Let me start off by saying I didnt like him at the beginning. Didn’t think he was really a point guard and just got hyped for a lot of potential, but wasnt really a good player which is also why his team didnt have much success (although they did make a good run that one year when D-Rose got injured), and I also didnt think he deserved his contract this year.

But this year he’s got Rondo, so for the first time in his career if Im not mistaken, he isnt the teams PG. and now hes gotten a chance to really flourish and play his perfect role IMO – great D, score within the system, and be a good playmaker. A sort of evolved 3 and D. This is the reason i think the Pelicans are doing so great this season and are up 2-0 on the Blazers.

His stats from game 2 – 33 points on almost 60% and 9 assists, only 1 TO and a big shot in the clutch.

What do you guys think about him? about NOP in general? did he deserve his salary? if not, is he justifiying it with his play this year? He is only 27 years old, is he better suited to play the second playmaker for the rest of his career?

Great 2 way player and from all reports a great guy. I think he can be effective in a  few roles. Hes healthy now so he’s finally in a groove, showing what made him an all star. The Pels stuck by Jrues family there in some bad times and I think part of signing the deal was more about the club showing they are willing to build and strengthen relationships, showing other players the support the club will give and the type of environment they want. I don’t think the deal was totally all about Jrue if that makes sense. I think they were willing to slightly overpay – you can’t buy a positive culture but they’re trying.. and it’s working. They just need a good 3 n D guy, some bench vets and Boogie to come back. They are in better shape than most. With some luck they will enter a period where they are actually contending starting next season.

Jrue Holiday has the smoothest relaxed style of play. Nothing he does is forced. I’ve been saying it for years as well that he’s better suited off the ball all the way back to his days in Philly.

I remember a while ago with Philly when he was 22 he was the best PG in the East for a season. He averaged 18 and 8 making the Allstar game. Injuries hit him hard since joining NOP  but he seems to be playing the best ball of his life. Rondo turns bad teams into Playoff road warriors.

FACTZ.  If Rondo didn’t get hurt last year Chicago would’ve beat Boston in the playoffs last year

Pelicans r playing with attitude.  I Agree wit My neighbor to the north. That Rondo has ignited them. Its Hard to say if they play better without Boogie, Becuz they were on a roll b4 he got hurt. But I believe without him it opens the lane for Davis to be his best.

I don’t think Cousins hinders Davis’ play. Cousins and Mirotic both shoot threes at a similar rate (about 6 attempts a game). So he’s not going to clog up the lane. Cousins also has better ball handling and passing ability than Mirotic, which will create more easy oppurtunities for Davis. On defense, Cousins can bang down low so Davis can focus on the more preimeter oriented players, which will help his health and longevity.

I hope the Pelicans keep all three of them and form a very good big man rotation.
