Lotto StudParticipantAs a Nets fan I was not too sure about acquiring Farmar over the summer, when he struck for $12-mil over the next 3 years. Although he may have jumped out the gym in his NBA combine he still lacks the athleticism to even show he is built like that. He does not wow anyone with his play. It was just brought to my attention, that he played his a** off in LA that 1 year, because Crittenton was brought in. 10 & 5 was good this year for him which was his best in his career, but I want to see the Farmar who was fighting for his job back in LA.

MagikKnickParticipantHe did good when he got the minutes, had 17 assist in one game, 16 in another, but I dont see him as more than a good backup..and Avery Johnson had him play alot of minutes at the 2-guard, splitting possessions with Devin Harris, or playing alongside Deron Williams. Hes a good backup, don’t see him developing into much more

llperezI didn’t watch much nets games but I thought farmar played well. 10 and 5 from a backup is not bad. He sure did a lot better then the guy the lakers replaced him with in Steve Blake.

Lotto StudParticipant10 & 5 is excellent from a backup. I just would like to see the same hard play from that 07 season. He left everything on the court night in & night out.

NJHooper95ParticipantI think the nets could do alot worse at backup pg than Farmar. I dont understand how guys with such a high vertical leap, dont play explosively in games. It doesnt seem like guys like Farmar and O.J Mayo have 40 plus vertical leaps when they may catch a dunk 1 out of every 25 games. I still like Farmar though.

sheltwon3ParticipantBeing able to jump high one time does not make a player and explosive player. Some people dont have the stamina in their legs to continue to reach their max vertical and others are like pogo sticks. Some of those tests can be decieving because it does not test how many times you can get your max before you are tired. If you can only get your max a few time compared to someone getting their max a great deal of the time, the person that can jump 40 and can only do it a few times and get tired will probably not use it as much versus someone who may be able to get 36 but can get at least 34 without wearing down most of the game and still has their legs for defense.

sheltwon3ParticipantFarmar is a good backup. I was more upset that Lakers gave up Vujacic for Joe Smith and did not really use Joe Smith. They needed Vujacic shooting more than they thought. I think Blake can be a better bk up when he learns the offense. You can’t expect a player to come in one year and have that offense down pat.

Specialt25ParticipantLakers got the short end of the switch.
Gave steve blake a big contract 4yr/16million. guy averaged 4 and 2 and 35% fg
while Farmer is the creater we actually needed as a backup point who can shoot when he’s open.
For a backup 10 and 5 is GREAT. find me another "backup" Pg who averages 10 and 5.
And dont forget he is only 24.

iguapops420ParticipantIt’s funny because we Laker fans were dying to see the Farmar that battled hard and worked when he had a challenge in Critt. Don’t expect and you won’t be let down. And Perez, I DID watch nets games because of he and Sasha and the thing he did in NJ are the exact reasons he was never fully allowed to play"His" game in LAL. He took bad shots, was oftn looking more for his shot, and still wasn’t able to bring a good defensive effort. Had he been in LAL he’d have npt gotten minutes under Phil with his style of play(even though we needed a speedy guard who could get into the lane). A part of me wishes we had resigned him though if for nothing else than to see what he could potentially do under a demanding defensive coach like Mike Brown. LAL does have a 5.5 million dollar tradeX from the Sasha deal and if no one else can be had( Brandon Rush,JR Smith,Boobie Gibson) I wouldn’t be apposed to giving NJ a call and see what’s up on Farmar. Getting a starting nod could be just what this team needs. Could potentially spell Kobe from ful time initiating duties and become a good 14 and 6 player.

iguapops420ParticipantActually Farmar used his 42 inch vert well in closeout situations. The fact that he had t-rex arms and weighs 176 are reasons he wasn’t able to seem as explosive. Even with his short wingspan, he should be a much better defender than he is. His rookie year seemed so promising. 10 and 5 is nice for a backup, but on a contender he wsn’t going to be able to have as much freedom as in NJN. Same goes for Sasha, though I think his length, grit, and outside shooting could have helped LAL out tremendously in this years playoffs. FUnny because what we lacked from them in years past ( safe, consistent play) is the exact opposite of what was needed in that 3rd most troubling year of the 3peat. I have to think though, that with more pick and role based offense that Brown loves, I could see Blake having a NICE bounce back year.
