Washington has a real chance to beat West Virginia.  I don’t think the upset occurs but I expect a close game.

I’ve heard a lot of people picking WV to beat Kentucky.  I say that is crazy talk.  Kentucky is going to run right through WV with little problems.  The toughest test the Wildcats will face on the way to the Final 4 will be Cornell.  Cornell should slow the game down & shoot a lot of 3’s.  I think Kentucky will beat Cornell but it will be a single digit victory.  Cousins will have a feast against WV.  Patterson can shut down Ebanks &or Jones.  WV doesn’t have the guard play to run with the Cats.

I really hope California beats Duke.  I picked Duke to win but I hate the pukies.  Just wait until Duke runs into Baylor in the Elite 8 which is played in Houston….trouble trouble.

Omar Samhan really is a beast at least on the collegiate level. Still Baylor has the bigs to put a stop to all that nonsense.

How did Ohio beat Georgetown again?  That was the biggest surprise of the tournament so far for me.  Ohio isn’t even good.

Kalin Lucas is now hurt, I’m not sure how bad. Chris Allen is also a little injured.  Michigan St. won’t beat Northern Iowa if Lucas doesn’t play.  Northern Iowa all the way to the Final 4?  Maybe.  If Michigan St. is fully healthy though I think they will sneak by UNI.

Tennessee isn’t very good.  They got lucky in the 1st round & even luckier in the 2nd round getting to face OHIO.  What a break.  Ohio St. should have a pretty easy time beating the Vols.

Syracuse looked very good today.  That zone is sick.  Rautins is $$$ from deep.  Wesley Johnson baller, man has he improved since those Iowa St. dayz. If Onauku gets healthy look out.  Kentucky better hope they don’t see the Cuse in the finals.  You heard me.

I really screwed up the bottom of the West bracket. I had Minnesota vs. BYU in the sweet 16 game…Ouch. I really thought BYU would outsmart & outshoot Kansas St.  I also thought the Gophers matched up well against Xavier & Pitt.

I thought before the tournament started that Syracuse & Kentucky both had a cake walk to the Final 4.  I still think that is the case for the most part.  So far that has certainly been true.

Murray St. beating Vandy also surprised me.  Vandy is a pretty good defensive team.  They just tried to play too fast.  If they slowed the game down hey would’ve won.   I think Vandy is better than Butler. Funny how things work out.

As a K-State fan, I’m scared of a potential Pitt v. K-State matchup. I’m interested to see how we match up with them, particularly how are guards get through their screens. They have physical, wide bigs.

I could’ve told you BYU didn’t match up with Kansas State. They were terrible on the glass against a long Florida frontline that’s similar in their builds to KSU, and as K-State started throwing athletes at them down low they wouldn’t rebound well. They had no advantages anywhere.

Look for Samhan to have trouble against the length and athleticism of Udoh and Acy. LaceDarius Dunn should also have a nice game, very good player.

I see Kentucky getting the title now. WVU is shaky and I think Kentucky has been easily the most dominant team in the tourny with Syracuse (who I think they’ll play) being the 2nd most dominant.

Look for Tennessee to beat Ohio State. I don’t agree with Ohio State beating them. J.P. Prince matches up well with Turner, and Tennessee has a better mix of athletes and length that Georgia Tech didn’t quite have.

Is there a more hyped player than Kevin Jones of WVU?? He’s a very energetic player, I like his game out there.

I would really love to see Cornell pull off the upset against Kentucky, I hate Calipari which I mention in almost every other post, but I would love to see it happen. Cornell will have a huge home court advantage only playing 2 hours away from campus, and they have played in the Carrier Dome before, so I expect it to be a close game.

Don’t worry about K-State too much. They are the toughest team in college basketball. The only reason why they lost to Kansas twice is simply cause KU had more “next level” talent. The only other team left that matches K-State’s intensity level is WV. Baylor will slaughter Duke (assuming they meet) if they don’t play scared about the stage they are playing on. But that’s a big if since Baylor isn’t used to playing as a semi favorite in front of millions.

So, I’ve been big on Northern Iowa all season, and I’ve been saying they are a sweet 16 team since January,…well, I was right. And guess what else, I’m a die hard Kansas fan, and have been since the early 90’s, not just a bandwagoner. Oh, sweet irony, how it hurts.

Yeah I was high on Northern Iowa all season too.  I still didn’t think they would beat Kansas though.  Honestly if they played 10 games on a neutral court I think Kansas would win 8 of them.

How does Kansas St. matchup against Syracuse?  Just curious to hear thoughts on that.

Iggy- So why exactly do you think Tennessee will beat Ohio St.? I hope you are right but I just don’t think it is going to happen.  Georgia Tech has much better big men than the Vols do.

Also if Texas A&M beats Purdue in overtime how do they matchup against Duke?  Plus that game will be played in Texas.  Home court for A&M pretty much.  Could they beat Duke?

I really hope it’s St Mary vs Duke to go to the Final Four. I’d believe it would be the highest viewed Elite Eight game.

To me? All the Kansas players and Greg Monroe stock fell in this tourney

    New Mexico…Wow. 18 point loss to a 11 seed?

Omar Samhan- Draftable to me now.

Cornell will get killed by Kentucky.

Kansas State matches up fairly well with Syracuse, because they have the jump shooters to attack the zone outside but they also have Curtis Kelly can attack the free throw line in the middle of the zone shooting and passing out of it. We also have Dominique Sutton and Jamar Samuels who can match up with Wes Johnson and Kris Joseph on the defensive end. Alot of things would have to go in our favor though against that zone, like Pullen and Clemente shooting well. I think Clemente will be a non-factor slashing to the rim so that will be tough in terms of initiating the offense. We have an outside chance because of how we defend, but we have to have a solid shooting game from Pullen and Clemente to advance. Syracuse has a better chance to win though.

I like Tennessee because for as well as Shumpert matched up with Turner most of the game today, J.P. Prince is a better defender. Ohio State won today because of the perimeter guys, and I think that Prince, Maze/Goins, and Hopson will defend well enough to stop Turner. Chism is a mismatch for Lauderdale too, so that helps. And I think Tennessee can throw all types of lineups in to keep OSU out of rhythm.

I think Northen Iowa knocks of Michigan St..

If Tennessee beats Ohio St, Northern Iowa will go to the final 4.

K-State can knock off Syracuse.. but I dont think they get there.. Xavier wins that game.

I think St Mary’s will play Duke in the Elite 8, St Mary’s isn’t a 1 man team, they have some pretty good guards too, McConnell can fire from deep and so can the otehr guard (forget his name but that guy who did the Globrtrotter type move and hit the 3)
If they shoot well and Samhan plays well they can beat Baylor, and I think they will.

Greivis Vasquez got robbed.. too bad for him, he must feel bad. Brought his tema back and lost on a game winner.

Kentucky will beat Cornell, I hope Cornell wins, I really do, but Wittman will really have to light it up and Louis Dale will need to have a game like he did today. They have a good offense though, they run good sets, they can all shoot and they are unselfish, this will be a VERY good game.

    Greg Monroe’s stock just DROPPED

Chris Kramer really impresses me, he is an elite defender and he actually has a decent offensive game. Without Hummel, Purdue CAN knock off Duke.
