he_gets_bucketsParticipantKansas vs OU thread
I think I’m going to tear my hair out with Dicky V and Musburger commentating… its like Christmas dinner when your creepy older uncle won’t stop talking its just awful. I can bare Dicky V when he’s got another guy alongside him but the combination of these two is dreadful

Chilbert arenasParticipantI haven’t heard a word they’ve said so far, the play on the court has taken my full attention so far. This is the first time I’ve really watche Hield and he’s living up to it so far.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI like that Perry Ellis has come out aggressive- but thats always been his problem, his inconsistency with effort. Some games he looks like a lottery pick other games he looks like a bench warmer in Europe.

Chilbert arenasParticipantAt half Hield has 22 of OUs 44 points at half. If you arent watching it I strongly suggest finding a way to watch the second half

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThere is no way hield is not a top 10 pick. He might be the best all-around guard in the draft. Hes such as versatile scorer and his all-around game has improved so much.

DukeDaSquadParticipantThat foul call on Buddy Hield’s shot at the end of the regulation was a really bad call in my opinion, plus the over the back call with a couple of seconds to go

SubZeroParticipantIf anything, people know me as a Kentucky fan, but I was born in Oklahoma and I randomly decided to like them when I was about 10 and Adrian Peterson was there, so I like them too. As such, a game like that is devastating but at the same time, I’m glad I got to witness it. Watched every minute and while the refs did have a few bad calls, it went both ways. I almost want to vote OU #1 because they very easily could’ve beaten Kansas who has a top 3 home court advantage in basketball (I.e. if Lattin hit his free throw at the end of regulation/if Isaiah Cousins didn’t throw the game away by sucking). I think OU will win when they play in Norman, but there’s no doubt these are 2 great teams. Kansas doesn’t really have a star but plenty of solid guys that fit well, while Oklahoma wins and loses with Buddy (and to a lesser extent, Spangler, Woodard, and Cousins)

TWILL123ParticipantThere were some dreadful calls that did not go KU’s way in that game, and you virtually never see that in Allen Fieldhouse. As great as Hield was playing, I cannot believe he didn’t get up more shots than he did. There were times in that game that I thought Cousins and Mason were having a contest on who could be the worst player on the floor, and then out of nowhere Mason wins the game for KU in the 3rd OT. It was fantastic to watch, and I simply can not fathom another game coming close to that again this year.

TWILL123ParticipantOne thing that really did bother me was that Buddy Hield stayed out after the loss to talk to SVP on sportscenter. Think that really sent a bad message that it’s more about him than the team. No player on a losing team should ever stay out of the locker room after a crushing loss like that just to be on national TV. That really rubbed me the wrong way.

OnionsParticipantI thought KU should have been called for hounding Buddy on that inbounds. You got to give space to the inbounder and Mason (was it?) essentially tipped the ball before it even cross the line. Crazy stuff. Fun game, though. Buddy is some kind of shooter.
To KU fans: what’s with Diallo?

BigChamp12ParticipantI thought I was the only one that saw that… The inbounder is supposed to be allowed more space than that. Ref should’ve stepped in and moved Mason back a foot or 2.

BleedGreen808ParticipantMason got asked about it in the postgame press conference and he said the ref told him to give him space before the ball was handed to Hield. He also said once Hield got the ball he took another step forward because essentially "the ref couldn’t do anything about it".

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantOne of several bad calls in the game. Mason got smacked in the head when he drove to the basket at the end of regulation. There were several questionable calls that went in hield’s favor as well.
I did notice hield has a tendency to just kick the ball out wildly in the direction of where he thinks a teammate might be when he drives and his penetration is cut off. He needs to work on being more under control when he drives and coming to a jump stop rather than just flinging blind passes across his body.

BiggysmallsParticipant@TWILL — taking a tad too serious I’d say. The dude is a great ambassador for college basketball and if anything, made that whole thing great with his personaity and grace in defeat. The Kansas crowd gave him an ovation for the game and rarely do you see a player interview after a loss. I thought it was fine. I know we want guys to be crushed and destroyed after a loss, but this Oklahoma team will be back. Their season wasn’t defined tonight…no big deal to do an interview.
I love that most of the best teams in the country are upperclassmen driven teams. Oklahoma, UNC, Kansas, Michigan State, Maryland, Purdue, Villanova, Xavier, Virginia, the list goes on. There aren’t a ton of teams dominated by freshman, which I think makes the product of college basketball better. Teams with guys who know how to play the game is so much better than watching a bunch of uber-athletic freshmen run around and just out-AAU the opposition.
From this game’s perspective, both teams are legit. Both should at least be playing on the second weekend barring crazy big upsets.
I had to do a double-take when I looked at his stats because they are actually very good, but I don’t think there is a player in the country I dislike watching more than Frank Mason. His shot selection every time I watch him is atrocious, he makes bad decisions – which sometimes work out – and he just seems to lack control that I’d want from my point guard. He plays tough defense, which I can see as a reason people like him but I just can’t stand him. I was really surprised he’s got a high FG percentage and his assist/turnover ratio is actually really good—like 3 to 1 iirc.

TWILL123ParticipantYeah that’s understandable. All I’m saying is that if someone on my favorite team stayed out of the locker room to talk to the national media after a triple OT loss, I would be pretty upset. Wasn’t high on Hield coming into the year, but man did he prove me wrong. Kid is ridiculous.

Big_C_KUParticipantYet us KU fans love him. He’s our most consistent player. And is actually pretty efficient. Averages 13, 4, and 5 on 44% shooting. Has an almost 4 to 1 Ast:TO ratio. I’m fine with that at PG.

0- Posted on: Tue, 01/05/2016 - 11:42am #1035288

SteezGawdParticipanthe’s a great scorer, might be the best at that. I watched the game, even thought OKC would win the game (thank god I didn’t gamble on this one) but soon as Jordan fouled out I knew it was over, that they’d lose even though I hoped they wouldn’t. He just seemed to make key plays when Buddy wasn’t.
Also the reason he’s compared to Jodie Meeks is cos Jodie is also 6’4 a shooter who was a big scorer at UK (just like buddy, I remember he even dropped 40 + once) and once they hit the league would probably be relegated to a similar role as JM.
