OhCanada-ParticipantSo Nurkic had an insane 20 point 20 rebound 8 assist 2 steal and 6 block game in an overtime victory last night. I only saw tail end of the game (4th qaurter and OT) but Portland ran the offence through him. Im not sure if this was to take advantage of the Okafor matchup or not but they looked very good at times doing it. He kind of gives them a Baby Cousins type player at C.
Nurkic is very underrated and I think he is right there with Jokic as far as skill and abillity. In the game against Toronto he had three teeth knocked out and didnt come out of the game. Seems to be a good kid with a winning personality.
How good can Jusuf Nurkic be? Can he surpass Jokic? How good can Portland be with him here?

r377ParticipantI have always liked him, I was really surprised more teams didn’t go for him.
I thought New Orleans or Milwaukee would of been good for him to be a starter

jabbar_medvedenkoParticipantYeah, it was a real head scratcher of a deal for me considering the Nuggets gave up a better, younger, cheaper player with All-Star potential AND a better pick. I know that him and Jokic down the line can’t coexist because both are plodding centers but you still don’t give up on that kind of talent that easily.
It seems to me that there have been some serious misjudgements on his potential because most people I’ve seen write about him in the past couple of months said that his passing is a glaring weakness and it turns out he might just be as good of a passer that Jokic is in the end, just to name one aspect of his game.
I don’t know if he’ll be a better player than Jokic down the road, but he’s still one of the best young centers in the game along with the likes of Embiid, Towns, Zubac, Noel and Okafor, which is even more important because there just doesn’t seem like there’s many of those types in the upcoming draft which is heavily perimeter-oriented. A real coup for the Blazers.

Dell87ParticipantAlso he is bigger than jokic. 280 lbs compared to 250 for jokic. In saying that , I believe he may become more durable and stay healthier. He is a natural banger anyway. I am really surprised that more teams didn’t try to get him.( Or maybe they did). I would’ve liked to see Boston make a play for him. Maybe send Rozier and a second round pick for him

BallerScriptParticipantRozier and a second round pick for Nurkic?

Dell87ParticipantWhy not? At least with Rozier you get a young inexpensive player that’s under your control for the next few years and is also a back up plan in case they decide to move on from mudiay. Plumlee is a free agent after this year. And I dont think his addition makes Denver a playoff team anyway. Would’ve made more sense to get a younger cheaper player with more upside that might fill a future need

Dell87ParticipantDenver got plumlee and a second round pick. They gave up nurkic and a 1st round pick. IMO they could’ve gotten a much better deal for a 7 ft 280 lb 24 year old center that had shown flashes last year.

OhCanada-ParticipantSaric also had a career night. A bit of Bosnian/Croatian beef last night. They played like the wimner took over Yugoslav.

SlickBouncePassParticipantIn today’s times we can’t let silly geographical differences define us, especially in sports. 102,000 people died in that war, tens of thousands of which were civilians.
I get playing up the rivalry, but this one to me since it involved a genocide doesn’t sit well with me.

Mr. 19134ParticipantGeographical differences are exactly and what have exactly always defined us.

tblazer_NZParticipantThis trade has really worked well for Portland. Mason is going to get paid this of season while Nurkic will be cheap for one more year and we get a 1st round pick
