saladdaysParticipantI’m not sure if a thread’s already been made about this, but what are some differences between Andrew Wiggins in his senior year of high school and Josh Jackson now? They’re both ridiculously athletic wings with Wiggins being slightly taller and longer than Jackson is. I could be wrong, but from watching Wiggins’ senior year highlights, I get the impression that he was a more complete player, utilizing spin moves and euro-steps. If they were in the same draft, who would you guys be higher on and why?

Robb_CParticipantFirst off I’m a huge fan of Josh Jackson, so I might be a bit biased, I think hes the complete package and has superstar written all over him, Hes an uber athlete and comes from great genes much like Wiggins..
I’d take Josh Jackson over Wiggins, Wiggins struggled in Hs and even in College to create offense in the Half court game and relied heavily upon transition baskets to score points.. Jackson has a great basketball IQ and not only is great in transition but can play and create in the half court..
They’re both pogo sticks I’d give the slight edge to Wiggins in the athleticism department but Josh Jackson is the better prospect.. Mark my words hes going to be great.

wonzi_bellsParticipantTo me, Wiggins was the better pure scorer in high school and had more scoring moves in his arsenal and was the better jump shooter.
Jackson slightly has a better handle and a more powerful first step. I don’t think he’s all that great in creating his own shot in the half-court as well. Passing wise though, Jackson is ten times better. That guy is going to be a point-foward in the league. Defensively, they both have their upside but drift in and out, although Jackson seems more active on the boards but that might be more of a product of his teams since I see him play PF a lot.
But it comes down to Jackson’s jumper if he’ll be better. Right now I see his ceiling as a high usage Andre Iguodala type. But at the time when Wiggins came out of high school, I thought he was going to be a mid-20s scoring wing, which he’s sort of trending to be, so I’d choose him with that combine with the defensive potential I think he’ll reach, at that point in time and now as well.

UncledrewParticipantWiggins has better athleticism but that’s it. Jackson looks more comfortable with the basketball and creating offense and looks to be a much more natural basketball player. They both have similar ceilings but I’d bet on Josh because I think his skills and killer instinct will translate into a more commanding player then wiggins. Josh body frame looks thicker and more capable of putting on good weight, which should increase his defensive versatility even more. Right now Karl Towns is making a case as the wolves number 1 option, I don’t see anyone making the same case when Josh enters the league. When he does he will quickly take control of his team and undisputedly become his teams franchise player.

MopgrassParticipantThere is one area Josh Jackson is head and heals above senior year Wiggins: killer instinct. Jackson doesn’t nearly have the diversity of moves or even the jumper (as mentioned earlier), but man, does he want it. Wiggins has really worked on developing it and it’s real hard to teach. Josh Jackson looks like he was born with it and it’s part of why he’s so easy to get behind.

Jr. ROXASParticipant"Doesn’t nearly have the diversity of moves", what moves exactly? I like Wiggins but his poor handle really limits his ability to score. Jackson’s handle is a lot better than Wiggins’ and that will allow him to have a more diverse set of moves.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantI would take Josh Jackson over Andrew Wiggins. I believe both can be lock down defenders, but I believe Josh Jackson have a better all around offensive game. Andrew Wiggins, for a 6’9" uber athletic wing, he have a very poor rebounding percentage. Also, he have a pretty bad assist rate for a guy that is a pretty poor rebounder. Josh Jackson can pass at a high level and he can rebound at a high level. That’s the biggest difference between the whole the two.

Bill Walton’s KneesParticipantOne thing I feel necessary to point out is that after Woggins reclassified, he graduated at 18 like a normal high schooler. Jackson has the benefit of being a year older during his senior year.
This is not a knock on Jackson as player, as I believe he could be putting up 15-17 PPG at the college level right now. Just some food for thought when comparing the two players SR years.

VintageKobeParticipantJosh Jackson is a better finisher and more creative around the basket with better touch and body control. I’ve watched Wiggins play going on 4 years and I’ve yet to see him make a reverse layup. Josh is also a better ball handler and passer. I’m a big Wiggins fan but what really makes me lean towards Josh is his fire. You’ll never have to question if he’s going all out
