WrecklessParticipantWith all this free agency bullshit going on, I wanna talk about something different.
IS John Henson a lottery pick?He is maybe 195 lbs on a good day . And please dont say ” Oh he’ll add bulk” because 75% of the people who need to add bulk dont. But I do like his soft touch around the basket and he is very quick off his feet and hes athletic. The thing that is holding him back is his minutes. I know hes 19, and i think if he entered this year he wouldve been a lottery pick. What do u guys think? And do u think he enters next year if theres no lockout?0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/01/2010 - 5:10am #344678

JNixonParticipantHe has to get stronger next year to be a lotto pick. The reason he didn’t get minutes is because he was overpowered too easily and because of UNC’s depth last year. He has the potential to be a lottery pick, but he HAS to get bigger, which will be tough because of his narrow shoulders. He also would benefit from developing a perimeter game.

Stojakovicfor3ParticipantHe’ll be a great player next year with Ed Davis, Deon Thompson, and the Wear brothers gone. He will now start at the 4 and I’m expecting around 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks a game.

PureshooterParticipantHe’s actually in a nice situation because people will be expecting more out of the freshman Barnes than him. He’ll need to produce, but he won’t be expected to carry the load.

CelticJayhawkParticipantHe’s already a premier shot blocker at the 3 and 4 spots, although he’s much, much better suited for the 4.. Unlike Durant he HAS to gain weight if he doesn’t i wouldn’t even think about drafting him cause he just gets banged around the whole time. On offense every UNC game i watched he threw up 2 or 3 really ugly left handed jump hooks that went no where near the rim..But he’s a straight up freak physically and i hope he adds a little weight and raises his skill level cause if he does he could go top 8 easily

mikeyvthedonParticipantI think the thing that makes John Henson an intriguing prospect is due to his slight frame. He definitely needs to add strength and bulk, but his slight frame is more than likely what makes him different for a player of his size. He has very nice quickness and athleticism for a player of his size, and he can possibly be used on the perimeter and to guard smaller, quicker player that give most guys in the 6’10 range fits. His story seems to be a late growth spurt, which means he learned guard skills for most of his basketball life up to this point. He also looks like a guy who might have gone straight preps to pros, think Ndubi Ebi, whose frame was exactly the same. He had potential, but never got the chance to put it together, most likely a product of his not really being able to take the time to develop his skills in the rush of the NBA. It is a league where it very much says, “What have you done for me lately?”, he unfortunately had not done much, and this was a guy who was ranked close to LeBron James, Kendrick Perkins and Luol Deng, all guys who still seem to be in the league for not only the 6-7 years they already have been, but another 6-7 years on top of that. With John Henson, he gets a chance to develop at UNC, play behind a lottery pick this past year until he went down, and when he started he showed flashes. Who knows if he puts it together, but I would not count him out, and I will not be surprised if he is a lottery pick next year. He was rated near the top of his HS class for a reason, and those rankings usually have a lot to do with potential. His frame reminds you of a guy like Rashard, but he of course cannot shoot close to him, so he just needs to develop a niche and than maybe join guys like Brandan Wright and Ed Davis as 6’10 skinny lotto picks.
