 It’s a crime this guy went as the 45th pick in the draft. A 6’5" pg with his size, shooting, distribution combination should have been the 1st or 2nd pg off the board. Smart is the only pg I can say I wouldn’t definitely have Clarkson ahead of.

i know people love Napier, and Ennis but they are flyweights maybe 170lbs and 6ft tall each. They look great in college but it’s a hard road for guys that size in the league. Clarkson has NBA size and skills. I think the Lakers nailed this draft.

 Well I would definitely take Payton, exum, and Napier  over him too and I would lean towards ennis too. There is a reason why he slipped, he didn’t shoot well during the second half of the CBB season and he isn’t a pure pg. Solid athlete and has size but he has work to do. Hopefully he makes people regret not taking him but he went about where he should have went.

I was never that high on Clarkson, but he can be a value pick in the second round. But let’s not overstate things. He’s big for his position and he’s a good athlete, but he never really completed the transition to the point guard, he’s not much of a creator off the bounce and he’s struggled a lot with his jumper in the second half of this season. If his jumper is falling and he learns to play defense he can be a nice backup or a starter next to small combo guards, but it’s not like he’s the second coming of Bob Cousy.

I wouldn’t have selected him as the second point off the board. I certainly wouldn’t have thought about him until Smart, Exum, Payton, Napier, Ennis are all off the board. But I think at 28 for the Clippers I would have selected him then. Let’s say this way: I think he has some value in the second round and he might become a good backup/rotation player (he might even start for an awful team). But it’s not a crime that he slipped in the second round, there were better players and no, he was not the second best PG prospect in this class, not even close.

 And you’re wrong. If Napier played for Frank Haith and didn’t have some incredibly bad shots drop in against UK he would be the one fighting for a draft slot. 

If Clarkson was at UConn or played for a better coach he would be a top 20 lock.

i love Shabazz as a college player, and maybe a quicker Howard Eisley/Maynor type in the league but I think too many superlatives have been attached to him and Ennis

Are you kidding me. An NCAA Championship is one of the hardest tournaments to win in the world. Let alone to be the undisputable reason your team one. That carries a ton of value alone. And if we are talking about percentages check the stats, Napier was one of the most efficient high volume shooters on a Championship team.

 Not a knock on Clarkson, but he played in the SEC and if you just attempted to drive you were going to the free throw line.  Seemed like every game I watched he was at the line shooting, his stats may say otherwise.  He’ll be a good combo guard off the bench.
