Lotto StudParticipantThe early Kevin Durant comparisons makes it tough for Porter Jr. to win many people over if the athleticism doesn’t catch back up from his back injury. Not to say that he will not be a good to great player in the future, but if he doesn’t meet those expectations placed upon him, I can see him being a DerMarr Johnson type of player which isn’t as bad as it may appear to be for those who haven’t had a chance to see him get busy.

The GoatParticipantWho is calling him Durant?

Lotto StudParticipantThis isn’t nothing new that just happened to magically appear. The comparisons have been thrown out there for the longest.

The GoatParticipantI see the positives, but I also see a shorter Andrea Bargnani on offense. Before you throw stuff, Bargnani could score OK for a while there, but was never anywhere close to becoming KD .. and neither is Porter, despite potential. Sorry fan girls.

Arc12345ParticipantI don’t really see that one. If you watched him play in HS the dude was a legit guard (albeit still stiff)
He wasn’t as slow or awkward as Bargnani. He also had hops and was getting his head at the rim. Whether he can return to that form remains to be seen.

TRC1991ParticipantBargnani comparison is complete and utter garbage

Andv1 WaitingParticipantI never saw K.D..More of a Wing that can play a stretch 4 sort of like more like one of 3 players:
Ryan anderson-Both are quite tall and have good fundamentals while being able to space the floor.
Kristaps Porzingas- This is most likely his ceiling though, both like to space the floor, have height, can bang when they need to
Or
Maybe a Dario Saric type player is where I see him sort of ending up.
But this is dependent on the health as Backs can derail careers a little.

Lotto StudParticipantA different outlook… Playing at Missouri, I seen Porter settle for a lot of perimeter shots that may indicate it’s the direction he goes at the next level if the athleticism doesn’t catch back up. The league is totally different from college and in a man’s game, you have to be just as dominant. Not to take anything away from what he was capable of doing, it’s not like it’s a speculation at this point because he chose to play to show us what he can do, so we can only go from what we have seen.

OhCanada-ParticipantThe "he only played 2 games" excuse is so lame. Even before he played for Missouri I thought he lacked ballhandling, court vision and feel so sitting out for his freshman season really didnt help change that opinion. I like him as a longterm prospect hes very skilled and has great athletic abillity for his size and length he just needs to get coached up and his work ethic will be the deciding factor on how good he can become. If nhe uses that length and fluidity to focus on being a defensive swiss army knife he can become one of the most productive 2 way players in the league but he doesnt strike me as the defensive minded type. Seems like he thinks hes Kevin Durant.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantSome of these comparisons are just weird. Bargnani? Ryan Anderson? Porzingis?
Dermarr Johnson is probably like an absolute worst case scenario if he never regains his athleticism. Guys like Tim Thomas or Rudy gay are probably more along the lines of guys who I could sort of see his body and skill set resembling. Durant is probably incredibly optimistic.

That’s exactly what I mentioned in my original post.

HeroescantdieParticipantat this time when coming out, h dominated college, to me porter is above ingram when coming out, alhtough he is injured, idk if he’s ahtletecism will be back, but his measurables at the combine is good in terms of height, but with some issue like weight wingspan and body fat, If im him and im confident enough that im fully heal, i would take the athletic testing, but I think he’s nowhere near the athlete he is before, hopefully itll be back.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantPorter is Grant Hill. A season off have made people forget just how legit of an all star prospect he is.

Robb_CParticipantPorter has a very solid game, I actually would take his skillset over Doncic in this league right now!
He has this Tracy McGrady smoothness to his game, thats the one thing I really notice about his approach,
Hes in my opinion the best option to lead a squad in this draft, Teams are snoozing if they let him slip..

@MoneyBall_APParticipanta worse shooting Austing Daye.
Light frame. Slow. Can’t get shoulders down to play "low," affecting his abiltiy to take and play through the bump. Volume shooter. Definitely guardable.
I dare not compare him to Kevin Durant NOR Tracy McGrady. Back problems since his Sophmore year of HS – is that not a problem?
0- Posted on: Fri, 05/18/2018 - 4:45pm #1117242

OhCanada-ParticipantHis stance is pretty bad. Hes always completely straight.

whiteflashParticipantI’ve said for awhile Porter reminds me of a bouncier Gallinari. The KD comparisons are crazy. KD’s the definition of fluid, while Porter looks stiff and upright, and that’s before his injury.
