moximusParticipantHis shot is broken, that much is obviously. But athletically and BBIQ, he really is something special. Do you think teams will take the risk of drafting him #1 overall? and do you think he is worth that risk?

Magic JordanParticipantI would take him ahead of Ball but not Fultz.

llperezi finally got to see fultz play for about 5 minutes the other day and i was super impressed. i want to see some more of him, especially this upcoming week when the huskies and bruins play each other, but i got feeling fultz is the #1 pick in this draft.

I miss FlipParticipantI think the only team that would take Jackson number 1 would be the Suns. At the same time though I don’t know if they could resist a backcourt of Booker and Fultz.

I miss FlipParticipantI could also see the Lakers taking him number one to play the 2 guard next to Russell and Ingram. He’s one of my favourite prospects in this draft, but most lottery teams this year need a point guard and when Fultz, Smith and Ball are available I don’t really see Jackson being taken number one.

Arc12345ParticipantLike you said, his shot is broken. Not saying he can’t develop a really solid one, but it would take some serious dedication from where he is now.
I think he’s closer to MKG than Kawhi in my opinion. Kawhi wasn’t as bad of a shooter in college as Jackson is now.

vulture711ParticipantI don’t see there as being much risk as you put it……but he’s also not the type of franchise changer you’d hope to get as the 1st pick. Nothing franchise transforming. I guess for that matter, I’m not sure I can say that about any of the guys projected as the Top Pick….no knock on Josh. I don’t think he’s as good as Wiggins and the Wolves have Towns and Wiggins and are still aweful. If your need is a 3 man or want to add defense….he’s probably a good bet, but teams are usually looking for someone to turn their franchise around at #1 and he isn’t that

theballerwayParticipantI would. I think the shot is bad but improving. Eitherway not broken. It will need work but I see no reason why it cant be reliable at worst. It is nowhere near MKG shot in terms of straight up ugliness. He will never be Klay Thompson but with his slashing potential, court vision and defense at 6ft 6/7 there is so much to work with. He is averaging 15/ 6.5/3.1 on a veteran team which makes his numbers not as eye popping as some of the other freshman but he is making his situation work. I have no doubt he would average more on a less guard dominant team.
I think he can be a playmaker (not pg) from the 2 or 3 at the next level(specially if you have a shoot 1st pg like Lilard ,Kemba). He might not be the best player right out the gate but 3 years down the line Id bet on him to be up there especially with the lack of quality 2 guards.
Hes 6 for his last 9 from 3,(0-5 prior) but if you all believe Simmons can fix his shot why not Jackson? Now that FT percentage???? I can give no rhyme or reason. this is his most glaring flaw to me.

khaled_a_dParticipantSimple honest answer is no. Right now I don’t see anyone challenging Fultz for 1st overall pick after that I think there is no clear cut number 2
Won’t be surprised if JJ end up being 2nd pick or 9th pick, same for the top 9-10 picks so far. All has some serious potential and some worrisome holes and I think it will depend a lot on teams evaluations, sort like what happened in 2012 & 2013 drafts, though this one might be even stronger than 2012.0 - Posted on: Fri, 01/27/2017 - 5:53am #1091385

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantI wouldn’t take him earlier than 5

Big_C_KUParticipantIt’s gonna be interesting where he gets drafted. If he even becomes a decent perimeter shooter such as a Wade level 3pt shooter (30-35%) then you’re looking at a guy who I think could give you around 23-6-5 a game for most of career with elite defense at the SG or SF position. That jumpshot though is a big if as he’s definitely got some tweaking needed.
I feel Fultz is locked in at #1 right now. Just about every team who is gonna be in the running for #1 is going to need a PG. I think DSJ can separate himself if he continues to put up anything close to what he did vs Duke. I can see JJ locking himself into #3 draft spot if he keeps his 3pt % around 33%. It’s at 32% right now but after a 4-4 night that pushed the % from 25% to 32%.

MopgrassParticipantI like him for the Lakers. They’ve already got some potential shooters, there’s no great center in the draft, and he could play great defense at SG/SF (something they suck at).

Andv1 WaitingParticipantIt all depends on this question Who has the number one pick?
I have gone with the 4 worst record teams in both conferences though so any of these teams could get number 1 overall so…
Phoenix-The currently have an overload in the backcourt(Unless they go full rebuild and move on from Bledsoe/Knight) so may prefer to take a SF.
Mavericks need everything(except what ever position Barnes and maybe Matthews is) so if Jackson kills it in the work outs they may take a chance on him…
T-wolves: All depends on if they make any other trades this season(like the rumored Jimmy B move they would like). If they make this trade they go for the best guard that fits the team(Most likely Fultz), if no Jimmy B trade is made then they could go for the best available Sf to play off the Bench and be brought along slowly to either start eventually along side Wiggins or play a 6th man type role..
Magic- Could want the best available SF as they don’t really have one currently so they could take a risk on Jackson. However they could go with Futlz as they may prefer him to Run point over Payton(if his defense reasonable) as he has a better shot than Payton every will which wouldn’t surprise me either..
Heat: All depends on how invested in Winslow and Waiters+Dragic they are…If they move on from Waiters+Dragic a guard could go number one. But if they decided Winslow if just to injury prone they could take a risk on a Sf and may move Winslow to the bench/trade him which is where Jackson may get a look at Number 1.
76ers-Not likely they need shooters/Guards with a reasonable shot/defense..
Lakers(if they some how keep their pick-my guess highly unlikely). They could take anything really it all depends on who they believe is untouchable. For example they could take Jackson and elevate Ingram to starter and trade deng away or they could trade Russell/Clarkson away for assets and take a guard..It all depends on what they view as untouchable/a need.
Celtics(via Brooklyn): Not likely I see them taking the best available guard and don’t really need another Sf after drafting Brown last draft and since they already have crowder kind of making a sf a little less likely..There is also the Gordan hayward pursuit which may affect them drafting a Sf..
So of the 8 teams Jackson could at least get a look with at least 6 of the 8 teams that could go number 1..However it doesn’t mean he is guaranteed it more so that he will stand a chance to go number 1..

sportspolymathParticipantIs Josh right now, better than Jason Tatum will be in one year? They are a year apart. I have Ball number one overall.

bigjah8ParticipantNope, not over Fultz. He’s the generational talent in this draft

Robb_CParticipantBS.. Looks real good against average defense and looks like a chucker vs great defense, the kid is talented but a straight up ball hog..

DolanCareParticipantHis shot isn’t that bad, nothing like MKG. Jackson is still a threat from deep, the other team guards him from three. That said, he needs to work on his mechanics but it’s really not as bad as people make it seem like.

Mr. 19134ParticipantYes he could easily go first if he avgs 20 pg in the tourneys and keeps hitting 3’s. His defense is game changing.
Looking back would you take Kawhi over Kyrie?
