I watched the Cal Wyoming game on Saturday and was very impressed with Josh Adams. I have watched Wyoming occasionally over the last few years and remember Adams being a solid player with great leaping ability playing second fiddle behind Larry Nance Jr. This year he seems like he has turned the corner. He is now the main man for the Cowboys, which I think is the fourth youngest team in the nation.

His jumpshot looked really improved as he looked very confident from mid-range and from the 3-point line. The elevation he gets on his shot is very impressive. Even though he only stands at 6-2 he looks like he can get his shot off over a lot of players. He was also getting past his man with ease anytime he wanted to the entire game. He finished strong at the rim a few times too, which showed he isn’t afraid of contact.

The blow by ability he used to get past defenders on the offensive end he also used on the defensive side to stay in front of his man. He is carrying a heavy load for this team on the offensive end and he did not look like he got tired at all playing almost the entire game.

He did seem to over dribble at times, but that was probably a case of not having another good ball handler on the team. A knock against him is that he is not a true point, although he is a good distributor, and not a true shooing guard either since he is only 6-2. Being a second round pick is very attainable for him this year considering the improvements he has made in his game. I think he can play a role on an NBA team similar to the one Tyler Johnson plays with the Heat off the bench.

Let me know what you guys think of this guy. Have you seem him play this year compared to other years? What kind of shot do you think he has at making an NBA roster?

P.S. I also really like that he is a big time competitor. He seems like he really cares about winning.

Seen him play a few times. Freak athlete. Seriously, his vert and straight line speed are off the charts. If basketball doesn’t work out he’s got a future as a db in football. Decent handle, but pretty basic. Awfully right handed. Nice jumper, elevates, good form. Saw him play in hs as well. Was a good athlete then, but physically maturing and a good strength program have really brought out his explosiveness. Not really sure how (or if) he projects in the NBA, but he’ll make money playing basketball somewhere.
