lalailaParticipantDo you agree guys that Jonas should get much more than 26 minutes per game?
Guy is hard worker and unselfish, just real traditional center.
His per36 stats are 17.3ppg 12.9rpg and 1.6blocks he shoots 55% fg and 75% from the line
Seems like allstar production to me.
What do you guys think?

dmo21ParticipantCouldn’t agree more. I’m a die hard Raptors fan and it frustrates me how he is treated by Coach Casey. They rarely run any plays for him even though he’s their best offensive big man (Scola and Biyombo get more post ups than him). Jonas will have a good first half and Toronto will be winning, and then he’ll play minimally in the second half and the raptors will lose. Casey should be let go as he is a poor coach, but that won’t happen as they’re winning, so Jonas won’t reach his potential here.

KingslayerParticipanti watch every raps game and think he definitely deserves more minutes, but no more than about 30 per game. He isn’t a very mobile center, and that weakness is accentuated when he gets tired. While his stats are pretty similar, he’s actually improved quite a bit this season (especially on defense). His defensive positioning and IQ are much better. He’s also significantly improved as a rim protector despite not blocking any more shots than prior seasons. He gets vertical and uses his length to contest without fouling. Offensively, he’s shown some small strides in terms of IQ, getting the ball out on double teams and not forcing drives to the hoop as much. His post moves are more polished and he’s starting to trust his jump shot more. Believe it or not he’s shooting 50% on mid range jumpers this season (granted, they only make up 16% of his FGA).
JV has improved every season and he’s a big part of the Raps success this year. When he gets tired, his defense suffers, and the raps have a very capable backup in Biyombo. I think he could handle 30 min a night, but with mobility being so important to team defense in today’s NBA, it’s best to keep him fresh and not push him into the mid 30s

Robb_CParticipantCoach Casey is a great coach, He knows what he’s doing.. I think a lot of why Jonas doesn’t get as many minutes as he should is due to the fact, Hes keeping a big guys body as fresh as possible for a playoff run.. Anyone who knows the game knows big guys feel fatigue a lot harder and take more time to recover, also Jonas getting 26 minutes is a great sign of versatility within the lineup.. Look at what Thibodeau did to Joakim Noah, He banged his body giving him minutes like a Guard, and Noah has never been the same since.. Coach Casey is one of the more intelligent basketball minds in the game..Hes protecting his most valuable piece on the roster

ExumInfernoParticipantOf course he needs more minutes, and more shots. Other teams can’t stop him, he is too big and strong with skilful offensive moves.
DeRozan scores in the paint though, so Jonas has to get out of the way for that. You would think a dominant center scoring would mean better shots for Lowry and Ross outside.
Jonas and Biyombo were picked 2 draft slots apart, with Vesely in between. Raptors need to sign Jan, he has improved in Europe, to have all three.

OhCanada-ParticipantTerrible defender. He gets lit up by opposing bigs every night. He’s pretty much Brook Lopez with better rebounding and way less usage.
