SpartanGloryParticipantHow about Smith and Stuckey to Pheonix for Okafor and Frye? Detroit it gets a second chance after making a bad signing for Smith an outside shooting, while Pheonix gets guard depth and an all star caliber 2-way player to run with Dragic and Green and Bledsoe.
Pheonix would also through in a pick.

TyroberParticipantActually interesting imo. Josh Smith at the 3 was never going to work. It’s basically a salary dump for the Pistons and it allows them to keep Monroe. Not sure if the Suns want to pay Smith all that money after they give Bledsoe a big contract though.
I think what is more likely though is they do not find a take for Smith and end up trading Monroe.

juves4783Participanti doubt that phoenix would make that trade. they still need to re-sign bledsoe and will probably use the money from okafor coming off the books to do that. frye is decent and only has a year left on his contract after this. for the $6 million he’s getting, they are at least getting scoring and 3-pt shooting. plus 2014 nba free agency and draft class is deep. i’d think if you had a good, young team like phoenix; you’d want to be flexible this offseason.
detroit needs to trade monroe if anyone so they can get something for monroe (last year of his contract). stuckey has a year left and villanueva is coming off the books, but it’s doubtful they’ll re-sign him because josh smith is no sf and should be playing pf.

Jester87ParticipantPhoenix would never do that. They want cap flexibility and they also have been playing really well with their current roster and Frye’s shooting has been one of the keys. Smith is talented, but how well will he fit in this team? What if they get him and he destroys the chemistry Hornacek built? That could make sense for an aging team with disappointing results and in win now mode, not for a young overachieving team with upside.

SpartanGloryParticipantIt’s already been reported that the sun are dangling picks and Okafors contract for veteran all star type players. I know they have the option to save cap space but I’ve never seen anything that says that that is what they are going to do.
also, do people just give negs on trade ideas just because? I think only one person had a counter argument for this trade.

BogDon_KryptParticipantYes, they give negs for any proposed trade. Do the math, I’ve proposed about 50 trades (all good), and check out my score.

juves4783Participanti don’t think anyone is arguing the credibility of your source, but rather the veteran that they are referring to. to me, it would make more sense to bring in some backcourt help. the morris twins and plumlee are holding their own and are young. frye is a decent player that can spread the floor. dragic and green are doing well, but bledsoe can’t seem to stay healthy.
rodney stuckey makes sense but josh smith does not.

SpartanGloryParticipantI’m just pondering ways for the pistons to dump smith and get a higher draft pick. This seems like a somewhat logical option. It’s really tough right now to be a pistons fan after watching Dumars drag the team back a couple steps every few years. I’m a strong proponent that smith needs to go and Monroe should be resigned. For some reason though, it looks like Dumars has given up on him and is goin with Smith, which I think is idiotic.

jaycee24ParticipantCome to think of it I wouldn’t mind Detroit trading jennings for an expiring PG maybe package him with Monroe and use the Charlie V and Stuckey money (if he isn’t resigned) to go after Bledsoe in free agency then again we’ll sign Lowry for 5 years around $60 million if I know the Pistons
