TONYDABOSS77ParticipantA few things I’ve been thinking about & saw that I wanted to get tha site’s opinion on:
-I saw Bill Simmons ask Chad Ford if Marquese Chriss went to Duke & Ingram went to Washington, who would be tha number 2 pick?? Ford said it would be close, but he thinks it would be Chriss & tha more I think of it, he’s right. I like Ingram’s skillset & size, but Chriss has a similar skillset. He’s also 6’10 & also 18. He’s sooooo explosive. He reminds me a lot of Josh Smith when he was drafted, but he has a nice jumpshot. Remember, Smith was one of tha most versatile players & best athletes in tha league when he was with ATL. He even averaged 3 blocks one year. He was a real game changer. I see tha same traits in Josh Smith…I’m intrigued by him. I wouldn’t be shocked if he was took top 4. If people are patient, he’s going to be an all star.-I also saw Bill Simmons ask why wouldn’t Philly just keep their bigs & trade their pick to Boston for 3, 16, 23, 31 & 35? If you slide down to 3, I think Murray fits better with tha current team, but Philly may not want to pass on tha talent of Ben Simmons.
-They better not let Murray get to PHX. It will get ugly if he & Booker are in tha same backcourt. Two big guards that can both handle it & score at all 3 levels. They could be scary together. PHX could just flip Bledsoe & Knight for more pieces. Just a thought.
-2017 class looks LOADED. I’m most impressed with Jackson & Tatum from a combination of their size/athleticism/skill. Josh Jackson facilates for his team & splits pick & roll like a PG at 6’8. He’s so athletic, but I’m more impressed with his skill. He has great touch. I didn’t see Wiggins do all of this in high school. He looked great in tha McDonald’s game, but he didn’t exactly stand out at tha Hoop Summit. He reminds me of a young T-Mac when he was in Toronto…you see all of tha tools, but he still needs to keep sharpening his game. I’m not worried about him being 19 already. Embiid was 20 when he was drafted & we all loved him. WHY? Because of tha crazy skillset & athleticism at his size. Well, this kid is 6’8 with a handle & he can dunk it however you want him to dunk it, he defends 1-3, he has great touch around tha rim, he has really good court vision & he plays MEAN. I love his game. Tatum is sooo skilled. If you like Ingram, you’ll love this kid. Tatum’s 6’9 with very impressive ball skills, his skillset is crazy. He’s still learning how to use that size. He can finish with both hands, he can post up & score, his midrange is great & he’s extending his range. He looks like Steve Smith, a big versatile scoring guard. He’s a 2/3 that can handle it. These kids’ floor games are crazy. Then, of course, there’s Fox, Smith, Simmons, Ball, Isaac, Giles, etc. It’s getting real…

Magic JordanParticipantChriss and Ingram seem like two different players. Chriss doesn’t have anywhere close to the ball skills that Ingram has. I don’t see how there is anyway that he can create for himself at the next level at least for a few years.
This Chriss hype seems to be getting kind of ridiculous. Workout warrior.

SubZeroParticipantPhilly should absolutely not trade their pick. They’ve gone through years of The Process for this exact moment, and now everyone wants them to trade it. Simmons will be better than anyone they have on their team, you build around him, not the other way around.
As a Kentucky fan, I’d love to see Phoenix turn every game into a UK alumni game. That would be a crazy shooting duo probably only bested by Golden State, but I’d rather see Jamal go to Minny and Phoenix get Bender/Brown

OhCanada-ParticipantThe fact is there’s a reason why Duke recruited Ingram and not Chriss. Ingram showed more promise and Duke (a top tier recruiting team) chose him because they believed he gave them a better chance of winning. Plain and simple.
Say what you want about Romar and Washington but the players they recruit generally find success in the NBA. Although it’s more likely that Chriss would be stuck on the bench in Duke until his intangibles improved. So no I disagree. I think it would have hurt his stock while if Ingram was at Washington he would likely be in the exact same position being allowed to run free in Washington next to Murray.
The Josh Smith comparison is only good because Chriss and Smith are both elite athletes with great builds that have skills you can’t find in normal players but also weaknesses that normal players would be benched and at times exiled from the league for. It’s a mixed bag but drafting Chriss 3rd is one of the riskiest picks in draft history and despite the warranted hype that’s why it won’t happen. Murray, Dunn, and Hield are NBA contributors with star talent. Chriss could be but it will come along with a ton of bad habits that will need to be fixed.
I like him in the late lotto but there’s better prospects IMO.

Al PerezParticipantpersonally I think it’s………Tatum > Jackson….and Kansas is my favorite team and I dislike Duke to say the least……also Wiggins is a better talent. If you wanna say he was more unrefined at same age I guess but Wiggins covers so much ground so quickly with such little effort, his ability to score is unquestioned and he’s just tapping into his immense potential…..Wiggins > Tatum > Ingram> Jackson…..probably get negged for that oh well lol….
