STATnMeloParticipanthttp://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/70584/20101214/bulls_nuggets_discussing_trade_for_jr_smith/
trade could be JR Smith for Ronnie Brewer or Keith Bogans and a future 1st
Rose-Smith-Korver-Boozer would be hard to stop offensively.
Lets hope this helps JR realize his potential

Michael.S.ParticipantI actually think Brewer is better for the Bulls, although Smith is the better basketball player. I just don’t think you can win games with him.
BTW, anyone know when the trade deadline is?

STATnMeloParticipantI’m jus speculating. Smith for Bogans is absurd but add in one of Chicago’s 1st then it makes sense. I think we fail to realize that with the emergence of Afflalo and Harrington Smith is like the 5th maybe 6th option for Denver he would get more opportunities in Chicago, Rose, Boozer and Deng would be the 1st 3 options Smith would run the 2nd unit allowing Brewer to start and defend the teams best wing

JoeWolf1Brewer has been playing really well lately, I think he’s finally starting to hit his stride, I don’t think the Bulls can sacrifice such a good wing defender for a guy who is all offense.

bkballerParticipantJR and Rose would be the dumbest backcourt in the NBA. Those two put together have a slightly lower iq than a wooden chair.

GrandmamaParticipantThis has already been a topic at least three times in the last couple months. The Bulls already traded for J.R. Smith a few years ago only to turn around and promptly trade him away. Upper management doesn’t want him.

ChrischiParticipantBrewer as a starter and JR off the bench would be sick. A real 6th man who can score is probably the only thing Chicago really lacks right now.

Cardinal_FanParticipantI think JR is wut he is at this point an thats a Jason Terry type instant offense sixth man, Its sad becuz i think we all know he so much capable of more than that becuz from a talent standpoint the guy has it all, he can shoot, dribble, a freak athlete….but he is so immature. I think it will be to late in his career b4 JR realizes how special he could have been, hopefully im wrong tho.

Mr. 19134ParticipantJR. Smith is an amazing fit for Chicago and if your a Bulls fan you have to be excited about the possibility of getting him. As far as Brewer being a better fit only on defense where Brewer would fit anywhere. But JR Smith spaces the floor better for Boozer and Rose something Brewer will never be able to do that is why I think this would be such a nice trade. There is a reason Bogans continues to start over Brewer because Chicago needs that floor spacing. And Smith is not a bad defender he can get into passing lanes and got Noah to clean up for him. If there was a way to keep Brewer and Smith that would be the best bet for the Bulls. I have always been a big Brewer fan and thought he was going to end up similar to Iggy coming out of college because of his strength, athleticism, and all around game at the wing position but he has been a huge underachiever thus far.

Moon RiverParticipantPaxson traded for Smith years ago and basically gave him away for next to nothing. Unless Smith has done a 180 turn with his personality, Smith is not a guy Paxson wants on this team. Smith is without a doubt an upgrade for the Bulls at SG, but the non-basketball stuff will prevent this from happening.
Having said that, I am all for the Bulls upgrading at the SG and dumping Bogans. You already have Brewer to defend that position when it matters.

SteroidParticipantYeah, it’s pretty sad… JR Smith could be a 20ppg scorer in this league at the least if he got his head on right. He is still young enough, so he still has a chance to turn it around and have a redeeming career. Even so, he still could contribute in a major way to the Bulls. Brewer could start games just for the sake of defense, then JR could come off the bench and get starter minutes. He would stretch the floor and be more than just a guy who is a spot up shooter. He can also be a go-to guy for offense when Rose has an off night or is on the bench, which they currently don’t have.

I think if you look at the Bulls roster and general bench depth and compare them to other contenders, they could really use a strong bench player although they’re winning right now. JR is a special offensive talent.
