HandDownManDown13ParticipantLooking at Josh McRoberts play makes me wonder, why couldnt he be a contributer and play good minutes for the pacers. I really think he brings more skill than hansbrough and also more athleticism
So i have three questions guys.
Can/will McRoberts be a significant contributer (like a 6th 7th or 8th man) This year for the pacers)?
Can he play significant minutes for him this year?
Can he be a starter or a 6th man in the league somewhere down the road?
lets see what you guys think

Mutombo55ParticipantI agree with you…
I don’t think McRoberts is a good player, but he could join the rotation for the Pacers (9th man, I guess)

DaleoParticipanti think he could play as a back up center with them, he brings a whole different view for them from going to hibbert, who plays down low the whole game, from him who loves to hit 3’s.

IndianaBasketballParticipantMcRoberts is going to be given every opportunity to play next season.
He brings versatility at the four. He’s athletic… He hustles, rebounds and he has very good ball handling and passing skills. He’s a decent shooter also.

butidonthavemoneyHe plays great every year in the Summer League.

HandDownManDown13Participant^yeah i agree with you, but he’s never given the minutes he needs to show out in a real game. There were a couple times at the end of the season where he was given 20+ minutes and both times he put up very good (starter Quality) numbers and was very efficient

gregoden08ParticipantMcRoberts will never have a big impact in the NBA…He is a terrible defender and is a below average rebounder. Hansbrough at least has a niche right now and you people are underrating him. He played very well for stretches last year.
McRoberts can play in the NBA…but he is never going to be a rotation player because he doesn’t do one thing well. He isn’t a good enough 3 point shooter, isn’t creative off the dribble and doesn’t have a real good post up game.

JNixonParticipantHe can’t rebound or defend well. He probably will be a middle rotation player in the Pacers system because he can operate out of the triple threat and space the floor with his shooting, but he’s not truly that good of a player. Coach O’Brien just likes some of the things he brings to the table.

GalamothParticipantThere’s a reason he never ended up passing Pryzbilla in Portland. McRoberts is going to be little more than an intangibles / 4th or 5th big man on a team. Unless this 3 point shooting spree they have him on magically turns into converting 3’s… he’s not going to be anything above a role player.

OhCanada-ParticipantLet me cut to the facts..Pacers are rebuilding therefore they should simply trade or release these expiring salaries..
Troy Murphy $12 Mil
Mike Dunleavy $10.5 Mil
TJ Ford $8.5 MilThese players did not make the PAcers a good team so they will not be resigned and they should not get minutes that will be needed for the development of this team.
Also in the 6 games Josh McRoberts played 25+ MPG the pacers went 4 and 1.Pkay 5 games may be deceptive but its still on the record that they did do better when he plays more.In 29 mpg he went 12ppg 8rpg 1.6apg 1.6spg and 1.6 bpg. He looks like a very good piece chemistry wise and he looks improved in alot of ways on the court.
Also we saw Amir Johnson get 7 Mil a year for his limited playing time and Mcrobert’s is coming to his contract year so if Indiana doesnt give him minutes they could see him walk for someone who is interested…Give him 25+ minutes the first 10 games consecutively see how it goes and if it doesnt work from there stop doing it.I think he could be a MOST IMPRVED PLAYER Candidate and a true blue collar leader for Indianam btw WHERE IS TYLER HANSBOROUGH FOR THIS SUMMER LEAGUE TEAM. IS HE STILL INJURED?

PlatypusParticipantmaybe McRoberts will go into a Channing Frye type, Big who can shoot 3 off the bench to stretch the offense
