Melo2Amare1ParticipantI havent seen a thread about this yet but what do you guys think? HUGE for the Pistons, this is a great opportunity for them to start rebuilding and I think they should focus on defense.
Who would you guys like to see them bring in and who do you think they should draft based on this?
I like Mark Jackson, Brian Shaw, or Frank Vogel. All young coaches who would be great in taking in a rebuilding team and bring in a philosophy that would be effective for young players.
As far as the draft if they could get Kawhi Leonard, who could bring the defensive intensity that Jackson and Shaw would implement, or Kemba Walker, if say someone like Vogel was there who would want to run and get up and down the court more, that would be a great start and a young nucleus of either one of them, Monroe, and Stuckley would be strong.

omphalosParticipantNot sure how you’re making a judgment on Jackson or Brian Shaw bringing a particular philosophy given the former has no experience as a coach and Shaw only as an assistant.
I’d like to see them get Mike Woodson; he did a great job developing players in Atlanta even if he was forced to play Horford out of position due to a lack of a real C.
I like their young talent, but they need another player with All-Star potential next to Monroe, and it’s hard to see it coming in this year’s draft at #8.
PG – ?
SG – Stuckey (possibly too old/will be let go)
SF – Daye – Essentially Prince Junior
PF – Jerebko (probably best suited off the bench as a hustle guy)
C – Monroe – Solid passing big man with good fundamentals.Really, the PG position is the one lacking, and Kemba might be the best choice at 8 if he’s still available, he’s a proven winner and the Pistons have too many bad contracts to blow up the roster completely so will need to take a gamble on a proven winner and hope the rest of their young talent develops into a better starting unit.
I also wouldn’t mind their taking Motiejunas to pair with Monroe and Jerebko as their big-man rotation if Kemba isn’t available. He’s a polished offensive player who could form a great twin-towers look next to Monroe to allow Detroit to play inside-out. There will likely be a starting calibre PG available in the lottery next season (Kabongo, Teague, Cook among others) who would fill their need at PG too (hard to see the Pistons making the playoffs next season).
Given this, if he’s available I like Alec Burks as the guy with the highest ceiling who also fills a team need (SG) as Stuckey is already 25 (thought he was younger) and I’m not sure whether he’s still a part of their future after not really panning out as an elite PG. Burks would come in and be able to get minutes, and along with Monroe be the foundation of a playoff team for the future.
Pistons situation is an interesting one, very curious to see how they handle it.

Chilbert arenasParticipantLook for Kuester to end up on Lakers bench. He used to write up all of the cavs plays when he was in Cleveland and they suffered when he left for Pistons job. Mike Brown knows his value.
