ummm…LooneyParticipantThats what ESPN is claiming, it’s on their rumors section.
So do you agree? Obviously not?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 10:24am #236639
SlimParticipantIts fun for the fans to speculate but if ESPN really believes this then that’s plain daffy

quincey hodgeswow that is wayyyyyyyyy off..what the hell is espn smoking..are you sure thats what they said..wheres the link

td8118ParticipantI was gonna take points away but it doesnt seem like you believe that….In short NO, In long, he has the potential to be good but I dont see him being better then Rose, certainly as good but not much better and he would have to win the National Championship and even then IDK best of all time, you need to play more then 1 year to get that status….Thats like saying Kevin Durant is the best college player of all time, which is actually a more sensible argument because of his insane season, but obviously both are insane, Wall is elite though if he doesnt get hurt theres not way hes not going 1

SlimParticipant0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 10:27am #236646
td8118ParticipantAlso hes going to be aided alot by the fact he plays for Kentucky….if you remember, Rose didnt get that many nationally televised games his freshman year once November was over, added to the fact that it was such a stacked freshman class….Wall will get a bunch of SEC games to showcase himself on a National level….but yeah he is awesome

The8thDeadlySinParticipantWhat about Pistol Pete?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 10:38am #236654

The8thDeadlySinParticipantNow see, Jerry West was a SG. Pistol was a PG.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 10:44am #236658
ummm…LooneyParticipantHAHA. He says no to PG for Pistol and yes to West? He made it even worse.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 10:46am #236659
SlimParticipantI’m not going to say that John Wall doesnt have the talent to be the best college PG ever, or that his competiton is weak.
Because that would be hating, assuming that Wall=Magic=Isiah what is the difference, he hasnt won anything yet!
Tryna invent stars like Oscar said.
if ESPN and draft websites keep hyping everybody up then it will be hard for others to succeed.
Let them succeed before you call them successful. Its hard enough as it is.
I call foul.

SlimParticipantmy bad West played small forward in college

SlimParticipantmy bad West played small forward in college and was a combo guard in the NBA,
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 10:51am #236663

The8thDeadlySinParticipantYea. He leads the Mountaineers for rebounding for a career. And, I think scoring too.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 10:51am #236664
SlimParticipantBig O played forward in college too took the link down
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 10:52am #236651
SlimParticipantmy bad but I still say Jerry>Pistol
Jerry West
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 10:57am #236660
rtbtParticipantI’m not into the John Wall debate, but I would like to make a comment about Jerry West, who was one of the greatest college players of all time. As good as West was, there was another player from the University of Cincinnati who played at the same time as Jerry West, but he was even better. That was “The Big O”, Oscar Robertson.
I don’t know much about John Wall, but I can’t imagine any player being better than “The Big O”. He was a walking triple double.
But focusing solely upon the PG position, the choice is a no brainer, it has to be Magic.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 10:58am #236666

JNixonParticipantToo early for this topic?? I think so….he would have to build on his stats, make Kentucky a Championship contender in the tourny (easy to say they are now, but wait until tourny time rolls around), and lower his turnover numbers. That’s going to take the end of the season to see if he does these things. Even though he is looking like 1 of only 2 freshmen ready to take his game to the NBA (the other being Derrick Favors).

the I in winParticipanttheir has been some great points so i don’t think so especially after only like four games but i do think wall will be a better pro than college player.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 11:43am #236694
QHaynes20He’s not the Best PG ever.
Also D-Hamp2
Brunner is in And 1 as “Bad Santa”
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 11:58am #236697

Da1potParticipantYeah right…. he’s only going to be one and done anyways. You cannot compare someone who was only there for one year to a four year player. Pistol Pete is the best in my opinion.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 12:15pm #236700
quincey hodgesi dont think hes one of 2..favors has been good but he hasnt shown hes ready to step in and do work int he nba right now. wall is the only freshman who looks like he can step into the nba right now( he wont dominate but he should be able to at least be average)..even if he wins a title he wouldnt be the best pg ever in one year
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 12:22pm #236702

