quiet guy but what if there is a Bynum/Larry Sanders situation here? I know both had different reasons to quit on basketball but both also lost their desire and passion which is shocking given the success they had but also human and not everyone is made for this circus. Who knows but the fact that the absolute most respected franchise, front office and coach is being treated like if they are total amateurs makes me really believe there is something beyond the wish tonplay for the Lakers in an even bigger circus in LA.

 Hmmm… so he cant sit out more than 30 days after the start of the season, or else he doesn’t become a free agent unless San Antonio says he can. I would love to see this play out but I cant see it happening. I wonder if injuries change this? We could have another example of Leonard saying he’s hurt and the Spurs saying he’s not. What if he waits 20 days, comes back, then sits out again? Interesting. I think he goes to philly for not a ton, hope he stays there long term too.

No way he sits out and foregoes 20M but he might claim to still be injured. Injured players get paid, players who refuse to play don’t. But if he did that who would want such a player?

 It’s hard to believe LeBron would want a guy like that as a teammate, but maybe I’m wrong. 

LeBron kind of ushered in the age of "Power to the Players," so maybe those old-fashioned notions about winning being the only thing are just dead and gone.

 I cant see Pop allowing the culture in San Antonio to become toxic. He spent 20 years building it and would like to keep it positive so he’ll get him moved, no doubt. The suitors are limited.. Who takes him for a year? 

 

 

Philly – i think theyre out now they have Redick and Wilson Chandler. I like those pickups by the way. They could potentially roll out a lineup with Ben and Chandler in the back court, Cov, Saric and Embiid. Thats enormous. 

New York – They should offer Frank and Kanter. Its probably as good as anything now with Kawhis value diving by the minute.

OKC – take the one year gamble again, it worked for PG. Even better if you can get Kawhi for Melo..! 

Boston – too many assets to not try, they are going to end up in the ECF at minimum. Kawhi might push them over. 

Blazers – CJ McCullom and contracts?

Wolves – for Butler

Bucks – id just like to see him play with Khris and 34

Clips – The Clips should go heavy, they know its where he wants to be. SGA, Bradley, Kawhi and Beverley would give them very strong perimeter defence.

 If Kawhi did sit out the Spurs could obviously withhold his salary and in most scenarios he’d be sacked. But that would effectively make him a free agent which is what he’d want. 

If he did sit out the year and expected to become a FA and the Spurs refused to grant this they could really screw him over. Imagine someone like Gregg Popovich who came from a military background and is probably an old school type guy who thinks respect both ways is important. Kawhi sat for a year then thought he could skip off to Lakers then Gregg might think "lets teach him a lesson" and refuse to grant his release. Gregg could really screw Kawhi over if he held tight even until 2019 FA season was over, the Lakers wouldn’t risk waiting to fill cap space if Pops was playing hard ball – LBJ would be going on 35 then and would want best win now guys around him ASAP.
