SwatLakeCityParticipantDid anybody catch this game? I caught only a couple minutes, but I heard it was a sick game. Final score. Kansas 81, Kstate 79. I watched the game for Cole Aldrich, and I was very impressed. I saw him move around, get a few blocks, basically he was a beast. 18pts, 11 boards and 3 blocks!!!! Now, that is what I am asking for. The only fear is that if the Jazz draft him, I hope he doesn’t end up like Greg Ostertag, same college, white. He had better not be lazy like Ostertag was. But after seeing this game, it looks laziness is not a quality he possess!!! What did you guys think?

JoeWolf1He is not much like Ostertag( except the crew cut, honestly, who has a crew cut anymore!? lol), he has worked hard in college and really likes being challenged by his coaches. How much he improved from his freshman to sophomore seasons should be an indicator of his work ethic and although this season’s numbers are down he has improved his shot blocking and outlet passing significantly. I think he will be a solid NBA starter and work ethic is one thing you won’t have to worry about with this guy.

JNixonParticipantI thought we had that game….Wally Judge just fouled Collins at the wrong time and Colins made the shot. And then they gave up the rebound after his missed free throw, which squandered all hope..:
Aldrich looks like a defensive menace in the NBA. He’ll be a good player because with all the ability and tools he has on D, he has some moves down low that are unstoppable because of the high points he releases them at. He’s somewhere between Brendan Haywood and Joel Pryzbilia.
Sherron Collins stepped up whenever KU needed a basket. That was true leadership. He has some nice handles and can make shots after crossovers very well. He also has a nice jumper with NBA range. Could be a nice backup in the NBA.
Tyshawn Taylor was soooooo overhyped this summer. He’s nothing more than a solid college guard who can defend and is a pretty good athlete. He isn’t that smart and he isn’t a true PG, which he’ll have to be at his size.
Marcus Morris is the talented twin, Markieff is not very good at all. Marcus has alot of matchup problem potential, because he can face the basket or post almost as effectively
Morningstar is kinda horrible. If K-State would’ve won, it would’ve been his fault. He can’t handle the ball but he did make free throws and 3-point shots.
Kansas State:
Jamar Samuels is a good player for K-State. Possible prospect in 2012 or so. He has alot of Thaddeus Young in him.
Jacob Pullen stepped up, and even though he didn’t shoot 3’s well statistically, he made every shot that K-State needed to bring momentum.
Denis Clemente needs to figure out what shots to take and how to dictate pace better.. He can get hot but he’s doesn’t seem to have a high basketball IQ.
Curtis Kelly will be a nice prospect in 2011. He needs to work on his handle alot more to face-up as much as he tries to, but he has a soft touch and nice quickness. That sky hook he made was breath-taking.
Wally Judge played BY FAR his best game of the season. Wow. He rebounded well, defended without fouling as much as possible (except on that Collins shot…smh), and made some good shots from 18 feet on in. He has to get smarter though, as he still is more foul prone than the average player.

JoeWolf1I agree with you about Taylor, he has taken a step backwards this season. He makes poor decisions and will be a mid to late 2nd round pick if he goes pro after this season. He needs an attitude adjustment, he has gotten in fights with the football team, complained about playing time via facebook and although he still has the “potential” to be a good NBA guard he has taken a step back this season.
Wally Judge did have the best game of his season. I didn’t realize he was as raw as he was coming in the season, I was expecting more of this kind of play from him all season. He is a big guy with serious pro potential, but you are right, he needs to learn the game and is probably a 2012 guy in my opinion.
I disagree with Morningstar being kinda-horrible. He isn’t an NBA player, but I could see him being successful over seas. He didn’t have the best game vs K-State, but he is normally very efficient, rarely takes ill advised shots and plays great perimeter defense.
Pullen is a big shot guy like Collins in my opinion, I think he could improve his stock like Collins did this year and maybe be an early 2nd round pick in 2011. He could be a solid NBA backup. But if he decides to ride K-State’s success this year and leave, I think he has a chance to be an early 2nd round pick because of the lack of quality point guards in this draft.
Marcus Morris, although not as dramatic statistically, has improved so much this season. He has been tearing it up during conference play( off the top of my head probably about 17ppg and 8rpg ) and has emerged as an extremely consistent player and a mid to late first round pick in 2011.

JNixonParticipantXavier Henry was poor yesterday too, if you pressure himk he shows poor handles. But he can make the occasional shot off penetration because he’s long and has nice touch. He needs to step up, and he needs to fast.

JoeWolf1Yeah, I think Bill Self was trying to send him a message by keeping him on the bench. He has been way off offensively the past month or so, I honestly thought he would be out of this slump by now, but you are right he is way to content popping 3’s and not trying to penetrate at all. Because KU is a stacked team that has late season run potential, It’s not too late for him to turn it on and get his stock back up, but you’re right he needs to do it pretty quick, a good game vs Texas next Monday would be very beneficial for him.
