MallStax5Participantyour team is…
31-20
heading into the all star break.
5th in the west
you have a strong chance to get first place sine your only 3 games out.
DO YOU..
stay the way you are as far as rosters??
OR
your SG is avg 19 ppg, 3 apg, 5 rpg under contract for 2 more years at 18 mil age 27
the face of you franchise your SF under contract for 1 more year at 16 mil he wants to come back and is willing to negotaite long term but WONT if he is traded. age 24
is avg 22 ppg, 5 apg, 4 rpg.
you have a chance to get the 3rd best player during that season age 29
he is a Sg/Sf under contract for 4 more years at 42 milavg
29 ppg, 7 apg, 8 rpg
AND you have a back shooting guard that is 34 avg 5.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2 apg
do you make that trade?

White ChocolateParticipantThats tempting, but I would stick with my team and maybe make some minor adjustments like a solid shooter/scorer to come off the bench and/or a back-up center that could come off the bench and get you a couple rebounds, a couple points, and a couple blocks or so.

llperezof course the contracts don’t even come close to matching up. you would be trading away about 25 mill for a guy who is making 10 mill. That means some other contracts would have to be involved wich could change things.

FutureoftheGameAre these guys actual people or just something you made up? A couple of these players sound alot like a few active players.

kaceyParticipantWhat’s the trade?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/22/2009 - 5:55pm #188188

llperezHe did’nt actually say what the trade was, but I just asumed he meant trading his sg and sf for the top 3 sf player in return.

kaceyParticipantI wouldn’t make that trade then if it was my SG and SF for the 3rd best player. Considering you are just 3 games back, I would make a smaller trade to add depth or to address something that needs a little tweak.
Also, trading the face of your franchise, whom is only 24 years old and your SG who is in his young prime years for someone that is already 29 is a little bit crazy. You don’t want to trade away your youth for someone who is 29 with 4 years on their contract unless you have some serious cap room after the season and if you are confident your team can reel in a big name FA (if a big name FA is even available).
If you are only 3 games out and the 5th seed, then that means you are probably about 1/2 game to 1.5 games back from the 4th seed and having home court advantage in the playoffs.
Great post. Very creative.

llperezI can’t call it a great post seeing as how the contracts are’nt even close to matching up. And if one of the top 3 players in the league is locked up for 4 more years at 10 mill per, then I would trade for him and spend the crazy money I would save on another elite free agent.

kaceyParticipantWe kind of need more financial information. Like our team’s current cap situation.
Good catch on the salary of 10 mill per year. Of course the contract could be back loaded with most of the money coming in the latter years. Still, that would create even more cap room for next year’s FAs.
This would be a trade I would be more willing to do during the offseason, not during the midway point of a season where you are only 3 games back from first, and even less from home court advantage.
Considering the lack of financial information and the lack of a proper format to make the post easier to understand, I still thought it was a great post.
