I came up across some interesting articles and video clips of his workouts, I know its just individual workouts but from what Im reading about losing weight and working on his PG skils he looks very impressive. Do you think he can turn it around and redeem himself in the NBA he’s looking like that prospect a year earlier when rivals had him rated number 1.

208 down to 195 is vry reasonable, because I was not buying the 183 he was listed at.

I spent a few days in Lawrence this summer staying in the athletes dorms since by friend from high school was also a fellow freshman on the Kansas basketball team and I met the entire team.  Only person that didn’t fit in with the whole group was Selby.  Teammates didn’t seem to like him and he didn’t seem to want to be there.  When I asked him "one and done?" he responded "6 months and done."  He clearly wasn’t into the whole college thing so I could see him being more dedicated, work harder, and show up at the next level.  These articles all point towards those predictions.

He could be another Bayless, another Steve Francis or another Javaris Crittenton….

It all depends on how much he’s willing to listen to coaches and continue working on his game…But earlier in the season alot of draft sites had him in the top 10….

Selby will be succesful as a pro. He’s been working his butt off, working out 8 hours a day. He lost 13 pounds and it’s just obvious he’s highly motivated right now. No doubt he hurt his own stock this season by appearing uninterested at times but ultimately he will be one of the top 8 players in this draft.

This is the kind of gem teams look for late in the draft, guys like him and Jeremy tyler this year. And in past years, a guy like Monta Ellis, or Dejaun Blair. I hope he gets a chance to prove himself in the NBA, and just a thought, the Heat have the Cavs second round pick, which is the 32 pick in the draft. If they can get a highly touted  high school  prospect that fizzled overseas or in college, they can add some much needed depth.

I’m not sold, I saw a lot of holes in his game throughout the season outside of his character and motivation issues.  Yeah, the guy is in shape now and wants to make money, but working with a trainer isn’t going to increase his ability to play point guard in the NBA.  He’s still a 6’2” combo guard.  To be honest, I don’t think he’ll be considered a bust because I don’t feel he’ll be drafted high enough, and he’s a great pick at the end of the first round because of his upside, but I think he’s a career role player and bench scorer.  He flat out is not a point guard right now and until he proves he can be (which he may) I’m not buying into the Josh Selby hype part II.

People forget a super talented kid like Jrue Holiday declared despite only avearging 8 ppg. Similarly I feel like Selby if he lands in the right situation given time can develop into a very good pro much like Holiday. The talent and tools are there undoubtedly. It’s up to work ethic how good he becomes.

Yeah, but I’m not a stat/highlight video guy when it comes to Selby.  I watched all of his games.

Holiday is a 6’4” guy who got slid to the 2 because Darren Collison ( a current NBA starter ) was playing the point guard.

Selby played next to Tyshawn Taylor who may or may not be a 2nd round pick next season.

Selby is no taller than 6’2” and although showing good vision in the open court, showed little to showcase any ability to play the point guard even when he was running the show when Taylor or Morningstar were on the bench.  He became a 3 point chucker and would often shoot himself out of games and his athleticism was mute because of his love for the jumper.

I’m not arguing with his athleticism or the fact that he’s in good shape now, but I still don’t think he’s a point guard and losing 10 lbs and saying he’s working hard now isn’t going to change the fact he’s a combo guard. I realize he has a lot of fan following, but everyone can’t be in love with him and I’m not.  His "potential" is all hinged on him being able to be a successful NBA point guard, not being a combo guard or super short 2 guard and I haven’t seen enough to make me believe he can be.

I see him as an energizer type 6th man like Jason Terry. He will never be a true point guard, you just don’t flip a switch it takes years of practice and a certain IQ.

"People forget a super talented kid like Jrue Holiday declared despite only avearging 8 ppg."

Wasn’t that the argument made for Avery Bradley last year? You cannot simply use the guise of high school rankings and thinking that simply covers up for being bad in college.

Also, Holiday and Westbrook were not bad players at UCLA. They were less prominent because Darren Collison was there and established.  Holiday still had a respectable assist-to-turnover for a freshman (1.7:1 overall and in Pac 10 games). He wasn’t much of a three point shooter, but was a solid finisher inside the arc.
