gatorheelsParticipantThe Cavs sign Anthony Parker & Varejao.
Varejao got a 6 year deal worth $50million….the Cavs got screwed. I’m sorry but I wouldve given him a 6 year deal worth $30million. He is not that great of a PF. I mean they could have gotten Milsap or Lee for that kind of money. Anthony Parker is a pretty good pickup but he still isn’t the big wing defender that the Cavs needed.
Rumor has that the Cavs could trade Wally & JJ Hickson to the Bobcats for Gerald Wallace. Cleveland should do this ASAP haha. Cleveland would lose a lot of money though for the 2010 free agent market but who cares. With Gerald they would be the favorites to win it all IMO.Looks like the Pacers are probably going to sign Jarrett Jack & Josh McRoberts. They are also interested in Rodney Carney. Not sure why, I don’t see Carney helping them out much at all.
Brandon Bass apparently is now going to choose between Detroit, Portland, & Orlando. Portland is apparently pursuing Milsap also. Chances are Milsap goes to Portland & Bass goes to Orlando…that is my best guess right now. It seems Detroit would be the odd team out but they will reportedly shift their focus towards Glen Davis. The Hornets want Big Baby too but they would have to do a sign&trade deal to get him. I would love to see Big Baby go back to Louisiana…seems like a perfect fit. Hornets need a power forward bad..they are also looking at Drew Gooden.
Wow…Andre Miller wants a 3 year deal worth $30mil. The 76ers aren’t going to pay that neither is any other team. However, it looks like all of a sudden Miller could really find a new team. Philly is desperately looking for a sign&trade.
The Knicks have offered Grant Hill a 1 year deal worth 5 million. Once again this seems like a stupid move by the Knicks. Why does New York keep going after old veterans. I think they need to go after young talent like Sessions, Big Baby, etc..
The Knicks have also told Grant Hill that he would start at SF while Chandler would move to SG.Looks like the Bulls will sign Jannero Pargo in the next few days. If they think he can replace Gordon then they are trippin.
The Hawks have resigned Zaza. Atlanta is going to have some problems I think. They have Bibby, Teague, Crawford, Flip, Joe Johnson…playing time is going to be hard to divide. I think they will have bad chemistry.
Josh Childress wants to return to the NBA. The Bucks have high interest and have already meet with him. Seems like a good move by Milwaukee.
The Rockets are looking for a Center but they can’t afford one. Look for a trade to occur sometime in the future. Maybe they decide to trade McGrady for Dalembert after-all. It seems like they could probably workout a trade for Tyson Chandler as well.
The Nuggets are not even close to being finished yet in free agency. Birdman has been resigned but look for Denver to add a couple more key pieces before its over. They still need a little help in the post and some depth at SG now that Dahntay is gone.
Iverson to Miami or Memphis? Really seems pointless for either team to sign him IMO. I think a contender should pickup Iverson..he is still a good scorer and has experience. I am kinda surprised a team like Boston or Dallas hasn’t made a move for him yet.
The Nets all of a sudden look to be a very smart team…I admit I thought trading Carter & Ryan Anderson was stupid at the time but it is starting to make a lot of sense. More than likely New Jersey will stink this year and will end up with a top 5 pick in the 2010 draft. They should get a very high quality player there. Not to mention they haven’t spent any money this offseason which is kinda strange considering they need help. They are saving all their money for the big 2010 free agent market where they should be able to add a lot of talent. Add that 2010 draft pick & a couple free agents from the 2010 market to the Nets young core of Harris, Lopez, Lee, CDR, TWill, Yi, & Sean Williams and all of a sudden New Jersey looks awful dangerous.
I’m looking forward to seeing who Miami adds this offseason. They better give Wade some help. Beasley should definitely move to SF. It seems Miami needs an upgrade at PF. Beverlywill be a reliable backup PG.
The TWolves remain very quiet. No doubt about it they are headed for a top 5 pick again in the 2010 draft. I guess that what they want ha.

varejao signed 6 years. i’m not sure if parker already signed with them. i think they’re close though. bulls have reached an agreement with pargo. i think he’s first pg off the bench.

Michael.S.ParticipantIMO Varejao at most is worth the MLE, and Gerald Wallace would help the cavs a ton but the Cavs would have to make their lineup somethin like this
Mo Williams
Gerald Wallace
Lebron
ANderson Varejao
Shaq
this is a great lineup but they only got 1 shooter to spread the floor, but a few that
can on the benchthen u got Big z on the bench along with Delonte, Wally, Boobie Gibson, and Pavlovic, and Hickson

deshawynkeys91ParticipantGatorheel… no mention of the raptors haha
but seriously after going back and forth yesterday and to find out today that the raptors have pulled off a four way deal that has landed them not only h. turkoglu but also some bench depth in players like d. george, a. wright and more importantly gain back their mid level….. like i said yesterday there is something to be sad about having a good gm heading your franchise

Tha King2121ParticipantBut whats up with Andre Miller………… I have heard absolutly nothing.
Anyone no?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 4:23am #179048

gatorheelsParticipantThose bench players are scrubs though ha. I heard they gained back their mid-level…can they use that this year or is that for next year? I didn’t know, either way that was a good move by Toronto.
The 76ers have offered him a 2 year deal worth 16 million but Miller doesn’t want to accept that. Both sides aren’t making any progress.

ckowalskiParticipantVarejao’s deal is only worth $42.5 million according to ESPN for 6 years. The $50 million is reached on performance incentives. It doesnt seem as bad as it did at first but I still think $7 million a year base salary is a little high for him.

deshawynkeys91ParticipantYou know what… ur RIGHT those players are scrubs and i’d have to take ur word for it b/c as a knicks backer u must know a scrub when u see one but the big difference is that these players are on the raptors bench as suppose to starting.
and yes the mid level they got back is for this year and will more than likely use most of it on resign c. delfino who is another respectable piece off the bench.