JNixonParticipantFavors has shown that in the games I’ve watched. He could be a rotation player right now from what I’ve seen.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 12:25pm #236704
quincey hodgesi cant call it yet..hes doing what hes doing again no future pros so its tough to really judge untill he plays against good big men
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 12:29pm #236705

gatorheelsParticipantFavors has played against descent competition so far…nothing great. He went up against Chris Wright from Dayton who is a future pro. He also went up against Alex Stephenson for USC who is a very solid college player. December 20th Georgia Tech plays Florida St. That will be a huge test for Favors…going up against Alabi & Singleton…yikes haha
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 12:34pm #236712
quincey hodgesyeah against dayton he finished with 10pts 6 reb and 3 fouls and alex went to work on him..didnt he finish with 18 or 20? although favors had 11 reb but 10 pts..he didnt do anything more against those 2 (who i dont think will even get drafted) then what other starting big men do..the test will come when acc starts against a team like unc, fsu,id even say duke since there bigs are talented..right now its been cup cake city for gt

0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 12:46pm #236725

JNixonParticipantGani Lawal defended Stephenson that game. Favors guarded the foreign player they had. Stephenson was literally the only person on their team they ran offense through, so he was going to get his. I think that Favors is very good and plays alot like a young Dwight Howard. I know I have given him alot of comparisons LOL, but this one is the one I’m sticking with. If you remember, Howard was about the same size and functioned as a catch and finish player like Favors has, and was the same type of rebounder. I think with time in the weight room and more polish, Favors can develop into a Dwight Howard type player. I really do.

Dhamp2ParticipantWhat up Hodges…Naw man, Paul Harris had handles, trust me. And he’s way more athletic than Stephenson.

quincey hodgesnope nope no..no way and hell hes like dwight howard..favors could not play center in the nba. howard was putting up the same or better numbers then favors while a rookie int he nba. can you imagin what he would have put up as a freshman against the comp that favors has been going against?..and the usc game proves my point of waiting..he did just ok against some no named guy. i dont think he’d be a rotational guy right now against wayyyyyyyy more better big men then hes been playing against now. i have to see some one dominate inferior comp and then play at least well against better comp before comparing them to any good nba player
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 1:03pm #236736

JNixonParticipantDwight Howard’s Stats: 12 ppg, 10 rebs, 1.7 blks
Derrick Favors Stats: 14 ppg, 8.4 rebs, 2.1 blks.
You don’t think Favors is comparable to a young Dwight Howard at all? He’s pretty much the same player or type of player as that from what I’ve seen at the same stage of development.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 1:12pm #236739
quincey hodgesummm HELL NO..since howards rookie stats were against nba players..while favors is against guys who probably wont be on the d leauge team…thats like me saying that john wall is better then chris paul as a rookie since hes putting up better stats then paul did as a nba rookie…come on iggy you have better basketball knowledge then this
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 1:17pm #236740
quincey hodgespretty accurate observation on gt and favors by cnnsi
* Tough break for Georgia Tech losing Iman Shumpert for three weeks because of a knee injury. The Jackets were already suspect in the backcourt, so this will make it even harder for them to get the ball to Derrick Favors where he can score. Favors does not yet have a polished offensive game, so he really needs a point guard who can set him up properly.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 1:29pm #236751

JNixonParticipantI didn’t say he’s better than Dwight Howard, I said he plays like a young Dwight Howard. So that’s actually nothing at all like saying John Wall is better than Chris Paul…Your acting like I said Favors plays like Howard does right now.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 3:13pm #236774

Bryant24ParticipantJohn wall has potential unlike any guard i seen but like iguodala9 said he need to calm down on his turnovers any yall must didnt see highlights or hear about jason kidd college he was sick and roy williams said john wall is the best point guard prospect since jason kidd.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/08/2009 - 8:12pm #236840
ball4life66ParticipantNo point in arguing with Quincy about Favors. He gets mad if you say anything good about his game. LOL
I am not really sure about the comparison to Howard. Howard is a little bigger but Favors is more skilled at the same age and I think he has a LITTLE more potential than Howard did at the same stage which is scary. Favors is been pretty good so far but I can’t wait to see what kind of numbers he puts up if he can stay out of foul trouble in the first half. He has picked up two fouls in the first half in every single game so far and sat on the bench because of it.

