llperezDammit. I wanted him to at least get an opportunity to start somewhere. Now I gotta root for harris to struggle and i really like harris.

JNixonParticipantGives them a decent backup PG. The Nets are stockpiling depth at all positions these days

Leftovers16Participantwow I thought no other team wouldve wanted him guess not the Nets do… Well they got a guy who can score 20 5 times out of the 82 games they play if he gets hot or lucky or something waste of money IMO
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 3:09pm #352091

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantDepth is one thing, but of the eleven guys they have under contract I only see two who should be starting. It is still a bad team.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 3:12pm #352096

llperez@leftovers, you didnt even think he would get signed by anybody? I can see people saying hes not a starter, but damn have you been watching him at all?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 3:12pm #352097

JNixonParticipantWho are those 2 guys? Lopez and Harris I’d assume….What about Terrence Williams? No starter love for him?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 3:15pm #352104

Fresh_The_FanParticipantWell, we all seen this one coming as the Lakers prepared for Farmar’s and maybe Fisher’s departure by adding Steve Blake to the roster. I wish Farmar the best, for the rest of his career, because he won’t be winning another ring during his stint in the pros on this Nets squad; unless they find a way to pull of a All-NBA trio acquisition like what the Heat did.

bkballerParticipantIs 17 million for Outlaw, Petro, Farmar, Morrow really that much of an improvement over 9-10 million for Dooling, CDR, Yi, Boone?
not at all impressed with the nets summer, you put up a blueprint for greatness banner by msg and vow to steal knicks fans and then you get the pick of the leftovers in FA….niceeeee

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantNets miss out on the big free agents and now they are signing role players. That won’t help much.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 3:17pm #352111
stanford hoopsthats a good pickup for them.. the nets didnt do a good job this summer. overpaying for outlaw now getting farmar… twill should make a big leap this year though and d.james looked like a baller, then they have favors for the future. they still wont be that good but they have time with all these young players so they will slow build year after year
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 3:27pm #352130

llperezthe nets have been less then impressive this summer. But dont lump farmars 3 years and 12 mill into it. He is a solid rotation player with championship experience.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 3:34pm #352135

Knicksfan1ParticipantHes allright but only a solid backup point guard in the leauge at best. This and the Travis Outlaw signing to me means that the Nets overpaying for players cause they missed out on all the big free agents

Leftovers16ParticipantWhat exp sitting on the bench I live in Cali I see him every day on the news next to Morrison on the bench and the picked up a bunch of garbo after Favors trying to make a move thats completely not needed they couldve gotten Sasha or Mbenga or Powell they just as much playoff Exp as Farmar LOL
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 3:40pm #352137
Lotto StudParticipantI wanted Shaun Livingston or Kyle Lowry badd!!!!!!
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 3:42pm #352140

llperezwow, you are gonna compare a guy who actually played and got minutes every single game and was in the 8 man rotation to adam morrison? You are losing some credibility on that one. And you living in cali has no bearing. Im pretty sure we all have a television.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantMy Nets really haven’t done much this summer. I saw a Nets commercial promoting their new stadium and cap room and Proko. They updated the cap room situation from $33 million to $27 million, but they didn’t show the Travis Outlaw signing. What does that tell you?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 3:52pm #352152

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThey have eleven guys signed for about $37-40 million, depending on how Outlaw, Farmar, and Morrow structure their deals. In total, they aren’t expensive. They just aren’t very good, and it is more money than their players probably should get.

stanford hoopsyou know what…are some of these players over paid?..whats the set market for a starting sf?.backup pg?..for some reason it seems like its higher then what i first thought
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:07pm #352160
ronniemiller1kParticipantnets had to do this, yea farmar, outlaw, petro, morrow arent much different from yi, boone, dooling, cdr but just like i watched my mets lose last two years, a devastating season like they had can really mess with a team….bringing in new blood is necessary i think even tho i think they gave up way to early on yi and tho i think outlaw is overpayed, im hoping he can take a step in the ariza direction and earn that salary, hes still only 25…i just hope they dont get a pf, i liked humphies and him off the bench with favors starting day 1 is the smartest way to get this team and its young guys to reach their potential
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:10pm #352163
stanford hoopsim sorry but favors isnt starting from day one.. they already said he wont be ready to start till the middle of next year
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:13pm #352171
ronniemiller1kParticipanthe should start, not saying play him 40 minutes a night, split him with humphries and let him develop…i understand if they go the pf route but lets be honest, overpaying for haslem isnt gonna make this a playoff team
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:17pm #352176
stanford hoopsThe plan is for Favors to be a reserve for the first half of his rookie season. So they need help, and Johnson purportedly is spearheading the pursuit of Thomas — a fellow Louisianan — because the coach believes he can hold down the job.
As of tonight, the Nets seemed willing to overpay for a temp.
But Johnson knows he’ll have to fast-track his rookie’s development.
“It’s a different ballgame,” Johnson said. “We’re playing a game of yards right now. We’re down by our own end zone, and we’re looking to move the ball one yard at a time, you see what I’m saying?”-nj.com
i can see him starting midseason not because of what he can do but because of what the rest of the big men cant do. they wont have any other option and probably will already be out of the playoff hunt
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:17pm #352177
Leftovers16ParticipantGet players to play better? I think for the nets it seems that way
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:19pm #352185

Knicksfan1ParticipantFavors should start from day 1 the team isnt gonna gonna make the playoffs this year. But they should give their good young players like T-Will, Courtney Lee, and Favors ample playing time so they can build chemistry for the future with Lopez, Harris and Outlaw. I could see that team being solid by 2012
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:31pm #352210
stanford hoopsi agree he should start..throw the players into the fire from day one but thats not what avery plans on doing
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:37pm #352216

Knicksfan1ParticipantWhos he gonna start then? guys like Humpries, Josh Boone and Tony Battie arent NBA starters that r gonna help you win games
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 5:25pm #352264
grizz32ParticipantIf they get Scola their offseason wont be that bad
