gabriel_akvaParticipantFor the second straight year, Kawhi Leonard is the NBA Defensive Player Of the Year. Great effort from one of the most all-around players in the league.
Did Kawhi deserved it? Whiteside? For me Kawhi is the right choice.

NBAjunkie81Participanthe Never takes even a play off…… Look around the League at some of the other Super Stars & they barely play any Defense at all…..
This kid is a True Alpha…… Talking means nothing…… Defense is about Pride & Drawing a line in the sand & letting the other guy know I’m gonna kick your @ss All night long……..
Teamates Follow that kind of Leadership…….. Playing Ferocious Defense is a Mind Set……. I luv that this kid is a Quiet Assasin ……

The Spurs led the league in defensive rating and points allowed.. and Leonard usually drew the toughest defensive assignment night in, night out. So I think he was the deserving winner.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantWhiteside racked up blocks but Miami weren’t much better with him on the floor defensively- for a stretch at the start of the season they were actually worse with him on the floor defensively. The only other guy I’d put in the same breath as Kawhi this season is Draymond, but I think Kawhi is certainly deserving.

I actually thought he was a lock to get it too due to the 73 win season, they should have been rewarded MVP and DPOY imo

HitsterParticipantKawhi probably deserved it more this year than last year. Draymond would have been a sound choice also given the great work he does for GSW. I wonder if Draymond might be up for MIP award this year given his crazy stats across the board and what he contributed to the 73-9 season.
It still amuses me how far Kawhi fell down the draft when he was considered a top 6 pick on most mocks also the Pacers who have a knack of getting good players in the mid first round area were mugged off by the Spurs in hindsight.