quincey hodgeshow does favors play like howard other than hes raw on offense?..he doesnt dunk nearly as much and he doesn’t just overpower good players either..i can play like jordan if im playing against a couple of ymca guys. if he did those things against future pro big men that would be one thing. and dhamp paul had handles in hs. i watched alot of his games in college, his handles didnt seem to come with him when he got to college. and no i dont get mad ball4life im just not like most peiople up here who are ready to claim someone is so good when they haven’t played against real good comp yet. its funny because the same people were quick to not believe someone like stuckey or curry was good when they played against low comp and kept saying” i have to see what he does against better comp” but when it comes to freshmen or players ya’ll like the same rules dont apply!!! why is that?…paul george is the example this year. a couple of people talk about how he hasnt done anything against good comp but neither has favors yet ya’ll are ready to compare him to nba superstars..does that make much sense?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 12/09/2009 - 7:11am #236884

lalailaParticipanti start to get agree when people comparing stats with not even looking at minutes..do you imagine that Favors avg 24mon not 34 not 44 lol…he could definitely be around 20/10/3 with Durant’s Wall’s and other big time freshmen minutes avg
0 - Posted on: Wed, 12/09/2009 - 8:20am #236900
quincey hodgeswhos fault is that that he doesnt average the minutes?…his..he keeps getting in foul trouble early so he doesnt get the minutes..thats no different then saying if a player gets more shots or if the offense is run around them or if they are on another team…the fact is THEY ARE NOT so they have to work with what they have. minutes, shots etc. i dont live in the what if world i live in the reality world and the rest of us do to so you have to judge on the reality. thats no different then someone saying well if he got more minute then teams would find a way to stop them from scoring. we dont know what would happen IF this or that happened so the player has to be judged on what they are doing with the shots or minutes or touches that they do get
0 - Posted on: Wed, 12/09/2009 - 8:26am #236902
quincey hodgeslets also not forget that favors isn’t the best player on his team..hes the best potentially but right now he isn’t the best player(big man) on his team
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/10/2009 - 7:43am #237117
RUDEBOYWall is a special player…He has brought excitement back to Kentucky..He’s quickly separating himself from other college players as the number 1 pick…But to say he’s the best ever is a little off base…He hasn’t learn to run a team unless its on a fast break..He has to learn to run a half court setting…To control the game and make his teammates better..His point guard skills arent on par with guys like Derrick Rose or Chris Paul..Thats something he really must work on…Unless he adjust to becoming a better point guard b4 he goes pro……He’s going to be an Iverson type..1 MAN SHOW
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/10/2009 - 7:45am #237118
quincey hodgeshes actually a better pg then i thought he was..he turns it over a bit much but hes better at getting in passing lanes then rose was on defense and hes shown he can get people the ball in places to score better then rose could at this point. i think his half court game isnt a good as roses was thogh which will come with time. if he does become a iverson type then thats very good since iverson is a future hall of famer. although he gets more assist then iverson or rose did as freshmen in college
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/10/2009 - 10:03am #237227
MATAParticipantprobably not.ty lawson imo.john wall projects as a combo guard.i think if he grows an inch or two he’ll definitely project as a shooting guard in the league.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/10/2009 - 10:19am #237250
quincey hodgesyeah i doubt if he grows more…its possible but unlikely at 19
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/10/2009 - 10:53am #237283

JNixonParticipantI think that Jay Williams was the best college PG I’d ever seen…Idk about ever. It would take centuries to know who was the best ever, since I’m not the type to judge on people I’ve never seen play.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/10/2009 - 1:54pm #237324
quincey hodgesjay will was a beast…wall is playing better then j will did as a freshman but not as good as jwill played as a jr(did he stay for 3 or 2)
0 - Posted on: Mon, 01/18/2010 - 7:18am #248400

PureshooterParticipantYou could make a pretty damn good case for Bobby Hurley. 2 National Championships and the all-time assist leader. Of course he didn’t have half the potential of Wall, but that shouldn’t come into the equation. It’s about what you accomplish on the court and Hurley is right at the top.