Knicksboy34ParticipantI dont understand why everyone think the Nets will be terrible this year. I think they will be a 30-37 win team this year..
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 4:58am #179053

gatorheelsParticipantI do know a scrub when I see one. Delfino is actually a quality guy to bring off the bench. I wouldn’t want George or Wright to get in the game ever though. The Knicks are on the rise wether u like it or not.
6 years 42.5million is still to high for Varejao. I just don’t understand the Cavs logic…I would much rather have Lee, Bass, or Glen Davis.
The Nets don’t have anybody….Lee is just a role player, TWill is going to have a rough rookie year, Yi & Sean Williams aren’t really difference makers yet. You can’t win a ton of games just based on Harris & Lopez. I think they will get a very high pick in the draft. You have to remember the Nets lost their best player and their starting PF in that trade with the Magic.
I have to admit right now I think the Nets are the worst team in the East.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 5:08am #179058

Knicksboy34ParticipantMaybe…I dunno, I just think Lopez year 2 could get you 20-11-2 and Harris will be like a 24-7guy. I think Lee could be your defender to CDR being a scorer at SG and now they have like 4-5 big man who are role players.
I think they can pull out 35 games.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 7:31am #179091

sheltwon3ParticipantJersey plays in the East and they should win between 32 to 38 games in the season easy. You can surround a great big and point with role players and they should do fine. Also these so called role players are very talented.

d-grizzlyParticipantthe varejao deal is ugly. way overpaid. just nasty. lee would have been alot better of a pickup than him…what the @#$^%% were they thinking?
it wouldn’t be a bad idea to see one of the hawk guards in orlando, maybe flip?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 8:22am #179113

d-grizzlyParticipantisn’t this portland’s chance to go for a.miller? being that a point guard may be more of a need than another pf….
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 8:24am #179114
ckowalskiParticipantI think the problem is the player’s agent puts a number into the player’s head and most of the time it’s unrealistic. Then they feel like if they don’t get that number they are somehow underpaid. Like David Lee’s agent wants $12 million a year for him. I hope he doesn’t honestly think a team is going to pay David Lee $12 million a season. The only teams with close to enough cap space to match that would have him coming off the bench. He should really be looking for close to the midlevel or else he’s going to have to take his qualifying offer.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 8:30am #179115
doubledribblerParticipantWhat’s up with all of these role players getting overpaid? First Ben Gordon, now Varejo. Turkoglu and Bargnani are both getting 5 year $50 million deals. It’s crazy. There should be some good players to be had for next to nothing when the dust clears because teams that have money either aren’t spending or are running out and the rest are getting way over the cap.
I’m starting to think that David Lee is going to have to go back to the Knicks for probably around 8 million, which is probably what they want him for. Nate Robinson won’t be able to command much, even a guy like Flip Murray who is nice off the bench isn’t going to get anything. I would love to have Ramon Sessions. I wouldn’t be surprised if Big Baby has to go back to Boston or go somewhere else on the cheap. I mean if I am wrong about the money situation let me know. I’m just trying to figure out why teams that aren’t contending now aren’t saving money for next year.
All of this might create some European defections?

d-grizzlyParticipanti wish the grizzlies would have paid the double double machine 12 mill
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 8:41am #179123
ckowalskiParticipantI think Lee needs to go to a winning team honestly. Sending a player who doesn’t know how to win games to a team that doesn’t know how to win games (no offense to grizzly fans) isn’t the best move. The grizz should bring in a veteran that can contribute 15-20 minutes per game and have a presence in the locker room for the young guys on that team. Problem is there aren’t many quality vets out there. Even if you pay Lee $12 million he wont be the difference between the playoffs and the lottery. He has no experience in helping a team get to the playoffs, he’s just a quality role player.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 8:46am #179127

d-grizzlyParticipantthe grizz struggled with rebounding last year and have since the dawn of time. lee would have only given them paint presence and more rebounding. he wouldn’t have gotten them to the playoffs. but he would still be a great fit and over time, would do great things.

kaceyParticipantI thought Delfino didn’t even play in the NBA anymore. Is he planning on coming back ?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 9:38am #179167
BasketballGuru24ParticipantSigning A Role Player For That Much Is Stupid!!………Why Would The Cavs Waste Money Like That, He Isn;t Even That Good, he Can Hustle But Thats it….You Don’t Pay Him That Much …..woow im suprised but w/e there wasting money. The Raptors are going to look alot different from last year…..i think they desperate for keeping bosh
